COMMENTS

Excellent work Jeff! This chart definitely needs mass circulation!

  • Rod_Patrick

Jeff, this one is technically perfect.

  • Right_Again

Just knowing that her political affiliation matters less to her than cleaning up corruption and eliminating earmarks has me thrilled. I worry that an Obama presidency could rival the most corrupt governments in history. His shady associations and his unconcerned reaction to their past scandals really frightens me.

I’ve been a fence-sitter on McCain. But this pick has changed my mind. If the two of them are really serious about cleaning up the corruption and ending earmarks, it just might finally happen.

I don’t think Sarah Palin is especially qualified, (at least not much more qualified than Barack Obama) but if she goes after the corruption Washington as she has done in Alaska I’ll trust the foreign policy to John McCain.

  • Achance

It is the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and its primary duty is to manage the production rates and safety of oil wells in Alaska. It really doesn’t have much to do with “conservation” as the Greenies would use the term.

The AOGCC is a quasi-independent agency that administratively resides in Alaska’s Department of Administration. Organizational entities have to have a designated Ethics Supervisor under the Executive Branch Ethics Act. Palin was the commissioner designated to be the Ethics Supervisor for the AOGCC.

This fact actually contributed to the problems that led to her leaving the Murkowski Administration. She viewed herself has having responsibility for and authority over ethics issues in the AOGCC, yet for most things ministerial, AOGCC was a part of the Department of Administration, which also had an Ethics Supervisor, its Deputy Commissioner. A lot of the Administration’s inaction regarding her issues with Ruederich were a “I thought you did it,” “No, I thought you did it” thing and consequently nobody did anything. Then Sarah took it into her own hands. And that’s the story and I’m sticking to it.

  • Darcy

Barack Obama’s Republican opponent in his Senate race was not leading in the polls prior to the scandal (which was a ludicrously unfair scandal anyway, but never mind). Obama led in the polls throughout the race, which was to be expected given the disastrous state of the Republican party in Illinois at the time.

  • itrytobenice

As a fellow AG, I’m thrilled to have a Pentecostal on the ticket, though I saw what the media did to John Ashcroft and will hate to see it happen to Palin.

Maybe her little girl will give them that glare and shut them up. :)

    • Moe_Lane

Kind of funny: although I was and am Catholic, I was in their Royal Ranger program as a kid (long story, mostly having to do with my parents getting hooked up with the Catholic charismatic movement, which meant that I went to every summer Vacation Bible School in a thirty mile radius). Good folks.

  • GregInFla

    Just being picky:

gave birth to 5th child knowing that he would have Down’s syndrome

    Fixed that for you.

    • LoneStarSon

I have watched her since January of this year…She will be a great asset to the McCain ticket and a huge asset to conservatives…

I was thrilled to see she had attended an AG church growing up…I used to teach the Royal Ranger program at my old church…

      McCain/Palin ’08

  • stang

Great comparison of real life accomplishments. Obama and Biden have spent their careers holding office and warming chairs with a very meager resume of actual accomplishments to show for their efforts.

Do not be fooled into accepting the expereience meme the DEMedia is attempting to shove down our throats.

    The real issue is ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

?I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people’s accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man’s failures.?

    Earl Warren

  • BigGator5

Awesome side-by-side compression of Palin and Obama. Bookmarked and will be emailing this to my email list.

  • whatifidontwanna

And to think he’s been a United States Senator (but not OF Washington) since she was right around 8 years old.

Then compare what those two have done.

Besides creating the verb “to Bork” someone, (a real lesson of post-partisanship) what Biden also tried to do with Bush’s SCOTUS nominees, what has he done in leadership besides supervising his staff?

I’m quite happy having someone who is relatively young with a reasonable amount of experience that’s good experience versus her opponent for Vice President that has done nothing but collect a salary and vote on bills where his voice has been nothing but Democratic (and mostly wrong) talking points.

The fact that she as a VEEP nominee is better than their Presidential nominee speaks volumes as to why they’ll try and trash her as not ready for prime time.

Just imagine if she was a two year governor of a blue state, they wouldn’t be ripping the actual state and town she’s from.

These guys really do hate large portions of America.

  • jonahmom

I’ve been pro-life my entire life, and am proud she’s taken such a strong stand against abortion. But who will take care of her children, especially her new baby? I suppose she can afford help. But that doesn’t strike me as the kind of family values I can endorse. It seems so selfish.

  • malclave

How dare you shortchange Senator Obama’s accomplishments like this?

