It appears that the Illinois legislature will be gathering on Monday to consider passing a bill for a special election to fill President-elect’s Obama’s Senate seat. The bill would take two days to pass. This is the option that the Senior Senator of Illinois Dick Durbin (Democrat) has been pushing for. This option would keep Governor Blagojevich from naming a person to fill Obama’s vacated seat. Emil Jones who is the outgoing Illinois Senate President (and a possible candidate for the seat) has said that he will call the Senate to session to consider the bill, but has not said when the Illinois Senate will reconvene.
