Beyond Arrogance – Obama & Company’s Reckless Disregard for the Rule of Law

The United States of America is great for a number of reasons. Its commitment to liberty, dedication to charity, defense of its friends and freedom around the globe, historical reliance on the individual and on free markets, and in my opinion, national reverence for the Almighty, are among those things that make our nation the greatest the world has ever known. But perhaps second only to our collective Faith in God – our commitment to the rule of law sets us apart and serves as the foundation for our strength and prosperity. One need not look any farther than our southern neighbors in Mexico to see what the world looks like when the rule of law is abandoned.

In America, the rule of law is under direct attack. And unfortunately the frontal assault comes primarily from the President of the United States, the Attorney General, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to name a few.

Example #1: The President and the Attorney General fraudulently and recklessly declare that terrorists can and should be convicted in civilian courts, yet will not say what will happen if these terrorists are found innocent – saying only that “this will not happen.” (see, e.g. Andy McCarthy here, and generally). By doing so, they make a mockery of the very rule of law they pretend to be protecting – and they weaken our national security in the process.

Example #2: The President and the Speaker of the House are on the verge of colluding to pass a bill that will effectively nationalize 1/6 of our economy, turn our personal healthcare decisions over to bureaucrats, spend trillions of dollars – and they will do so without actually having passed the bill in both Houses. Even if one doesn’t think this is unconstitutional in the sense one might get the Court to strike it down (though sue we should – and kudos to Mark Levin and Landmark Legal for preparing to do so) – it definitively, most assuredly, turns the Constitution and the rule of law on its head – and dangerously so.

Suffice it to say that President Obama and his minions arrogantly and callously barrel full steam ahead with total reckless disregard for the Constitution and the rule of law – and it’s not just our national security and healthcare that is at stake. It is our very way of life. The rule of law cannot be compartmentalized – when we weaken it in one respect, we weaken it in all respects – and thus property rights, faith in our system of justice, belief in our elected leaders and virtually every link between citizen and government is destroyed.

So what to do? We continue to fight and we fight harder. We fight this weekend (see gopcodered and call Congress). We fight in the Senate. We get our states to pass laws contrary to this unconstitutional intrusion by the national government (see: 30 states have taken or are taking action… do more). We sue – and sue in multiple places for multiple reasons (see, e.g. Levin above, VA AG Ken Cucinelli preparing to sue, and numerous other states as well). We crush democrats in the fall (give money to conservative candidates like Marco Rubio, Mike Lee in Utah over establishmentarian and pro-government healthcare Bob Bennett), we repeal it (see: www.repealit.org)– and most of all, we all simply say, “hell no.”

Like most Americans, I am committed to God, to liberty, to self-reliance and to taking care of my loved ones as I see fit. No one – and I really mean NO ONE – will ever get in the way of those things. I will fight with every ounce of my being to be able to give to my son his birthright – that of being an American – and to have that mean something. I will not allow a self-absorbed, narcissistic fool hell bent on creating a totalitarian state not even in the name of compassion, but rather, in the name of himself, to destroy the rule of law, and thus the nation. Game on.

who are afraid of Pelosi’s wrath ain’t seen nothing yet!!

Hell hath no fury as that of a mother who sees the rights and the freedoms of her daughter and future generations threatened. Hell hath no fury as that of a daughter, whose father landed on the shores at Omaha Beach, and now is threatened to have his health care decided by death panels; hell hath no fury as that of a citizen who not only will work to defeat these traitors, but will try to her dying day to strip them of their benefits so they, too, may suffer through these laws they try to impose on us. As you say, GAME ON!

Our focus the rest of this week needs to be defeating this bill.

WHATEVER happens, we have to make the next two things our foci:

Working towards a 60+ seat majority in the Senate
Keeping the House Majority we will get this fall
Getting a CONSERVATIVE president in 2012.

These comprise item #1: Gain complete control over the Government thru the ballot box and through strategic planning and implementation of a grassroots ‘get out the vote’.

#2 A massive information campaign about any and all of the Dems’ failed policies.