First, I’m pretty sure that he has received the endorsement of more than one union.

Second, don’t you pay attention to the news? He does more than let reporters follow him to the gym… he plays basketball, just like Palin did!

Finally, how dare you suggest that the One may not, in fact, be the Messiah? You’re a racist!

Oh, and on the Palin side… maybe add “Miss Congeniality” to the nicknames. :)

    • Mord

I doubt the VP will have trouble finding help. Should she stay bare-foot and pregnant for life? This is the absolute worst argument to use against her, I encourage you to keep it up.

      • streiff

the year is that four digit number in bold type.

Are you seriously contending that it is the woman’s exclusive role to stay home an look after children?

Don’t bother to answer because I ban asshats as a matter of course but do you guys have any idea how freakin stupid you sound when you post stuff like this. If her husband was running for veep would you post the same thing?

  • devCharles

“Smoking hot in a “naughty librarian” sort of way”

Indeed, sir! Indeed. Pull in that nerd vote.

  • janis

And I’m thinking of shrinking it to a smaller size and getting it laminated. That way it makes a perfect pocket reference for those occasions when big mouthed libs decide to crank it up about Palin’s lack of experience.

Oh, the fun we will have…..

    • Rod_Patrick

I want to think that this comment is a parody.

      • RedFox84

They need a father. Seems selfish to me that he would run for President.

Shhh…Don’t tell the Donks, Michael is a working mom, and those lovely children were raised by who, as she climbed the ladder to the big office?

            No double standard here folks.

          • Rod_Patrick

            No offence meant.

          • cordpt

            and dunk on him.

          • QueenOfCups

They only reveal they don’t have a clue as to what conservatives actually believe.

Which is why they are going to lose big.

          • Moe_Lane

By this time next week they’ll have come up with a consensus “pet” name that will properly express their misogyny. Then things can settle down as usual.

          • Raven

It’s called a marriage, you troll.

Ever heard of it? You have 2 people of opposite sex, who have children together and raise them together.

Furthermore, it has been proven time and again that a working mother is perfectly capable of taking care of her children.

As for Governor Palin, do you know of any major problems with her kids? What reason do you have to suspect that as a Governor and previously as a mayor that she has not been raising her kids? How about when she was campaigning for either position?

No? Nothing? Just want to climb about the Democratic Slime-Mobile and trash talk a fine, upstanding woman who has found time for both career and family?
Well, fine. Go ahead and do it…

            …Over at dkos.

  • sdwillson

Is there a chart I can copy that shows the two VP’s in comparison? This one is a bit erroneous (comparing a VP candidate to the Pres candidate).

I’m a bit worried about this too:

“with the JM being the oldest sitting president, someone with 1.5 yrs experience is the best we have?”

This will hurt us in days to come.

I’m also concerned about the VP Debates. Biden has the skills to make her look foolish on nuanced, complex issues.

    • PO

Take a look at heritage.org to see who has a real messiah complex with their leader.

      Bob Barr 2008

      • Martin_A_Knight

… at least take care to pick a signature that is not quite so dumb.

        • mschuyler

Wait! I’m a librarian, too. We’re both naughty. I think we’re the only Republican libarians in the country.

          • David_Hinz

Biden has the skills to make her look foolish on nuanced, complex issues.

This is not some shrinking violet who will wilt before the brilliance of Sen Biden’s intellect.

Biden prides himself on his working class roots — well, Palin is working class too.

She is clean and fresh and articulate… everything that Biden respects in a candidate.

  • mschuyler

they will trot out Jimmy Swaggart, and Jim Bakker you can be sure. They will probably find some snake handlers somewhere who claim to be AG.

Rest assured there will be every nasty attack you can think of.

      • Jeff_Emanuel

        • c17wife

          Palin’s religious affiliation.
That opens the door for us to yet again remind everyone that may have forgtten or missed it this spring about Barack Obama’s butt being parked in a pew in a Black Liberation, Afro-centric, G-D America, hate whitey church for 15+ years.
          Bring it, brother!

  • JoanneGreco

Just wanted you to know I blogged about this and left the link at http://leftandrightpolitics.com/so-you-want-to-compare-palin-to-obama/

    • Jeff_Emanuel

That’s like being attacked for the elementary school you went to — it’s something that’s not exactly under the individual’s control.

      • kyle8

But they won’t be able to help themselves. One thing I know about the left is that they are filled with absolute hate and fear of anyone with a strong faith. (except Muslim extremists, those are just figments of our imagination.)

