I am (G.I.) Joe – Part 2

Because it is important to get this right

In my opinion, the American people chose wrong yesterday. Even more to the point, the American people chose the man who disrespects my service and my sacrifices.

I feel hurt, and somewhat depressed, not so much because of all the negatives that are to come for our country, but because I truly feel that the people of this country broke faith with the men and women of the armed services by electing Barack Obama to the Presidency.

That said – if you read my previous post, I do not fight for the President, nor for the electorate, nor for a political party or a prevailing mood in the country. I do not require gratefulness or compensation to do what I do.

I fight for the Flag – which still waves.

I fight for the Constitution – though bruised and battered it still stands as the supreme law of our land.

I fight for the ideals of freedom, liberty and justice – Which are still to be found in more abundance in the United States of America than anywhere else in the world or in human history.

I defend the rights of the American people, and I will fight no less because they misuse or disuse those rights.

God bless America. There is much wrong here, most of the Republican party elected officials and nearly all of the Democrat party elected officials don’t deserve the positions they hold. We can fix that. We must fix that.

When Iraq looked darkest, the soldiers of the United States Army woke up each morning and did their jobs. They did not despair, because the mission must be completed. Because we did not faint from our duty, the people of Iraq have a greater chance of living free than they have had for the last 30+ years.

There is a lesson in this. When you give up, you lose. As long as you are in the fight, and particularly when truth and justice are on your side, victory is an option. As conservatives and as patriots, it is now more important than ever that we answer our country’s call. How many Democrat seats were unchallenged in this election? How many conservatives failed to participate in both the GOTV and voting itself? What have we all done to educate voters about the realities of government?

Many here treat politics the same way that video games treat soldiering: A ten minute glory run. In realit it takes 9 weeks of 7 day a week, 24 hour a day, grueling training to make your average civilian into Army material. That’s 9 weeks of boring, hard work. Then months of additional training to teach them their jobs. Then the tedium and hard work truly begin. Are you willing to fight for what you believe in, or are you content to try playing “political call of duty” every 2 or 4 years?

I will be on Code Pinks a@@ and the anti-military Democrats every step of the way and every day and I will show up in DC when the forces of the communist/socialist/marxist’s come out to protest there and WE as conservatives will fight to keep those same anti-American idiots at bay in the Congress by shining the light of day on their destestable policies with regards to our Military.

This is a fight we WILL win everytime on no matter what infests the WH and Congress!

Why are we all just sitting around just complaining? I, for one, am going to do something about it in 2010…

Another great diary Mac.

I’m still smarting over the big F-YOU for now. But this too shall pass.

I explained to my kids today that America chose Arrogance and Opportunism over Courage and Sacrifice. To me, that was the bottom line of the two choices before us.

Here is a quick point I read on Military.com today. Just in case anyone has any illusions about how the boots on the ground percieve their newly elected, feckless CIC-

“But what if a President Obama doesn’t actually believe in the importance of a strong military to keep the peace? Or has an attenuated idea of what qualifies as a “strong” military? Or considers military strength a luxury at a moment of financial crisis? Or thinks now is the moment to smash the Pentagon piggy bank to fund a second Great Society?

Does anyone really know where Mr. Obama’s instincts lie? During the third debate, he cited former Marine Gen. James Jones as a member of his wise man’s circle — which was reassuring but odd, given that the general made a point of appearing at a McCain campaign event simply to distance himself from the Democratic candidate.

The Obama campaign has also produced a lengthy defense blueprint on its Web site. It reads more like a social manifesto, promising to “improve transition services,” “make mental health a priority,” and end “don’t-ask, don’t-tell.” All very well, except the document is notably vague on naming the kinds of weapons systems Mr. Obama would actually support.

And so the question remains: If elected, which Obama do we get? The nuanced centrist or the man from Ben and Jerry’s?”

And this-

“During an interview with defense reporters in Washington earlier this month, former Navy Secretary Richard Danzig — a top Obama defense advisor — talked to us about “revitalizing” America’s “overstretched” military, then went on to highlight Obama’s commitment to veterans care, traumatic brain injury and PTSD.

“It’s just an example of trying to do more for our troops and create stronger incentives for recruitment,” Danzig said.

What about more guns, ammo and tanks? I know a bunch of Marines and Soldiers who want that more than a little extra money for college classes.”

Oh, and rest assured, Barack is not even interested in any kind of retention or incentive for those of us that have spent OUR ENTIRE ADULT life serving and sacrificing for this great land.

