Great work, President Obama. You managed to insult the Emperor & Empress, the people of Japan and most, if not all, Americans. First of all, the Japanese do not bow while touching the other person – it is not a part of Japanese culture to shake hands and bow – one or the other is acceptable. To try to do both shows that you are very ignorant about Japanese culture and did not bother to learn. As President, you have a staff that includes protocol experts that are supposed to brief you regarding the customs of other nations. Of course, as someone who believes that there are 57 states and a language called Austrian, you cannot be bothered by these protocol people. Just as you cannot be bothered by those people trying to tell you that your health care plan is a disaster. You know better!