  • simpson316

I’ve got one. I’m not sure how to get it to you. Any ideas?

    • itrytobenice

      to the dinosaur media.

And besides, if she was raised AG, I’d be surprised if her current church isn’t Pentecostal as well. Not all Pentecostal churches are named Assembly of God.

  • Dienekes

I’m printing this out and will provide it as a public service to any Obamatons I meet.

    • JRandomPoster

With Senator McCain’s age and history of cancer, the question of the VP’s experience is going to come up. Given that Senator McCain’s campaign has been based on his experience, and given that Governor Palin is a first term governor and was mayor of a village of less than 10,000 people prior to that, a lot of folks might come to think that McCain was for experience before he was against it.

  • notropis

Everyone seems to be getting this wrong, everywhere. Sarah Palin was Mayor from 1996 – 2002.

Here’s a link to the current mayor, who has been mayor since 2002:

    http://www.cityofwasilla.com/index.aspx?page=51

  • pilgrim

Obama cancels visit to Landstuhl Military Hospital

The way I see it, the most Senator Obama had to sacrifice in going to Landstuhl was the loss of additional media exposure, while many of the veterans who were waiting for him have sacrificed so much more.

Gov. Palin pays a visit to Landstuhl Military Hospital

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin cared enough about the troops to stop in–even without a press entourage to cover her.
This is the kind of leadership we need in Washington. Not politicians who say “I support the troops” while saying publicly “They can’t win.”

    • kyle8

But it won’t fly. Anyone who thinks she is lacking in experience enough to be unqualified would have to also think the same of Obama unless they are just a lefty troll.

      • David_Hinz

I had not heard that particular talking-point more than 149 times before today, but when YOU say it — it makes perfect sense. Thank you Mr Frum

        • JRandomPoster

The media will have a field day with the fact that she was mayor of a town of less than 10,000 people.

          • David_Hinz

I had not heard that particular talking-point more than 149 times before today, but when YOU say it — it makes perfect sense. Thank you Mr Frum

          • WOSG

As Mark Levin said. Sarah Palin?s political career was launched as mayor of a small town of 9,000 people. Obama?s political career was launched in the house of an unrepentant domestic terrorist.

            Take your pick, America.

          • kyle8

            whatever that is.

Go ahead and make it … here’s a start …

Biden – gasbag, plagiarist, Senatorial clown and multiple failed presidential and VP candidate.
Makes gaffes constantly. Lives beyond his means. Cannot hunt, gut fish or cook moose stew.

Sarah Palin – Governor, hockey Mom, and cosnervative reformer. First woman VP of the United States. Lives an outdoor-lovers life. Can hunt, gut fish and cook moose stew.

          • streiff

you work at MSNBC or someplace, right? Crap, you are like the FIRST person I’ve heard make that point. Wow. I am in awe of you.

          • Jack_Serious

If you think Mrs. Palin isn’t ready to be Pres. but somehow you believe that Mr. Obama is, you must have a double standard. JRP, are you a sexist?

          • olderthangandalf

I dunno. I once knew Jack Ryan, and he was/probably still is a smart, handsome, seemingly conservative guy with a Kennedyesque appeal. All the same, to run as the family values candidate while knowing that sitting in a court docket were papers detailing how he dragged his celebrity wife against her will to a sex club showed rather poor judgment. It was inevitable under the circumstances that all that would come out. As it happened, it was a Republican primary opponent who outed him, and Ryan was gone from the scene before Obama even got started on the general election. All of which has nothing to do with anything, except how lucky Obama has been at certain critical junctures in his life, because a good Republican candidate might have beaten Obama that year if Illinois had had one to put up.

She’s running for the #2 spot — while Obama is running for the #1 spot.

As such, there should be increased scrutiny from the MSM of his rather limited qualifications for the job — unless, of course, the MSM is in the tank for Obama.

  • Kevin1776

Obama->Experienced, Palin->Inexperienced. Maybe in the Democratic Party a woman really does have to be twice as good as a man to get the job…

    • bs

Surely you jest. There’s no “unless” involved here. Your last sentence should read “Unfortunately, there will not be increased scrutiny from the MSM of is entirely nonexistent qualifications for the job – because, of course, the MSM is in the tank for Obama”

Too bad you can’t edit comments, because I’m sure you’d like to go back and correct that sentence per my recommendation.

