Top 10 Reasons O Admin is going to keep 9-11 Truther Jones

Since the Obama administration seems to be digging in its heels and not immediately ditching 9-11 Truther Van Jones, the “Green” Czar, I did some investigating to try to determine the top 10 reasons why they want Jones to remain on the White House payroll.

To wit…

10. Already had plans to feature him in his speech to the ObamaYouth on Tuesday as another example of a black man who has made it in a white, racist country.

9. Makes Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid look moderate by comparison.

8. There’s a Green Czar? Obama missed him during introduction to other 36 unelected and unconfirmed Czars

7. Bill Ayers is not available to replace him (busy on his book tour)

6. Obama can no sooner disown Jones as his own racist white grandmother (oops, used that one already for another racist pal)

5. Joe Biden really enjoys Van’s raps

4. Test the MSM to see how much crap he can get into and count on them to get him out of it

3. Intends to count this as one of the jobs the stimulus package “saved”

2. Professional Courtesy - Sets precedent for 2012, so Sarah Palin admin can employ Birthers without too much scrutiny.

1. Obama agrees with Jones.

Paglia: Too Little Too Late

Or: I still love Sarah Palin
Camille Paglia, my favorite feminist, is having some post-election buyers remorse, I think.

She has spoken glowingly of Sarah Palin before, and she does so again today, affirming:

Chambliss bringing in big guns to fight Martin and Obama

Or, who he needs to bring in...

Fox5 Atlanta is reporting this morning that the Chambliss campaign is bringing in (drumroll)……John McCain (release that sigh!) to campaign in Cobb County for Chambliss.

The Chambliss camp is characterizing the runoff here as “the first race in the 2010 election.”

I might add it’s also the first test in the 2012 Presidential election (for the GOP).

So, McCain is all well and good (seeing as he outpolled Saxby), but, if Chambliss wants real help in this run-off there are two Republicans who can really help him, and help their 2012 chances, and those would be…

Tough times at USA Today

Cutting costs by using morons to write editorials

One of the fun things about flying is you get to pick up free newspapers in airports as you wait. Today, as I enjoyed a little. Memphis BBQ, I perused the A section of the Nation’s Newspaper, USA Today.

I know times are tough for the print media, but, honestly, did USA Today need to cut costs by having morons on the editorial page. I feel sorry for Jonah Goldberg (who’s writing I really enjoy), who has an insightful article in this rag today, “Election Questions No One Ever Asks’, but he has to share the opinion page today with the idiots who write this other dreck.

Thoughts, randomly presented

Or what the heck do these things mean

I keep hearing that Barack Obama is the son of an immigrant (or immigrants).

Since an immigrant is “a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence” and his mother was a citizen by birth and his father demonstrated no desire to stay here (and didn’t), does that really make him really the son of even one immigrant? I say not. So, stop saying it.

Chambliss vs. Martin

Or, how the Dems will lie and cheat to win an election

This election season, because Barack’s got more money than God, and because of a “righteous wind at their back” here in Georgia, we are getting to see ads this season like never before.

I haven’t seen too many Obama ads, but I saw the first one tonight. The blatant dishonesty and misrepresentations in this ad make me wish someone would just use that race card, if it’s so damn effective (it must be, as scared of it as they are).

Health Care - Obama vs. McCain

Where I debate a liberal over health care

A liberal co-worker and I have had a back and forth via email over health care. Here’s some if it.

Me:

I was very bothered the other night in the debate to hear Obama, the champion of “change” try to scare voters by saying that McCain wants to do away with the tax break that employers get for providing health care. IF ONE IS EVEN A PASSING STUDENT OF OUR CURRENT SYSTEM, ONE MUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE CURRENT METHOD OF EMPLOYER-FUNDING IS THE REASON WE ARE IN THE MESS WE’RE IN. I write that in all caps, because, if you don’t agree with that, there is no point in reading further.

I have to start with first principles. These are mine, not someone else’s, though I am sure others believe them as well. They are not the only first principles I could list, but they are the most apt to this problem:

  1. I believe that a free and open marketplace provides the best odds for distribution of resources in a market/economy.
  2. I believe that individuals, given enough information, will make decisions that are in their best personal interest (this would include health care decisions, as well as financial decisions, among others).

I will stipulate these facts vis a vis the health care situation in the United States, and agree that addressing these issues would go a long way towards solving the problems many people see in the health care industry:

  1. Health care costs are rising out of control, outpacing increases in wages, and even the inflation rate, and that this is a decades-long trend that any solution must reverse.
  2. There are far too many people (who are not in transitory situations), who are without health insurance, and this number must be reduced, to zero as a goal.
  3. A pure free market insurance solution will seek to apply higher costs to the sick.

Looking at the range of solutions, they are bracketed by a purely consumer based solution, where we all pay what the services actually cost, out of our pocket, and a completely government-run entitlement system, where we pay nothing at the time of service, but the system is funded by the government (through our tax dollars, deficit-spending, whatever schemes the government needs to devise to pay the providers). The answer lies somewhere in between these two extremes.

Lindsay Graham - Are you really John McCain’s Friend

Horrible advocate on FNS

Lindsay Graham tried to blame his lack of sleep on his awful performance on McCain’s behalf today on FNS.

Against the biggest loser in American history (John Effing Kerry) he was awful and couldn’t defend McCain, Palin, or himself. At one point, Chris Wallace nearly had to take on Kerry alone, after he bloviated and lied unchecked by Graham.

I am tired of the Democrats trying to make Barack Obama seem the savior in the financial bailout negotiations. During the “disastrous” White House meeting last week, the Dems allowed Barack Obama to seem the lead negotiator for Democrats, basically by having him parrot a whole bunch of their talking points and positions as previously crafted by Dodd, Frank, et.al.

Meanwhile, McCain rightly realized that House Republicans were the key to these negotiations, and that without them to provide political cover to the Democrats (who, let’s face it, could have passed a bailout without any GOP support)nothing was going to happen, since the D’s were spineless and unwilling to see a deal that was solely a Dem/Paulson plan go forward, without, apparently, about 100 votes from House Republicans.

So, those House Republicans were/are key to getting a deal. McCain recognized this, and his plan and goal was to get that constituency heard, and enough of their concerns addressed to get them on board.

While John Effing Kerry and the Dems are trying to laud the Chosen One’s contribution to this as some great act of statesmanship and leadership (he read the talking points), Graham is ineffectively characterizing McCain’s part in this, which was to ensure the House GOP was involved in negotiations, that their principles were considered and crafted into the legislation, and that Dem goodies being passed out to radical, Obama-supported groups like ACORN were removed.

What we need to have our guys say about this is that “Leadership isn’t about how much you talk. Obama is a great speaker. He’s a great speaker who doesn’t actually say anything. Leadership also means listening, and understanding who needs to be part of a solution, and get them on board. This is a classic case of leading by doing less, and John McCain did that, and THAT has led to this deal.”

That’s my take.

Doris Kearns Goodwin is an idiot

and a left-wing hack

Doris Kearns Goodwin just said on MTP that “Nearly 1 out of 3 vice presidents have actually become president, mostly because of the death or assassination or the resignation of a president.”

Huh?
