So, they have just come out and announced a deal. It will be presented tomorrow.
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and especially Chuckie Schumer can’t wipe those excrement eating grins off their faces, so this is all bad.
Roy Blunt wouldn’t even commit to supporting anything. He said we would just have to wait and see what came out on paper and he would present it to his people and see what they would say. He never smiled at all.
In other words, we can expect people to default on their mortgages with impunity, HUGE payments to ACORN and La Raza, and a further nationalization of our financial sector.
This will be great, when the greatest snakes in the grass who ever existed have control over the money of the country’s banks.
I saw today on the news (it was either Ted Nugent or Barry Goldwater, Jr.): Never let your dog watch your food or Congress watch your money.

It Was Ted Nugent (n/t)

GIVING MORE PEOPLE'S MONEY TO ACORN MEANS "DEATH OF REPUBLICAN PARTY".
Rod_Patrick Sunday, September 28th at 12:00AM EDT (link)Among others, the Reid’s ACORN Bailout Plan MUST BE stop.
It must be a non-negotiable to all Republicans.
The word from the Corner is no ACORN.

This jibes with what we were hearing - I think that ACORN was in there in large part to give the House GOP something to cheerfully kill - but I’m not privy to the full negotiations. Heck, I’m not even outhouse.

Over here, John...
DrOldSchool Sunday, September 28th at 12:44AM EDT (link)He’s back… he jumped off the trail to make a difference, and I don’t see how he did. The House GOP deserves the credit for getting what little they did.
Maybe I’m wrong, but if I’m not, good luck spinning it differently. The McCain team haven’t spun anything well since the convention.
I reviewed what the politico said about it, and it really stinks IMO. The two “compromises”… well, the first will disappear if O and the Dems take control next year with new legislation on a party line vote. The other one, regarding insurance, appears to only be an option if Paulson dictates. Maybe companies will do the insurance to avoid the pay caps? Otherwise, never give a bureaucrat a blank check and expect him not to overdraw it, let alone cash it.
I know something had to be done. But my initial reaction is far from positive.

this does not look good for taxpayers.
skicougar Sunday, September 28th at 12:53AM EDT (link)after watching democrat statements of the ‘watching out for the taxpayer’ on the news channels come out today, you knew the democrats had gotten the cover they needed.
like so:
“We believe that the taxpayer should not be left holding the bag at the end of the day, and we’ve proposed a way to address that,” said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), a member of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s leadership team.
dont know if the possibility of a black monday got house gop to give in, or if they actually got what the gop wanted to help the taxpayers and the democrats were just the first to the camera; but i dont believe the news of the late afternoon’s blow-up and schumer coming in is good news for the taxpayers.
Eat ‘em up Houston Cougars !
It may be gone.
itrytobenice Sunday, September 28th at 12:57AM EDT (link)ACORN may be gone but I’m just going by the evidence right in front of me:
Chuckie Schumer, SanFranNan, The Ghost of Dorian Gray - all grinning like Cheshire cats. Roy Blunt - looks like he’s on his way to his best friend’s funeral.
Not good for me.
The problem with America is stupidity. I’m not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don’t we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
I will now lay out my plan..it is as follows..

itrytobenice Sunday, September 28th at 1:25AM EDT (link)As Newt has said, it’s a real problem when the people who regulate banking (and who, coincidentally, got us into this mess) are the ones writing the legislation that will “save” banking. Methinks there is a slush fund around here somewhere.

Maybe they are grinning because
wennejunk Sunday, September 28th at 6:04AM EDT (link)Maybe they are grinning because after 2 years in control of the House and Senate they actually did something productive and they finally know what it feels like to earn ones pay.