My wife and I are as excited as can be about McCain/Palin. My wife hardly ever gets involved in politics and she was intently watching the TV yesterday as Palin was announced. We are thinking of actually contributing to the McCain campaign too…we have never done that before! To say we’re jazzed is an understatement and the more people I talk with about this the more I find other people excited. McCain really did himself well with this pick as I was always planning on voting for him but was not real excited. Just awesome and this will energize the base!

  • WOSG

Palin is Quality. Biden is Quantity.

McCain is a Hero. Obama is a ZERO.

    • mrdodgy

I’m really unimpresssed, seems like a cynical play at Hilary voters, which won’t really fly because of her, frankly extreme, social conservative views. I thought her speech in Dayton seemed stilted, badly executed and uninspired, and I find her resume laughable.

Declared left-wing Dem. 2 years, 10 months on RedState. Though planning to stay out of the fray until the election is over.

      • kyle8

I am going to steal it!

        • Vegas_Rick

I hadn’t seen this video. It brought a tear and a lump to this old soldier. :)

          • kyle8

since you are one of our resident lefties.

Nice to drag out the talking points. but This is a pick more to energize voters like me, not Hilary’s left overs.

          • Damon

because she is Pro-life. The Majority of Hillary supporters are Pro-choice and as contentious an issue it is, it is a dealbreaker.

          • Damon

            Double Ridiculous

          • Vegas_Rick

She’s bringing in conservatives The pundits keep saying the same thing about Hillary voters. They’re too stupid to realize John McCain knew it was about the base and unifying the party. Sarah Palin is doing that, to the tune of over $3 million in six hours yesterday!

          • Jack_Savage

…well, do I even need to say it?

          • Damon

Yesterday was John McCain’s 72nd birthday. If elected, he’d be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for “inexperience,” here’s who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency: a right-wing conservative with no foreign policy experience, who until recently was mayor of a town of 9,000 people.

            Huh?

            Who is Sarah Palin?

  • J316

This is an awesome comparison. I am really excited about Palin. I said this on another blog. If they don’t win, I’m moving to Alaska.

    • Jack_Savage

Her executive experience pales to Obama’s. Can you help me out with that a little, though? I mean, surely Obama has actually been in CHARGE of SOMETHING…ANYTHING…? Little help?

And her visits to the troops – I’m sure she ran into Barack over there. Right?

      Appreciate the comments, parrot bonehead.

      • Vegas_Rick

Sarah Palin ran a city government for ten years. The population of the city was about 9,000 people. She currently runs the state government and is the CinC for the Alsak national guard.

What size government has your Messiah EVER run?

What military unit has he EVER commanded?

And what foreign policy experience does he have other than his Senate commitee which he has NEVER convened and his speech to 200,000 krauts?

Will you grace us with a specific answer to just one of the above questions? HMMM

If not, shut up and go home.

        • kyle8

A lefties worst nightmare. A strong woman leader who is not a left wing feminist, A person who as an accomplished reformer represents TRUE hope and change.

A woman who represents progress, real conservation, and energy development to counter the environmental lobby and their sick Malthusianism.

          • streiff

What kind of a totally worthless life do you lead that would inspire you to try to participate in discussions at a site that has told you that your piss-ant sized brain isn’t welcome?

Moe is right, you guys have real problems with sexual inadequacy.

          • janis

Don’t you trolls realize that we’re just pointing and laughing at you all? You wouldn’t be going to this much trouble if you weren’t scared witless about Gov. Palin. McCain’s choice of VP has re-energized the GOP, captured the news cycle that was to be devoted to your candidate’s magnificence, and brought in a lot of bucks in a short amount of time.

And all you guys have got is lamebrained remarks on a conservative website? Impressive.

Where was the ethics investigation with this?? This screams impropriety all over it.

I had posted my own version of this yesterday.

        Sarah as Mayor

        • elected by people who looked her in the eye

        • executive experience equivalent to that of a CEO of a medium size company

        • responsible for day to day operations in a city that was going through astounding growth and that is located in Alaska

        • made budget decisions

        Obama as Community Organizer

        • elected by nobody

        • no executive experience

        • responsible for organizing street marches in a windy city

        • made office supply purchase decisions

  • Darin_H

    (and so is Gov Barracuda!)

      Jeff,

It?s really much more simple, sorry you wasted so much time making up things like ?coolest thing about spouse?.
Your omissions are glaring and your choice facts are less relevant.

