Joe Scarborough Props Up A Clown For 9 Months; Now Complains About GOP Clowns

I was watching Morning Joe today and there was a certain point where I had to rewind it, needing to have it repeated back because I could couldn’t believe my freaking ears. There was Joe Scarborough, bemoaning how the GOP sends “clowns” to the national stage every four years.

Seriously? He actually had the audacity to complain about clowns in the GOP after watching him and Mika and everybody else on Morning Joe suck up to Donald Trump since last summer? Look at the video and try not to throw anything at your computer or throw your phone/tablet:

Partial transcript:

Scarborough: They perform so poorly. This year on a fifth grade level. And they constantly send one clown, after another clown, after another clown up on the national stage and it tarnishes the Republican brand in a way they have for years now. It remains one of the great mysteries of this Republican party.

He actually said that with a straight face.

The media has been derelict in their duty as a body of people who have the privilege of informing the public and providing well rounded coverage of political candidates. Donald Trump has dominated the news coverage, particularly on television and for what?

Ratings.

News people will deny it over and over but all anybody has to do is look at the amount of coverage Trump as received. This was from December:

Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, unsurprisingly, is the most-covered candidate in the race. In fact, he alone has gotten more airtime (234 minutes) than the entire Democratic field (226 minutes).

That is just nightly network coverage. That does not include all of the slobbering coverage he has received on cable news from Fox & Friends, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Eric Bolling. Oh….and Morning Joe on MSNBC with Joe Scarborough.

Joe wants to talk about clowns? Let’s harken back to a time before Donald was you know…..refusing to condemn David Duke and the KKK and look at some of what he has said:

On Mexican immigrants: “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists” – at his campaign launch, Trump Tower, New York City

On John McCain being a hero: “I like people who weren’t captured” – at the 2015 Family Leadership Summit in Iowa

On Carly Fiorina: “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!” – interview with Rolling Stone

On Ben Carson: “You don’t cure these people. You don’t cure a child molester… Pathological, there’s no cure for that” – interview with CNN

On Megyn Kelly: “She had blood coming out of her whatever” – following the first Republican debate, which Kelly moderated

On NY Times reporter Serge Kovaleski: “You’ve got to see this guy, ‘Ah, I don’t know what I said!'” at a rally in South Carolina

I’d like for Joe Scarborough to look at this list and tell us who the “clowns” are:

  • Rick Perry
  • Scott Walker
  • Bobby Jindal
  • Marco Rubio
  • Ted Cruz
  • Rand Paul
  • Carly Fiorina
  • Jeb Bush
  • John Kasich

I didn’t include Chris Christie because he became a clown the moment he endorsed the King Clown in this race, Donald Trump.

Sorry Joe. You and the rest of your friends in the media helped to create this monster because he brought in ratings. Don’t lamely try to blame the GOP for propping up clowns.

It’s all you’ve been doing since last June.