To those 50+ million that didn’t shoot us the middle finger, you’d damn well better make sure Barack doesn’t gut us. Because we deserve so much better.

Justin, thanks for hitting the post button first. Another of the “what I did is classified, you’ll never hear about it”, crowd, giving us the benefit of his knowledge.
And I think his last sentence speaks for his motivations.

Oh, I am SO impressed with your wisdom.

Please do tell us more about what we can do to fix this total mess that YOU had nothing at all to do with.

Is there anything more useless than a man who believes in nothing? Anything more pathetic than someone who coasts on something he may or may not have done 40 years ago and apparently has done nothing to be proud of since?

You are quite welcome.

Justin_Case (Diary) Thursday, November 6th at 1:13PM EDT (link)

If my memory serves me well, I remember Hooah Mac’s first diary to RedState. One of his greatest fears was that returning Iraq War vets would be treated as Vietnam vets were treated. I recall promising him that we would not allow that to happen. Mac can correct me if I’m wrong.

If TomP46 wants to express his opinions here that’s fine by me.

I draw the line when someone tries to gain an advantage by citing experience he perceives to be superior-especially when credibility is sought at the expense of another person’s service.

If TomP46 truly served in Vietnam, he’d remember other, older veterans who criticized those who came back from Vietnam for “not being able to beat a bunch of rice farmers”. Or, “Vietnam wasn’t even a war, it was a police action”.

The motto of the Vietnam Veterans of America is “Never again will one generation of veterans turn its back on another.”

As one who served in Vietnam, I take this very seriously.

We may fall down, but we don't lay down

1SGinTN (Diary) Thursday, November 6th at 1:47PM EDT (link)

We get up.

Professional soldiers know there is never any real peace, just re-fit, re-arm, and re-train for the next battle. My advice to us all here is to start doing the same in our political & cultural conflict, because it will never end until history ends. I think you get my meaning.

I have worn the uniform under two Democrat and three Republican C-in-Cs, and the mission is the same. Every time I raised my right hand, I pledged to defend the Constitution. The C-in-C was irrelevant in that regard.

Hooah_Mac, the people who voted for Obama didn’t so much break faith with America’s defenders, as they simply failed to understand or consider them and the ongoing war. Nevertheless, we soldier on. I and many more have your 6. We never quit, and we never really rest. We’ll rest when we’re dead.

Thanks, and hang tough.

For the mission!

From ME to You (Diary) Thursday, November 6th at 4:26PM EDT (link)

You do what it takes for as long as it takes to get the mission accomplished, period. End of discussion.

As Chris Craft of NASA once remarked “failure is not an option!”

We may have lost a battle but the culture war IS NOT OVER!!!!

We must keep hammering the Democrats liberals on every point! Don’t let up and don’t back down! We cannot stay silent! Keep yelling! Keep educating!

Most of all, keep praying!

A serious question, Hooah

Jack_Savage (Diary) Friday, November 7th at 10:41PM EDT (link)

I have been tempted to post a diary aimed at active duty soldiers and businessmen, letting the soldiers know that we who stood by them would not blame them if they left the service, and also challenging business people to hire them if they did.

I was going to do this because the left bleats on about how much they love this country, and I think it is about time more people from Portland, and Berkeley, and Chapel Hill, and Charlottesville, and Madison took their turn on the front lines.

Here is the question – is leaving the service being seriously considered by your fellow soldiers? Because the American people, without a doubt, have broken faith with you.

A protector of our Country.

A protector of my childrens future.

A protector of freedom and democracy, across the world.

A living definition of a patriot.

A recipient of my families undying, unending, unconditional thanks.

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

I am a Reservist, so I don’t have a finger on the pulse of active duty folks. Amongst the reservists I know, leaving has been discussed by some pending a certain outcome. We shall have to see how that comes out now.

I was approached about reenlistment last month, and I told the retention NCO to wait until after the election. At the time I was unsure. Now, I have decided I will re-up, for all the reasons listed above.

I am not happy about the CinC we are about to have, but it’s not about him.

I just wanted to invite anybody who holds conservative to moderate political values to check out AmericaC2C.Org. We are a free online group of people from across the U.S., who are working together toward things like Honesty in Journalism, promoting traditional American and Constitutional values, and ensuring a continued conservative/moderate voice in America.

We could use additional like-minded people to work alongside of us. Thank you very much.