2 years governor of Alaska, 3rd least populated state when her challenge was to dispense oil royalties to Alaskans due to price gouging permitted by The Oil President and The Oil Vice President
2 terms on city council of a town of less than 6000
2 terms as mayor of a town 6000 people
BS in journalism from Idaho State
      Beauty queen
      Can?t explain the fossil records

Bottom line is, no federal experience, no foreign experience, no business experience, sub-par education, unique life experience? sure, I?ll give her that

That aside, the real tragedy is that this selection demonstrates the irresponsible decision making of John McCain.

Your chart of alleged comparisons between candidates Palin and Obama is pedestrian, misleading, and sophomoric as political commentary, but the item in it that makes me laugh is “foreign relations experience.”

Without attaching a single smiling or winking face avatar, you report her international credentials as that she is the “Governor of state that borders two foreign countries (Canada and Russia).” One of the space cadets on Fox & Friends the other morning spouted the same silliness, though he wasn’t smart enough to point out Canada.

When I heard the Fox fool say it, I thought it was one of the most stupid political observations I had ever heard. Now that you Red Staters repeat it, some of the sheen has worn off, but it’s still damned funny. Thanks for the laugh.

But you have also ruined my plans. I was all set to send an e-mail to our U.S. senate candidate in Minnesota, Al Franken. “Al, I wanted to write, “don’t let them say you don’t have foreign affairs experience! You live up in Minnesota, and that’s right next to Canada!” But alas, your Governor Palin’s state of residence doubles Franken’s claims. I guess the governor is destined to be our U.N. ambassador, if not our VP…if she ever travels far enough east in the U.S. to get to New York.

    Again, thanks for the laugh.

    • NightTwister

But seriously, being Governor of a State that borders two other countries (one hostile, one friendly) trumps giving a speech to socialists in Germany.

I’ve now posted twice on this forum, prompting a handful of replies. I’m still waiting for someone to respond to the points I raised.

Let’s try one more time on the current thread: German socialists and Holiday Inn Expresses notwithstanding, to suggest that living in a state that borders other countries qualifies as vice-presidential caliber foreign relations experience is just plain stupid.

Don’t tell me about Obama, whose Illinois residence sadly excludes him from this claim too lame. Tell me why living in Alaska qualifies as foreign relations experience.

  • KR_F3504X4

do you people really think that any president can actually change the prices of goods services or other commidities? maybe with a little taxing or intaxing but that is it. so many people are playing bush for high gas prices and for the war and for the attack on us. are you serious? the arabs or muslims extremists have been after us for awhile, they tried in 1993 to blowup the trade center, anybody remember? before that they tried shooting people outside langley. this was not brought on by bush. it was from their own hate and craziness. they are mad because do not do what they want us to do.
and the gas prices are our own fault. for years we have had cheap gas because we bought so much of it and because we had something to offer them back in return. now times are changing and china and india among others are moving up the ladder and they need oil too. wonder why they are moving up the ladder? it is because of this country. how many times have you seen something that says made in china on it? yes our money has built there ecomnomy tot he point they are strong enough to have extras just as we have had for many years now. they have cars, bigger houses, electricity, tv’s etc. we are the biggest consumer in the world today and everyday we get weaker because we continue to buy foreign goods that are not needed. we are one the biggest reasons for japans success in the world today. so any of you out there driving a toyota, nissan, mits, lexus, infiniti, honda or acura. why don’t you think about that instead of blaming the government. our jobs are going over seas, and more importantly our money each time we buy one of these things. now the koreans have the market too, hyundai and kia. and please do not even start about the foreign cars that are built here. that is simply turning us into a nation of labor instead of the nation of creation, ingenuity, invention, etc. you want the economy to change, then you change it. no president from any party is going to fix it. no president is going to make the american workers get back into the factories and drawing boards and work. only a consumer demanding american built, american owned, american engineered products. now think of the beer you drink? is it imported? thats your money putting food on someone else’s table and your neighbors. keep buying mercedes and bmw’s, and lets make a stronger germany, so they can sell technology to our enemies.
voting for obama is the worst move any us could make. he is least desirable, and the least experienced. he will not have influence in the middle east at all, infact he will be “shuned” like a traitor or someone going against allah. mccain is not the saving grace or super candidate in any way, but a far better choice than obama.
and back to the gas thing, we have our own oil, but the green peace tree huggers will not let us even go look for it, muchless actually drill it and get it. the tree huggers have such good intentions in mind but they are the most misinformed bunch of bozos influencing society today. we need to conserve, but also manage our resources. we need to cut and cultivate forests, but also replant. and we should do this before too many trees die, and become fuel for forest fires.
OMG i could go on for hours about how we as a nation are killing ourselves to let the idiots keep up.

