EPA Regulations Wreak Havoc on Ohio Coal, Electric Companies

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  November 1st at 01:00 PM  |

The Utility Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) rules imposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are taking a toll on Ohio’s coal industry and are expected to increase citizens’ electricity costs. Utility MACT, a series of bureaucratic regulations created under the Clean Air Act with the support of President Obama and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), has already caused coal-fired plant closures and layoffs.

Ohio’s “Recovery” Due to Shrinking Labor Force

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 29th at 11:30 AM  |

Ohio’s unemployment rate paints a misleading picture of the state’s economy, an Opportunity Ohio report and separate Media Trackers analysis reveal. The unemployment rate reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) dropped from 10.6 percent in July 2009 to 7.2 percent in August 2012, but the change resulted from a shrinking labor force as opposed to strong job growth.

Voter Fraud Scheme Caught on Film: “Faking a utility bill would be easy enough”

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 24th at 06:36 PM  |

Project Veritas filmed Patrick Moran, son of Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA), helping devise a plan to commit voter fraud using a list of inactive voters’ names and addresses. Moran was a full-time employee of his father’s campaign at the time, and portions of the conversation were filmed at campaign headquarters.

NEA Spins Anti-Fraud Billboards into Progressive Rallying Cry

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 23rd at 07:13 PM  |

The National Education Association (NEA) and an army of other left-wing groups are working desperately to spin billboards meant to deter voter fraud into a get-out-the-vote drive in Ohio and Wisconsin. NEA and its state affiliates have joined a “voter suppression” rallying cry over billboards which simply read “VOTER FRAUD IS A FELONY!” and listed the maximum penalty for committing voter fraud.

Forced Dues Make Ohio Education Association a Powerful Obama Ally

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 17th at 02:00 PM  |

The Ohio Education Association (OEA) has promoted Barack Obama’s campaign with cover features in every issue of its “Ohio Schools” magazine since the start of the school year, and did the same in 2008. OEA claims to represent the interests of all Ohio teachers, but many educators who disagree with OEA’s politics are required by state law to pay hundreds of dollars in dues even if they opt out of the union.

Liberal PolitiFact Ohio Labels Truth “Mostly False”

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 15th at 09:45 AM  |

Liberal PolitiFact Ohio Labels Truth "Mostly False"

Left-leaning PolitiFact Ohio pronounced a factual claim from U.S. Senate candidate Josh Mandel, a Republican, “Mostly False” on October 10. When compared to past rulings, this is yet another piece of evidence the Cleveland Plan Dealer’s “fact checking” outlet is riddled with liberal bias and lacks any scientific processes. In an October 10 Plain Dealer story, Washington correspondent Sabrina Eaton introduced Mandel’s claim that ”Sherrod Brown missed | Read More »

AFSCME Uses Forced Dues to Promote Obama, Pummel Romney

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 11th at 04:00 PM  |

American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 8, one of Ohio’s largest public employee unions, has mimicked D.C. union bosses by releasing a steady barrage of pro-Obama, anti-Romney communications through its website. As reported by Media Trackers in July, AFSCME Council 8 pushes liberal politics on its members using money taken from their paychecks.

Ohio Senate Race Skewed by “Pants on Fire” Media Narrative

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  October 9th at 11:00 AM  |

In the U.S. Senate race between Democrat incumbent Sherrod Brown and Republican challenger Josh Mandel, a PolitiFact Ohio narrative – that Mandel is a ridiculous liar – has taken center stage, aided by reporters who treat PolitiFact Ohio as an objective source and ignore proof of the publication’s liberal bias.

Newspapers Enable PolitiFact Ohio’s Liberal Bias

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  September 10th at 11:52 AM  |

PolitiFact Ohio – the “fact checking” wing of the Cleveland Plain Dealer – faces proof of staffers’ liberal bias after two years of being cited as an authority by all six of Ohio’s major newspapers. Although a recent Media Trackers report debunked the outlet’s claim to objectivity, most of the state’s biggest dailies continue to treat PolitiFact Ohio as an objective source. On August 16, Media Trackers | Read More »

Thirteen Sherrod Brown Falsehoods Ignored by PolitiFact Ohio

By: Jason Hart (Diary)  |  August 20th at 08:17 AM  |

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) has a friend in PolitiFact Ohio, the leftist “fact checking” wing of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. It’s no wonder: Sherrod has been a fixture of deep-blue Cleveland politics for decades, and his wife was a Plain Dealer columnist until she resigned after being caught on tape filming Senate challenger Josh Mandel at a Tea Party event last year.
