FireDogLake Attacks Sen. Nelson’s Demand to include Stupak Amendment

Like wolves on a fresh killed deer, the liberals keep tearing up Democrats over Representative Stupak’s amendment, which forces pro-abortion Dems to vote for pro-life protections for the innocents.

This has sites like FireDogLake completely bent:

“Is there anyone who did not see this coming, besides the over hundred Democrats in the House who call themselves pro-choice? Ben Nelson (D-NE) is now demanding the Senate also include the Stupak amendment language. Did anyone really think the Senate’s conservative Democrats would let any part of the House bill be to the right of the Senate? If Nelson gets his way (and when hasn’t Nelson gotten his way this year?), so much for “don’t worry, Obama will fix it in conference.”

From Politico,

“Senator Nelson is strongly pro-life and was pleased the Stupak amendment passed with such strong support,” Thompson said in a statement. “He believes that no federal money—including subsidies or tax credits–should be used to buy insurance coverage for abortion. This is a very important issue to Senator Nelson and it is highly unlikely he would support a bill that doesn’t clearly prohibit federal dollars from going to abortion.”

“It is a good thing NARAL and Planned Parenthood did not put up a fight before the Stupak amendment was added to the House bill. It is always so much easier to push things to the left in the Senate. . . .

But NARAL and Planned Parenthood got rolled by Speaker Pelosi, and now pro-abortion Senators will be forced to make the same choice pro-abortion House Dems did, but this time, the NARALs and Planned Parenthoods of the world can’t just roll over and play dead, like they did for their pal the Speaker.

The Case For Life: Changing One Heart At A Time

Promoted by Jeff. Click here to Digg this excellent post.

The newly released Gallup poll finding 51% percent of Americans considering themselves “pro-life” and 42% considering themselves “pro-choice” demonstrates a significant change in the electorate on this hot button issue.

This is great news for people who believe in the sanctity of life over personal convenience. Many of us who have been active in the pro-life movement have focused on just this thing, that is changing the hearts and minds of Americans.

The countless crisis pregnancy centers across the nation are doing that every day. As someone who worked for such a center for over 5 years, I can tell you that on a grassroots level, pro-life activists in these centers have been successful at changing hearts and minds one at a time for years. One by one, the eyes of young women have been opened to the sanctity of life and the dignity and value that each life has. The use of technology has also made this argument easier to make.

Young women can come into these centers and see their baby on an ultrasound (something denied them even if requested in Planned Parenthood.) And make no mistake, there is a reason that the abortion-for-profit centers run by Planned Parenthood and their allies in the abortion industry deny this option to their girls. Statistically somewhere north of 80% will choose life if they see their child on an ultrasound. Put simply, if given all of the facts, more and more women are choosing life for their unplanned or inconvenient pregnancies.

Exposing Planned Felonhood

A new generation uses the web to fight for life.

Sometimes the best way to catch the bad guys is by running a scam. Police departments across the country, for example, have had some success by running a variation of the Publisher’s Clearing House scam. Appealing to a crook’s strong sense of greed, wanted criminals were contracted and notified that they had come into to some money, by inheritance, class action suit awards or some other windfall. The trick is to make the amount of money the criminals allegedly have coming to them sufficient enough to get their attention, but not so unbelievable to scare them off. Bad guys have been rounded up by the dozens this way, literally walking right into the hands of the authorities.

Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator” program has used a version of the scam to rope in sexual predators, or would-be sexual predators. Instead of using money as bait, the television series uses a woman who poses as an underage girl on internet chat rooms. When the hapless horndogs think they have succeeded in seducing the sweet young thing online, the “girl” mentions that her “parents” are out of town, and of course the salivating scumbag can’t resist showing up at the house, only to be greeted by TV cameras and the program’s host Chris Hansen. After a few minutes of on-camera humiliation by Hansen, the guys get over their momentary astonishment, begin fumbling for their car keys and try to beat a hasty retreat. Unfortunately for them, police officers are waiting outside, where the creeps are arrested and taken to jail.

The only moral outrage over this deceptive practice, of course, is that the would-be predators thought they could actually get away with it. Using what amounts to a white lie to bait the bastages is a much lesser sin than what the guys were hoping to get away with. Surely it’s worth a little deception to get these guys off the street. Who in his or her right mind is going to stand up and protest the use of deception to catch a predator? It cannot be done without giving the appearance of supporting the bad guys, and we don’t want them preying on our daughters, kid sisters and nieces. So “To Catch a Predator” is only mildly controversial.

“I always will come down on the side of life”

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin released a statement today, responding to an e-mail campaign started in September by pro-abortion activists calling for donations to be made to Planned Parenthood on Palin’s behalf. The former GOP vice presidential candidate is a staunch opponent of the grisly practice of abortion.