          • Carolyne

Well, just being a resident of a state that borders another country wouldn’t necessarily qualify you for much of anything. However…
being the governor of any state would. Most state governors have an office of international trade and Alaska is no exception.

            Governor’s Office of International Trade

            From the site:
“The State of Alaska and the Yukon Government have cooperated on a pre-feasibility study on a proposed Alaska-Canada Rail corridor connection.”

And at the site photo and info of Governor Palin and representatives from China, Taipei, Thailand, and Japan at meetings.

Then there is the gas pipeline through Canada which the governor worked on with various companies and the Canadian government.
            Gas Pipeline

State governments under the office of the governor also interact with foreign consulates.

There is probably more out there but it’s late and I’m tired. But then you probably knew all this about governors already, right?

  • NoCrud

I see people still thinking Obama merely spoke in Berlin and as if my magic there were 200,000 Germans standing all enthralled while the man from Chicago spoke. However, what the media is careful to not mention is that his “speech” was somehow between two concerts scheduled in the park. Also, while Obama wants people to teach their kids Spanish and thinks knowing another language is essential in the world society, he made his little spiel in English. Sure, many Germans speak English but most are not fluent and merely were in awe to see someone suddenly there speaking English. Not even a single sentence in German like ‘Ich bin ein Berliner’ from a man who thinks he’s another JFK.

When will the irony ever end with this charleton?

    • qlangley

On the other hand, Jeff missed out that Obama only became the candidate in the first place because his primary opponent also imploded. Talk about luck: first his primary opponent falls apart, then his GE opponent does the same . . . say, maybe he is the messiah and someone is pulling strings.

  • jamesxyz

    Jeff,

Your comparison matrix also appears at http://www.justsaynodeal.com/ and AmericanThinker links to that version.

    Also, I have three suggestions;

    1) I believe there is a significant error relating to executive experience. To wit:

Your matrix lists Obama as having no executive experience. This is incorrect. His sole claim to executive experience is a 6-year chairmanship of the board overseeing the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC). Under Chairman Obama this board dispensed 100+ million dollars of other people’s money supposedly to improve secondary education in the Chicago area. No improvements in education due to CAC activities have been detected. However, significant racial tensions were successfully raised in connection with CAC activities. In short, Mr. Obama’s sole executive experience was failure. More information is available here, here, and here.

I propose that you update your matrix to break out executive experience into two rows, one for successful executive experience, one for failed executive experience. Palin has no failed executive experience, and Obama does (CAC chairmanship). Palin has successful executive experience (mayor, governor), Obama has none.

    2) May I also suggest that you add under foreign relations experience for Palin negotiations with TransCanada Corp. concerning the gas pipeline planned from Alaska to the lower 48 via Canada. More information is available here.

    3) Your matrix fails to compare education background. This could be listed in such a way as to point out that Palin has outperformed her academic resume (here), but Obama has curiously underperformed his academic resume (Harvard Law degree), which is incomplete since he has not revealed his college grades. Specifically, the 48-year old Obama has never clerked for any federal judge, has never written anything of any legal substance, and has never been trusted with any significant legal position or responsibility, which for a Harvard law student, is unusual, unless he was a lousy law student.

    Regards,
    James

  • JustparaDOX

Here are a few false claims with no supporting evidence to overlook and consider. That wasn’t a unbiased or factual

Where do the get these statemets from, they site no sources, “Barry Obama; ‘The One’” and “May be The Messiah” they site no sources only make false claims. These are untruths. No one in his camp has refered to him as such. Any of those kind of claims need to be back up with evidence. John Mc Cain and the RNC has released ads comparing his popularity to the anti-Christ.

“once gave a speech to 200,000 screaming Germans” I watched the speech they didn’t scream so much. Maybe afterwards when the concert they came to see started. Thats a rather biased and opinionated statement. He did give the speech and there was applause but I don’t recall screaming.

“An enter…wait–did you say without a teleprompter??” What is that supposed to mean? He spoke of the cuff at Bill Hybels Church and spoke on common ground with Evangelicals. He has spoken off the cuff. He’s usually more thoughtful when he doesn.

    On Michelle Obama they claim:

“Promoted and given 160% pay raise by UofC hospitals within months of husband’s election to U.S. Senate”
No proof of illegal tie or transaction. She got a raise and a promotion. People who work hard get those.

