Quote for the Day: Illegal Immigration Edition

Just some food for thought in light of Obama’s recent  decision to circumvent Congress and grant amnesty to illegal aliens under the age of 30. The quote is long but I do think it’s worth posting:

I do not remember one single instance in 30 years where the Immigration service has removed strikebreakers to the extent the workers were helped and the illegal alien workers were removed. The employers use professional smugglers to recruit and transport human contraband across the Mexican border for the specific act of strikebreaking, rampant in the strikes of the last 30 years. Lawbreaking begets more lawbreaking, and when these illegal aliens come in to break a strike they have to be harbored; they have to be transported; and labor contractors have to be used to direct them and supervise them.

What about the other laws? What about the contributions the employers have to make to social security and unemployment insurance? How are those contributions made? These men do not have social security numbers. They do not live here; they are just here for a little while to break the strike.

The Immigration and Naturalization Service steadfastly refuses to enforce the law; not only that, but then they get into a dispute with us because we call their shortcomings to their attention We accuse them of looking the other way while the strike is being broken and then they have a way of taking punitive action against us and our people.

Was this some right-wing anti-immgration zealot? A Tom Tancredo type? No, it was Cesar Chavez, the famous UFW union organizer and Mr. “Si Se Puede” himself, testifying before Congress in 1979. He also worked with Dolores Heurta, the socialist who President Obama recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It’s sort of strange that you find him celebrated as such a darling of the Reconquista, La Raza, and Mexican pride, as he probably would have found common cause with the Minutemen.

All of this just goes to underscore that the concerns over how 800,000 newly legalized young immigrants will affect the unemployment situation in this country. Since the vast majority of these are Hispanics, it’s important to note that the current unemployment rate for Hispanic teens 16-19 was 30.4%, as of May, and the numbers for Hispanic men and women 20 and older aren’t great either at 9.6 and 9.2 percent respectively. These numbers are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and I suspect if they measured from 20-30 years old specifically, the numbers there would be much worse than 9 or 10 percent.

I was pleasantly surprised to see where someone at this site stuck to the facts and nothing but the facts in debunking birther claims and/or misrepresentations of the alleged facts, so then I decided to see what else you had written expecting to see a refreshing view the demonstrated why I was once a Republican.

It took less than a minute to find this knowing and willful misrepresentation or characterization of the facts, reminding me once again that reasonableness for the GOP is but fleeting moments.

The opening statement for your post would have been ACCURATE had you said – GOP attempting to usurp powers expressly vested by the United States Constitution in the President of these United States.

Surely a reasonable person wouldn’t argue that a governor’s “stay” of the order to execute a sentence is a grant of “amnesty”? A “stay” of the execution of a sentence, judgement, proceeding, or the like, is not an “amnesty,” and it never has been here or anywhere else in the world. The two are not even remotely similar operations.

And, while it may be clear the parents of those covered by this “stay” broke our laws, it is not clear that their children were acting of their own accord, or whether they were simply doing as God directs and obeying their parents. While I have never doubted that tyrants like Lamer Smith of Texas and a whole pack of other Republican leaders would gladly sacrifice 10 innocent people to give their constituents, a pound of flesh to sacrifice upon their alter of greed, unless you’re advocating corruption of blood as the law of land here, fitting policy for tyranny, then proving which acted on the former or the latter is a near impossible task.

It still remains up to Congress to decide if they want to produce policy that works corruption of blood and/or punish the innocent for the crimes of others. My opinion – President Obama did it this way purposefully so that GOP members of Congress could not escape the consequences of their conduct with clean hands.

Lastly, and the whole debate actually starts and ends here, Article 2, section 2 is overtly clear that “he shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”

There is NOTHING ambiguous here – it goes without saying, unless your proposing a Congress of absolute power, that Congress has ABSOLUTELY no authority to legislate or condition the powers vested by the U.S. Constitution in the Executive. Blunt and simple – the President of these Untied States does not need Mitch McConnell’s, or John Boehner’s permission, nor the permission of any the demagogues of the GOP propaganda engine like Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, etc… to exercise this power as expressly granted by the U.S. Constitution.

this is a #FAIL on so many levels.

      1. There is no “corruption of the blood” involved here. You are either here legally or not. Binary. Two choices. It doesn’t matter if you are here of your own accord, you are either here or not.

      2. Not only are you a former Republican (hahahaha, if I had a freakin nickel for every time I’ve seen that claim) you are a former account holder here.
