John Edwards admits affair
From Fox News online:
“In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.”
I guess this is sort of along the lines of the “I didn’t inhale” defense.
“According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.”
Being promoted to a high position without a lot of relevant experience seems to be par for the course for Democrats these days – why should Hunter have been any different?
“Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife’s cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.”
I get it – if your wife’s cancer is in remission, then it is OK to cheat on her. If it is not, then better keep the chinos zipped and Big Johnny at bay.
There really are two Americas – one where you cheat on your wife, and one where you don’t. Of course Mrs. Edwards will stick by her man, as Democrat wives are known to do, and that seems to fit nicely into the whole political persona of Democrats – either they are cheaters, or enablers.
I wish I could be less harsh, but I am so tired of being hectored by joyless, pompous scolds who can’t keep their own lives in order I can’t seem to be anything but.