“Employer received $1,000,000.00 federal earmark, requested by husband, after her promotion”
There is no evidence that the two were tied together. As federal funding comes through when its passed into law by the senate and congress and then signed by the president, so those things take time. Seem more coincidental.

“Republican opponent, who was leading in the polls, was forced to leave race after unsealing of divorce records exposed a sex scandal” Okay so a crocked republican gets put out the race and then Alan Keys tries to run against him and looses… the point? I don’t see any. Obama didn’t unseal the records. The records are part of the public domain.

“Often says, “I am my brother’s keeper”; Brother lives in a hut in Nairobi on $12 per year” Yes, and his drunk absentee father left him there. Man this guy is heavily biased and opinionated. I would like to see the proof of whether he has a brother in Kenya, he would be a half brother who he’s barely met or hardly knows, his sister he was raised with has talked on the news. I would like to see where they make this claim from. I’m sure his dad who left when he was young and was drunk and had other kids with other women probably has a few half brothers and sisters. And thats the plight of children raised by single parents with loose fathers who go around with anything they can find.

“almost visited wounded troops in Germany, but decided to go shopping in Berlin instead” Um no evidence provided. Wow, its obviously biased opinionated and non factual.

“Talks about bipartisanship” he based a bi-partisan ethics reform bill through congress among a few other bi-partisan reforms.

“Purchased home with help of convicted felon Tony Rezko” no actually his wife bought the lot next to them and no wrong doing has been proven.

“Launched political career in home of unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers (and still refers to him as a part of “mainstream Democratic Chicago”" Um, no he launched in public not a private home. There was a fund raiser at the mans house.

“Worked to pass legislation in Illinois that would prevent all law-abiding citizens from owning firearms” baseless accusation. No evidence or proof. He has tried to pass smart gun laws to protect us from gun violence from people who are mentally ill or have a criminal record.

Unlike his Republican opponents he has a plan to reduce abortion, increase adoptions and make it easier for single parents to keep and raise their kids.

Whoever wrote that doesn’t care about facts and is very oppinionated.

doesn’t quite get is, if he wanted to bring in someone who would appeal to the base, why didn’t he go with Bobby Jindal? He would have excited the base just as much, plus added the academic pedigree, while having at least as much if not more success in reforming a corrupt system in a corrupt state. I realize part of the Palin pick is a hope to get some of the Hillary voters, but I think the ideological gap is too wide for that to work. On my own personal level, even though my ideals are far from a perfect match, the sheer competence of McCain-Jindal would force me to go in that direction. You all have your next Reagan for a younger generation and I mean that in a literal sense, someone who can ..to steal a gross phrase “change the paradigm”, time to put it out there.

Apparently, Dr. Laura is not happy with the Palin pick. She makes it clear on her blog that she believes Mrs. Palin should put her family before the VP slot. I’m an avid listerner of her program and today she did not hold back on her criticism of Mrs. Palin.

This article is backhanded garbage, laced with partisan innuendo, half-truths and a divisive slant designed to draw attention to non-issues like a candidate?s middle name or which sports the candidates engage in. I wonder if republic pundits would make the same point of repeatedly highlighting a republican candidate?s middle name if it was John ?Adolf or Bin Laden? McCain. Before you get upset, ask your self why you might be angered by that comparison and think. This kind of journalism is exactly why the republic party has a problem connecting with moderate voters.
This article can no more be taken seriously than mad magazine.
The author is obviously interested in smearing one side while hiding his intentions with cheeky barbs with little perspective (?once gave a speech to 200,000 screaming Germans?).
This reader wonders why the GOP had to go all the way to Alaska to find a viable vice president candidate. Is Ms. Palin really the best option for the party? Alaska has the 3rd smallest state population and continues to be largely disconnected with the pertinent issues of our time including crime, the housing crisis and the economy. This article shows exactly why the GOP is intent on obscuring reality instead of effectively governing. The great Abraham Lincoln is rolling over in his grave.

          • BrianH

and I defended you as not obviously being a troll. But can you explain what you mean a little bit more?

If you mean the sum total of Obama’s experience is about equal to what Sarah got on the PTA, then I agree. She obviously surpassed him with all her other experience.

If you mean something else, spit it out.

          • FreedomFries246

first of all, it’s pretty convenient how you left out the education of both.

**Obama: B.A. in political science with a specialization in international relations from Columbia University; graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School.