Their ideas are unpopular. We have to keep them unpopular. All we have to do is tell people what they really mean.

I submit the BEST way each of us can help achieve your goals is by becoming a voting member of the Republican Party — that is, a precinct committeeman. If it’s already too late where you live, for the upcoming election cycle, just start going to EVERY scheduled meeting of your local GOP organization where the precinct committeemen meet and become a “helper” and learn the ropes and prepare yourself to become a PC the next time the election cycle hits.

If you’re not yet a PC, I hope you’ll become one.

      Thank you.

to the state and district GOP nominating conventions: I was sitting at my precinct caucuses and when the question was raised “who would like to serve as a delegate to the county convention, I looked around…and raised my hand.

That was it. Done deal cause there weren’t even enuf folks to fill all the slots. Got to the country convention…gave a 2 minute speech as to why I wanted to be a delegate to the nomnating conventions…defeated our RINO state senator…and, voila – I’ve spent the last 2 weeks fielding phone calls from high level staffers and even the candidates themselves wanting to know if I have any questions or would like more information. I have a one-on-one face-to-face meeting with one of the CongressCritter candidates next week.

I no longer have to bitch about the Party; I *am* the Party now. And in all my years of phone calling, letter writing, campaign contributing and sign posting, I have *never* enjoyed *anything* as much as having these crapweasels having to grovel at *my* feet for *my* vote.

*Everyone* should try it. It’s a blast.

          Heh.Heh.

          • audax

Take your family, neighbors and friends! We CAN take back the party!

Enjoy the conventions! GET ON THE RULES COMMITTEE as well as candidate selection if they have one. Executive Committee is good too as they are usually ones who will pick a candidate nominee mid term if something happens (i.e. Scarofazzo)

and this bill (assuming it’s demonpassed) is overturned, these jerks are gonna try something. Probably try to pack the supreme court before November, or better yet, during the lame duck session after the elections. If they are willing to go as far as they have, why would they stop? Heck they could even do it in the next congress if they still have the Senate.

We simply have to take back both houses of congress as fast as possible.

    • Aetius728

if it is passed without “demonpass”? I am no lawyer, but if I understand correctly, even if the states win their lawsuits, it will not scuttle the entire bill. Is there any potential way to get the entire bill declared void by the courts?

Even if we take congress back this year, we won’t be able to repeal it over a veto. If we win the White House in 2012 then it will be possible. My concern with that is whether there is a little phrase tucked away somewhere that prevents it from being repealed.

I know we have been avoiding talking about 2012 until after this years battles, but as soon as the election is over this November our priority should be recruiting a presidential candidate with the balls to repeal this monstrosity.

      • aruges

Whatever parts of it survive court challenges would be law.

It’s one of the things that makes the whole demonpass thing mystifying. Why go this route? The public won’t buy the whole “I voted for the fixes not the Senate bill” argument. Especially since it’s uncertain how much of the “fixes” will actually make it through.
Levin’s challenge is compelling and I think has a decent shot to take the whole thing down, certainly a better chance than all of the “fixes” making it through the Senate.

But they are not rational and are going for it anyway.

I hope they fail at demonpass. If not, I hope they fail a court challenge. But I also think they have shown that they will not stop even if they lose in the courts.

        • Aetius728

It they do demonpass, they have already demonstrated that the don’t care about the constitution, so it is not unreasonable to think that they would go so far as to ignore a Supreme Court ruling if it comes to that. Of course, hopefully they won’t be in power too much longer.

I’ve called, I’ve emailed, I’ve voted, I’ve even been to a couple of tea parties. Yet nothing seems to stand between these dope(r)s and their “fix” – that fix being their determination to take over the United States.

We probably lost this particular battle long ago through our collective inaction — too many of us (I’m guilty as charged) ceded our basic civic duty to be engaged in party politics to “the other guy.” Only about 65 per cent of eligible voters bothered to cast a vote. Only one-half of the Republican Party precinct committeeman slots were filled on Election Day, 2008. Less than one-third here in Arizona. Not enough of us good, decent conservatives have been engaged in the real ball game of politics – party politics – as voting members of the Party, as precinct committeemen. So we’ve had a weak, mealy-mouthed Republican Party trying to defeat the “Candyman” Debtocrat Party that promises the masses everything for free.

