The extremists are taking over the party!

A few days ago, the left-wing activist group MoveOn.org began sending out emails seeking contributions to fund primary challenges against any Democratic senator who does not fully support “health care reform with a public option.” Now there’s an update: MoveOn executive director Justin Ruben says the group has raised $3,578,117 for the project and is thinking of new ways to punish errant Democratic lawmakers.

Haven’t we heard this somewhere before?  Oh yeah, from Obama lackey Valerie Jarrett:

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett said Scozzafava’s pullout under pressure “tells a lot about where the Republican leadership is right now.” They are “more and more extreme and more and more marginalized,” she said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Hey, Val, you might want to give George Soros a ring and let him know he’s going to be marginalized.

You did not suffer under the delusion that Democrats are ashamed of their America-haters, cretins, adulterers, racists, perjurers, thieves, tax cheats, and other criminals, did you?

At a time when the unemployment rate is nearing double-digits, President Obama’s OSHA nominee, David Michaels, threatens to be an occupational hazard.

He’s also a radical. Conservatives who were outraged by Van Jones should be apoplectic about his tenure when they consider that — according to their website — OSHA “inspected 38,579 workplaces during Fiscal Year 2006.”

David Michaels was behind the junk-science efforts to smear Bisphenol A (BPA) , an innovative chemical used to make plastics stronger. A few months ago, I wrote about BPA. Here’s an excerpt:

If you’re unfamiliar with Bisphenol A (BPA), it is a chemical used to make lightweight, versatile, durable, high-performance plastics. It’s also one of the most extensively tested products in the world. For example, as Norris Alderson, the FDA’s associate commissioner for science, said just last year, “a large body of available evidence” demonstrates that products made with it are safe.

As I went on to describe in that piece, the attacks on BPA were headed by organizations funded by liberals such as George Soros. As the Washington Times recently reported,

Mr. Michaels heads a group called the Project on Scientific Knowledge and Public Policy (SKAPP), which is extremely friendly to plaintiffs’ lawyers and is funded in large part by George Soros’ Open Society Institute.

The anti-BPA scare-campaign cost consumers untold millions of dollars and untold numbers of jobs. That’s not to mention the amount of emotional damage this junk-science inflicted on Americans who were sure they had harmed their baby by giving them the wrong plastic bottle. … Oh yeah, Michaels’ also helped line the pockets of trial lawyers who made money by suing manufacturers of products made with BPA. All of this, despite countless evidence that BPA was safe.

Sadly, avoiding an over-regulated business climate that kills jobs and scares parents is not all we have to worry about.

Like Obama’s other “Czars” and appointees, Michaels’ brand of radicalism extends beyond his area of expertise. In fact, Michaels sees even the 2nd Amendment as a work-place “regulatory” issue where he might, as head of OSHA, intervene.

Compared to Michaels, Mr. Van Jones is Mr. Dick Van Dyke.

Stop right there with the Pelosi-parts jokes. I have to see my children with these eyes. I’m only asking because A) I’m getting word overload on “astroturf” and B) astroturf isn’t part of a nefarious plot to drive grass out of existence, so I’m not sure it really fits here.

Yesterday, I posted a story here at RedState featuring screenshots of advertisements from around the country offering to pay people to become Obamacare advocates. I encouraged people to visit craigslist and see what they could find. Judging by the volume of responses at Twitter there are hundreds and hundreds more such ads in major cities from coast to coast.

Many of the ads are from the same handful of organizations, which may lead you to wonder two things. First, where is all this money coming from? Second, how much of this money is coming from Big Labor and Democrats Owner and General Manager, George Soros? Well you wouldn’t be the only person wondering.

They sort of slammed them — by implication, that is. They don’t have the guts to actually criticize their leaders. The best they can do is pick some conservative who might be guilty of the same offense, and criticize him. Then they leave it to you to connect the dots. As long as you do your homework, you can see they’re biting the hand that feeds… subtly.

In this case, the hypocrites are the team at ThinkProgress. They said nothing when George Soros bragged about having made a cool billion off of the global economic downturn, and seemed delighted at finally getting the recession he’d been predicting:

George Soros, who predicted the global financial crisis twice before, was one of the few people to anticipate and prepare for the current economic collapse…

But other investors failed to take notice of his prediction and his decision to come out of retirement in 2007 to manage the fund made him $US2.9 billion.

And while the financial crisis continued to deepen across the globe, the 78-year-old still managed to make $1.1 billion last year.

‘It is, in a way, the culminating point of my life’s work,’ he told national newspaper The Australian.

ThinkProgress also didn’t raise a stink about Michelle Obama hypocritically parading around in $540 sneakers. Nor did they criticize Barack Obama for the costliest inauguration in American history.

Unable to muster the cojones to criticize one of their own, ThinkProgress goes after one of their favorite targets - Rush Limbaugh:

After more or less reprising his radio show routine, Limbaugh went on to brag about his $400 million contract with Clear Channel Communications. As he continued to gloat about his show’s success, Limbaugh mocked the idea that Americans are suffering, noting, “I’ve never had financially a down year” despite the “supposed” recession…

I’m sure ThinkProgress isn’t going easy on Soros because he bankrolls them. There’s probably some good reason. I wonder if he recognizes the vicious hit they’re taking at him — extremely obliquely.

Update: The Left seems to come unhinged when you attack Soros! Rather than admit he’s contemptible, several are trying to argue that Rush is denigrating those who are hurting during these tough times, while Soros is not. The only thing is, ‘I’m having a very good crisis’ is actually worse than anything Rush has said. And Soros has said plenty of other stuff worthy of our contempt. Once again, they find it hard to be honest about the guy who’s bankrolling them.

Look, we always joke that the left is more about indoctrination than education, but this is ridiculous.

Bill Ayers (yeah him), the Woods Fund of Chicago that Barack Obama used to manage, and George Soros are funding some program called the “Fair Test.” And it’s not just them. The Fair Test has ties to NARAL, various Democratic party sub-groups, and a host of other left wing interests.

The “Fair Test” isn’t really a test at all. It’s a movement to scrap standardized tests for college admissions standards because the left is convinced they discriminate. In fact, under the “Fair Test”, the left doesn’t even really want colleges to look at a student’s grade point average.

Why?

The left has so bought in to the notion that standardized tests discriminate against preferred groups, they need a new end-run around the growing effort to get rid of race-based preferential admissions policies.

Given how entrenched the Fair Test movement is in the Democrat Party, watch for Congress to start whittling away at standardized tests for college admissions in favor of a more “holistic” approach.
