Likelihood of Obamacare Passage Skyrockets Today

People are flooding the Intrade Prediction Market with money, betting that the Democrat monstrosity otherwise known as the health care bill (aka "Obamacare") will pass soon.

The probability went up 25 points , from 45% to 70% chance, in just the last 24 hours .

There is only one thing for you to do right now .

On Perissodactyls

Since talking about 2012 is good enough for Governor Romney, I will take a moment to comment on it. I agree with Governor Romney that we conservative activists should not run third party candidates in 2012. Does he agree that the Republican Party should not pre-ordain or annoint our nominee before the primaries are over?

In 2008, we campaigned for consistent conservatives like Governor Huckabee* and Senator Thompson.** When Senator McCain became the nominee, we bit the bullet and pulled the lever for the moderate. If the RINOcrat party apparatus guides yet another endangered species from the Perissodactyla order*** to victory, then Romney is really asking a lot. It is asking even more for us to vote for him. And it is almost certainly asking too much of us to work for his victory.

Governor Romney**** says the result of a third party challenge would be "divide and fail." So would nominating a Perissodactyl.

Footnotes:
*"Huck PAC will support Republican candidates who are passionate advocates for tax reform, a strong national defense, real border security, life, the family, less government, and individual liberty."

**"The “Big Tent” analogy isn’t the correct one …the correct one is a magnet…we need to be a magnet that draws these independents in who are sick and tired of what’s going on in Washington."

***of the Rhinocerotidae family

****"We’re a ‘Big Tent’ party."

Ahmadinejad Must Die

The Face of Trutherism, Islamic Fundamentalism, Holocaust Denial, Homophobia, Kidnapping, and Dictatorship.

I miss President Bush. (must see the first 1:11)

I am really angry about this. This anger is best captured in a clip (warning: language) lasting all of four seconds. And that’s all I have to say.

President Obama was Right

He was right on November 2, 2004.

He was right on July 12, 2006.

He was right on September 25, 2007.

He was right on October 9, 2007.

Senator Kent Conrad:

Majority Leader Harry Reid doin the Texas Two Step:

16 months since Obama and this Congress was elected. Only 8 months to go. Keep the faith, everyone.

Rand Paul endorsed and JD Hayworth not endorsed: Food for Thought

Rand Paul

On the issue of partial birth abortion:

Bill Johnson and Trey Grayson, opponents of Rand Paul in the upcoming Republican primary, issued a joint press release noting that Paul has previously said he “probably” would have supported a federal ban on partial birth abortion. “There’s no ‘probably’ when it comes to the issue of partial birth abortion among Kentucky pro-life activists,” said Grayson.

Kentucky Right to Life endorsed one of Rand Paul’s opponents here.

On the truther issue:

When pressed by the Louisville Courier-Journal if he agreed or disagreed with Hightower’s belief that the United States government was responsible for the attacks on September 11th, Rand Paul’s campaign said it was a “complicated situation” with “truth on both sides” [emphasis added].

J.D. Hayworth

On the birther issue:

“Barack Obama’s the 44th president of the United States. His election was certified. I believe he was born in Hawaii.”–Former Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ)

On the conservative issue:

American Conservative Union: Hayworth has a 97.56 lifetime rating; McCain has a 63 current rating.

On the abortion issue:

The National Right to Life Committee:  McCain is pro-life on 37 of 48 (77%) scored issues (click on “votes,” then “more key votes”). Hayworth earned a 100% rating (11 of 11) during his most recent term in Congress (the 109th).

Conclusion

I hope that those who have endorsed Rand Paul will return at least to neutrality in the primary, with support of the Republican heading into November. Additionally, I hope that with such a clear contrast between a moderate, establishment Republican and a true conservative in Arizona, those who are currently neutral will make clear their support.

Sitting on the fence in the McCain-Hayworth primary?

See if this specific and concise (488 words) statement of contrasts helps you decide who to support.

McCain’s selection of Palin as his running mate in 2008 and his solid performance at the Blair House talks on Thursday confirm his place in our minds as a Republican. His service in the Vietnam War confirms his place in our hearts as an American hero. His position on the issues, however, confirms someone else* as the conservative in this primary.

-20

That’s the over-under prediction I’m making on Rasmussen’s presidential approval index, which is a 3-day rolling average. It is currently (as of 2-25-09) -15. I’m predicting it will hit -20 on one of the next three days (today, tomorrow, and/or Sunday). With the sole exception of 12-22-09, this will be an all-time low for him, by the way. I have never been madder at the President and his party than I am now after having watched that stunning display of arrogance and raw power, not to mention the hypocrisy of pushing forward starting Monday with reconciliation after having a parade of Democrats speak out against it back in 2005.

Today’s index comes out in about an hour from now. Note that it will creep steadily worse with each passing day until it hits -20 on or before Sunday. I wonder how many Congressional seats each additional negative point translates into?

Please don’t throw us into the briar reconciliation patch, Mr. President. Please.

Conservative Anger, Third Party Suicide, and Romney

The following link takes you to a transcript of Rush Limbaugh. He describes with exceptional eloquence our justifiable anger as conservatives and how it might lead to irrational friendly fire on the only friends we have in Washington DC–the Republicans. Taken to an extreme, we go Third Party in 2010 and 2012 only if we want continued Democrat control of Congress and the White House.

He also properly indicts Romney for endorsing RINO McCain. This is standard, traditional, establishment I-do-for-you-and-you-do-for-me bullcrap. We all know and remember how fabulously those two got along just two years ago (not!). I hope it is just as obvious to you as it is to Rush Limbaugh and me that Romney is doing this with an eye to securing McCain’s endorsement in 2012. If Romney just shot himself in the foot with his endorsement of McCain, then certainly the return favor in 2012 of McCain’s endorsement of Romney would finish the job of killing Romney’s presidential ambitions, at least as far as the conservative tea party base is concerned.

Just another piece of evidence that Romney will say whatever he has to say or do to achieve whatever political office he aspires to at the moment. Don’t make us conservatives have to hold our noses for two presidential elections in a row!

Contract From America

I went to check this out, and it gave me a list of about 20 issues to choose 10 as most important, and the ones with the most votes would form a contract to give to Congress on April 15, 2010. However, none of the issues had anything to do with life. I understand that apparently if you didn’t sponsor this website, your issue doesn’t get to be voted on, but still, to not even be able to vote for makes this effort misleading as a definitive representation of what the American tea party movement wants. When I went to provide feedback to complain about this and let them know I would not be signing the contract, it would not let me because it kept saying that I was entering the captcha incorrectly. I gave up after six tries of six different captcha combinations. So hopefully someone from that site reads this and knows why they never get any media or other types of inquiries–an overzealous captcha program and a list of choices that does not address some of the most fundamental problems facing America today.

Conservatism vs. Extremism

Truthers

It’s OK to have a debate about which policies would best prevent another 9/11-style terrorist attack. It’s NOT OK to say, "Bush knew."

Birthers

It’s OK to highlight the woefully inadequate resume of a presidential candidate as you make the case against his (re)election (e.g., Obama’s limited political experience and zero experience running a business). It’s NOT OK to pursue a political dead end with an agenda that represents at its best irrational xenophobia and at its worst racism that detracts from our conservative mission.

Homophobes

It’s OK to have a debate about the role government should or should not play in the definition and recognition of marriage. If the people decide that government should play a role, it is also OK to debate whether that role should be federalized or "reserved to the States respectively" (U.S. Constitution Amendment X). It’s NOT OK to do THIS:

Here is a common sense reaction from Jeffrey LaPorte, Operation Iraqi Freedom war veteran (I am not he, nor do I know him):