The overall strategy for righting our ship of state is outlined at my blog below. But here it is in a nutshell:

      Consider these numbers:

      Resistnet.com has 67,000+ members.

      TeamSarah.org has 78,000+ members.

The Conservative Underground, TCUnation.com has over 16,000 members.

NRA has over 4 million members.

Gun Owners of America has about 500,000 members if memory serves.

The various Tea Party and 9.12 and WeSurroundThem groups across the nation have millions of members.

Thousands and thousands more belong to other groups like ourcaucus.com, anystreet.org, etc. How many conservatives do we have here at Redstate? How many of us are actually IN the Republican Party as voting members of it?

HOW and WHERE should all these conservativs UNITE? United we STAND. Divided, we FALL. I guarantee the incumbents would be SHOCKED and TERRIFIED if the leaders of all of the above-mentioned organizations, or even ONE of them, sent out a press release or held a press conference announcing that they would be imploring all of their members to immediately take steps to become Republican Party precinct committeemen to fill up the HALF of those slots that are UNFILLED to make sure that CONSERVATIVE candidates would challenge, and defeat, all incumbents who have violated their oaths of office by supporting unconstitutional legislation.

We outnumber the socialist/liberal/Commies. But we are splintered. And we don’t realize this is, in the end, about one thing and one thing only — getting more people to vote for OUR candidates.

HOW? By offering the dumbed-down electorate a choice, not an echo, at the general election.

HOW? By making sure a conservative wins in the primary.

HOW? By making sure conservatives outnumber liberals/moderates/RINOs in “the most powerful office in the world” — the precinct committeeman positions.

WHY? Because then PCs can vote to endorse the BEST conservatives in the primaries and help get out the vote for those conservative candidates. Primary elections, historically, have VERY low turnout. If a majority of the PCs are working hard to get the vote out in those crucial primary contests, then the conservative candidates WILL win.

“We the [conservative] people” are slowly waking up. But holding a sign at a rally doesn’t really change anything. ONLY real, grass roots, in the trenches political participation does. And that happens at the monthly local GOP meetings.

In the legislative district in which I live, here in Arizona, we have DOUBLED our PC ranks since Election Day, 2008.

Go here to read what I wrote about it at Redstate.com: http://www.redstate.com/stix/2009/12/08/conservatives-and-the-gop/#comment-131

We need to realize the ONLY REALLY EFFECTIVE place to “party” is within the Republican Party as a precinct committeeman. That should be priority number one right now of every conservative.

And if you’re still going to bother to communicate with your congresscritters, I believe there’s no sense calling/faxing/e-mailing/writing to the congresscritters UNLESS you can truthfully say one of the following:

      • http://www.FranBaker.com frankieb

I’ve donated to good candidates – i.e., my next-door neighbor, Mike Cierpiot, is a smart, staunch conservative running for the recently-vacated MO State Rep seat. I live in the most Republican part of our county. And our committeeman and committeewoman are terrific at what they do. But it’s still not enough to overcome the inner city vote/vote fraud, not to mention the paper’s blind endorsement of any and everything the Democrats propose.

As I said above, crackhead-like insanity.

When he bankrupted and nationalized the auto companies he refused to abide by the ancient law favoring secured debtors and put their claims against the companies behind everyone else. He replaced their claims with new claims from the unions, which had no lawful claims whatsoever, so that these secured creditors ended up behind the unsecured creditors and even non-creditors in line for their payment from the bankruptcy.

By breaking the law of contract with GM and Chrysler, President Obama told investors everywhere that no investment or contract was safe in America. He turned the US into a third-world country, where the law is only enforced if the President likes the result. And he drove 9 Million Americans out of work.

    Thanks Obama!

But I had to do my real job, so I couldn’t list them all!
Thanks for adding it to the list, though. I may try to come up with a more comprehensive list later.
