Now that you are all pumped up – Time to take action

Houston Radio Host Michael Berry puts it all in a nutshell. Get involved or let the democrats run your lives. What more do they have to do, to get you involved? What little dignity you have left must be mustered up or forever hold your peace.

Thanks for posting this, izoneguy. Michael Berry pretty much says it all.

Yesterday I caught on C-Span a re-broadcast of Americans for Prosperity’s Defending The American Dream Summit that took place the day before in DC. The clip is now up on C-Span’s web site here. The whole thing is worth watching, but especially the remarks of AFP Foundation North Carolina Staff Director Dallas Woodhouse that begin at about the 33:30 mark who also, like Michael Berry, implores his audience to actually get involved in GOTV efforts. (Mr. Woodhouse’s remarks begin at about the 33:30 mark. You can “fast foward” to it by scrolling the slider to it or, if you look on the right side of the page, below the video window, you’ll see that C-Span has created clips of the remarks of some of the speakers, including those of Mr. Woodhouse.)

Then, similarly, fast forward to the 49:45 mark and watch the address of Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who, near the end of his remarks, after an overview of all the unconstitutional legislation the progressives have enacted and plan to enact, At the 59:00 mark he begins to ask the audience to ACT in their local communities to GOTV.

Americans for Prosperity is doing great things in Arizona, where I live, to help GOTV and is working with conservatives in the tea party and 9.12 groups, and other grass roots conservative groups, to help get out the conservative vote in the upcoming general election. I attended a meeting AFP AZ held last Friday in Scottsdale as part of their “November Is Coming” bus tour to raise awareness about the need for conservatives to help GOTV between now and Nov. 2. At that event, Tom Jenny, the AZ director of AFP, asked 250 or so attendees to raise their hands if they had helped to GOTV for any candidate in the AZ by either walking a precinct with literature or making a phone call or putting up a sign for a candidate. It appeared only about 30 per cent raised their hands.

Several of the tea party leaders here in the Phoenix area have told me they believe most of their members just don’t actually do much in terms of GOTV for our August 24 primary election, even those who have taken the initiative to become precinct committeemen in the Republican Party. They come to the meetings, where they hear from a few speakers, and then they go home and await the next meeting.

Some good news. Voter turnout for our August 24 primary election increased significantly to just over 30 per cent of registered voters, up from 22.8 per cent for the 2008 primary election. And, almost twice as many voters (we have an open primary) voted in the Republican primary as in the Democrat primary. Which, alone, is a very good sign. But, of course, wishing that every registered Republican and Republican-leaning registered independent voter actually vote in the general election is one thing and making it happen is another. Making it happen means actually volunteering for the specific GOTV tasks outlined by Michael Berry, Dallas Woodhouse and Gov. Bob McDonnell.

    For Liberty,
ColdWarrior, PC (that?s ?precinct committeeman,? not ?political child!?)
Conservatives, UNITE! CHANGE the Republican Party and save the world by UNITING INSIDE the Party as precinct committeemen. NOW! (65 days until Nov. 2 — what are YOU DOING to help get out the vote in your precinct?)
