And the Lion Will Lay Down With the Lamb

or at least the PUMAs

I’ll confess it. Once upon a time, I thought Hillary Clinton was the Wicked Witch of the West. I thought she was the most destructive thing that could ever happen to the United States. I thought her supporters opposed everything I ever cared about. And now, I’m really starting to like those guys. How can this be?

First, Hillary impressed me with her refusal to lay down and die like the Obamedia told her to do. She fought right on. She spent her own money fighting Obama. She donated more to the cause of keeping him out of the White House than any single other person. More time. More money. She’s no sissy quitter. I don’t like a lot of her policy positions, but I started to respect her somewhere along that long primary campaign.

Then one day I’m reading my beloved Ace. I follow a link over to Hillbuzz and I really like those guys. I’m so shocked that a Hillary Supporter Page on the internet has a bookmark on my computer. I feel like I am living in the twilight zone.

But I want to show you some of the posts there that made me decide to post this diary.

I’m John McCain

and this is my closing speech after the debate tonight because America deserves the government it has.

My fellow Americans, I have spent my life in service to this nation that I love. I was willing to die to protect her and I remain endlessly committed to her in all ways.

Following my time in the military I entered Congress and have spent the last twenty years of my life proving that I am committed to the success of her citizens and the protection of her people.

I have proven my commitment to limiting the intrusion of gov’t into your lives and have tried to limit your tax burden at every turn.

Now we reach a time of decision. I have explained that raising taxes, as my opponent proposes, will hurt our economy. I have explained my plan to cut taxes to stimulate the mighty engine of American ingenuity.

I have pledged to keep your tax burden as low as possible and to fight against government waste.

I have pledged to protect this nation from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

But now your choice looms. You will choose between freedom or gov’t control. You will choose between military might or appeasement. You will choose between economic freedom or class warfare.

You can’t know the future or the challenges it holds. But you are required
to choose a leader who is able to confront unknown challenges. Choose
wisely, for your future and the future of your children will be affected by
the vote you will cast.

Now this is kind of funny. Hubby started this for me with a much varied speech. Kind of a cram it up your rear if you’re stupid enough to vote for him. I agreed, but when I started writing it, it just kinda morphed into this. Kind of a tough love, ‘poop or get off the pot’ kind of speech. I hope he gives it.

Does this make me a racist?

Or just smarter than the average bear.

And, yeah, it’s safe for work. Even though it is … oh, I’d better not say what I think of Howard Stern or this diary won’t be.

For those of you guys with dial-up, Howard Stern’s man goes out into Harlem and asks people whom they support. When he finds an Obama supporter, he attributes McCain’s positions to him and asks if that is why he supports Obama. They are on tape saying that they support Obama because they support the right to life, a victorious end to the Iraq War, oppose stem-cell research, and think that Sarah Palin will make a great VP.

I think as a precondition of being allowed to vote, you must have either paid real estate property taxes or paid income taxes at least two of the previous four years. At some point, the people who have a real stake in the operation of our government should have the voice as to its operation.

My mom says that you don’t have an obligation to vote. You have an obligation to get informed. Then you will vote. Some people should listen to my mom.

As George Carlin said, ”Think about how stupid the average American that you meet is, and then realize that half of them are dumber than that.” (quote stolen from Rachel Lucas commenter)

We are so hosed.

We are screwed.

Too many smiles on snakes for this to be good.

So, they have just come out and announced a deal. It will be presented tomorrow.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and especially Chuckie Schumer can’t wipe those excrement eating grins off their faces, so this is all bad.

Roy Blunt wouldn’t even commit to supporting anything. He said we would just have to wait and see what came out on paper and he would present it to his people and see what they would say. He never smiled at all.

In other words, we can expect people to default on their mortgages with impunity, HUGE payments to ACORN and La Raza, and a further nationalization of our financial sector.

This will be great, when the greatest snakes in the grass who ever existed have control over the money of the country’s banks.

I saw today on the news (it was either Ted Nugent or Barry Goldwater, Jr.): Never let your dog watch your food or Congress watch your money.

Civilian boots on the ground

Because I know you want to know what we've been doing.

Just to brag on our local party and the things we are doing to win elections. We had a little meeting tonight to listen to a phone call from the McCain campaign, clean up the office and talk about our game plan for the election.

Our big push is to improve our turnout. On election day we call Republicans and remind them to vote. It is a multi-part operation, including phone calls from the headquarters, monitors at the polling places, and runners that transport information between the two.

Callers sit in headquarters and call people to remind them to vote. The monitors, sitting in the polling stations, check names off the list of potential Republican voters who have voted. The runners go around gathering updated lists and transporting them to HQ. That way we don’t call people reminding them to vote when they have already done so, allowing us to concentrate our efforts on the people who still need to go.

This year has been great for us because we had a contested primary in both parties. Missouri has an open primary, so you can pick up a ballot from either party when you vote in the primary. This year, however, the primaries were still very much in limbo when it got to MO on super Tuesday. We figured that meant that people would actually be more likely to take the ballot for their own party than they would if the primaries were only contested in one or the other party.

We had monitors who sat at each of the polling places with a list of registered voters on super Tuesday and kept track of which ones took an R ballot versus a D ballot. It wasn’t all that nice, because for me at least, the D election judge really didn’t like the idea of a Republican sitting there and she did her best to keep me from seeing who it was that voted and which ballot they took. But we got through it with a lot of valuable name and party information.

Now, when we call people on election day to remind them to go vote, we are much more likely to get Republicans than accidentally call and remind a Democrat.

We will also be making more calls between now and election day, where we will function more as pollsters, just asking for party ID and asking if they intend to vote for McCain or Obama. The McCain voters will get reminded on
E-day, the Obama voters will get their windows soaped. :) j/k

This plan has worked pretty well for us in the past, as our county gave Matt Blunt a 10,000 vote margin to help counteract the morons in KC and StL. Hopefully it will work as well for McCain and Hulshof.

Nancy Boyda, liar, Kansas

How do they get away with it?

Nancy Boyda defeated Republican Jim Ryun for the Kansas 2nd Congressional seat in 2006. She is running this year against Lynn Jenkins.

Boyda is a perfectly good democrat who has refused to break ranks with Pelosi on her energy intransigence.

So, I’m coming home this evening and hear a commercial on the radio from Boyda, discussing how she is going to run a good clean campaign and represent Kansas, blah, blah, blah. Then she said she is including an insert in such and such newspaper discussing her energy solutions, which include expanded drilling and alternative fuels. No kidding.

How stupid are voters? Is it possible that they will bite on this little well covered hook? She has voted for expanded gov’t control, including fuel economy, increasing taxes on oil companies and chased some rabbit down a hole on unused leases. The one thing she hasn’t done is pushed for more drilling.

Where does she get off putting that as her number one solution in a re-election ad? And why are there not howls of protest among the watchdogs of democracy (yes, I mean the legacy media) when a politician makes such an outlandish claim?
