Trump Shift On Medicaid Expansion Rollback: Let's Do It Sooner!

I guess it is true that whoever meets with  Trump last, has the most influence on him. Paul Ryan told people Donald Trump helped write the Obamacare replacement bill currently working its way through the House. That bill rolls back Medicaid expansion starting in December of 2020. Conservative groups say it should be sooner and now, the White House is signaling they’d go along with that.

From CNN:

The White House is privately lining up behind conservative calls to roll back Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion sooner than the health care reform bill currently calls for, two senior administration officials and a senior House conservative aide told CNN on Thursday.

White House officials are beginning to urge House GOP leadership to include an earlier sunset of the Medicaid expansion funds authorized under Obamacare than the 2020 date set by the current bill. The change comes just days after the bill was unveiled and follows a blitz of activism aimed squarely at the White House and President Donald Trump, who has met with conservative leaders in recent days.

This entire episode is going to be a giant cluster because the White House will not remain consistent on anything. Look at who we are talking about, here. President Trump tweets what he reads in Breitbart and sees on Fox News without bothering to see if it’s true. He’s easily influenced.

Therefore, the White House will signal they’re behind this change one week, another change the following week and on and on and on. Yet Trump says he’ll blame Democrats if a bill doesn’t get passed.

Good luck with that, Mr. President.