Palin: Bachelor of Science degree in communications-journalism, with a minor in political science from the University of Idaho.**

            No further comment on that.

Also, so many of your “facts” on Obama or either distorted or just wrong that I can’t even see straight. Most of them have been covered elsewhere so I will simply provide the link to the appropriate article, if need be. PLEASE do not try and respond until you’ve actually read the article. I know it’s hard for you folks to accept facts about things you don’t like or understand, but make your best attempt. Thanks.

On “Previous Public Jobs”: you left out how Obama taught constitutional law at Univ. of Chicago Law School for 12 years. Seems more than a little relevant.

On “almost visited wounded troops in Germany, but decided to go shopping in Berlin instead”: that’s a myth. See: Snubbing wounded troops

On his legislative record: he actually sponsored more than 800 bills while in the Illinois Senate.

On “Purchased home with help of convicted felon Tony Rezko”: distortion of truth. See Rezko Reality.

On “only IL state sen. to speak against the Born Alive Infant’s Protection Act, which required medical care to be given to live infants who survived abortions”: see Obama and ‘Infanticide’.

On his environment and energy policies, you obviously didn’t bother to look it up.
There’s plenty more but I feel I’ve made my point there.

Now let’s see some of the things you said about Governor Palin.

“Smoking hot in a “naughty librarian” sort of way”: okay, I’ll give you that.

“Governor of state that borders two foreign countries (Canada and Russia)”: that has nothing to do with foreign relations experience. Please give me an example of something she did related to Russia or Canada. Hell, even the website On The Issues has no record of her (nonexistent) foreign policy.

“Military Affairs Experience”: governors make no decisions regarding deployment of national guardsmen/women abroad. They deploy them within the state in the event of natural disasters, riots, etc. And you can’t say her son’s army enlistment gives her military affairs experience and then turn right around and say Bristol’s pregnancy is nobody’s business. Besides, my father is a retired Air Force Lt. Col., but that by no means gives me military experience (especially not enough to be Commander-In-Chief [if the president is unable]).

You also conveniently left out Todd Palin’s association with the Alaska Independence Party, whose motto is “Alaska First – Alaska Always” and is for Alaskan secession from the USA.

Governor Palin also completely flip-flopped on the Bridge To Nowhere issue.

SO. That should about do it, and just to prove that anybody can spin something to sound fantastic for one side and terrible for the other, here is a comparison of both resumes from a liberal point of view: Year-by-year breakdown of Obama’s and Palin’s resumes.

Also, the only reason this whole thing is even an issue is because of Sen. McCain’s penchant for being…well…really old. Maybe it wouldn’t be as big of an issue if he wasn’t so close to the big house in the sky.

Obama wants to raise taxes and kill babies, while Palin wants to raise babies and kill taxes.

And then talk to me about old. Plus McCain and Biden are same generation.

            Jeez.

I enjoyed this list…it’s informative in comparing all of the professional achievements of Palin, who is only running for VP, as compared to Obama. This is going to be really helpful as a defense against liberals who say Palin is to inexperienced for the VP spot. I’m definitely going to bookmark this for future reference. Thanks!

Sniffage has it wrong. I think he should be whineage. Whenevr you see comments or responses by liberals, there is always a decidedly nasty, acidic response. Why are they always so caustic; it seems to be a party pre-requisite. I saw 3 bumper stickers on one car today; 1 said co-exist, using symbols from diferrent countries to spell the letters, one said Obama08 and the other said “Dick Cheney eats kittens”. Is that part of the whole “co-exist” atmosphere.
Generally, I see the Obama stickers on the Prius’s, Subarus, and other liberal-mobiles and they are the most rude and inconsiderate drivers in town.
Why is it that 99% of Obama’s supporter’s have never signed the FRONT of a paycheck? Anyone who has the huevos to own and operate abusines (such as I have for 29 years) has a different view on taxation, re-distribution of the wealth, and the general sense of how our country needs to be run.
There’s no changing the way liberals think or operate; what a shame they don’t live what they preach.

You’re missing the point. Biden may be old but he’s the backup to Obama. McCain is running for president, and if he gets elected then his VP choice is a huge issue because his age and previous bouts with disease may prevent him from lasting his full term.

One more thing, I wasn’t aware that the Unites States is a business? That’s the only reason I can see “executive” experience being relevant to this race. The title is not CEO of The United States of America, it’s President of The United States of America. As far as I can tell the only reason Palin is being so highly touted for her “executive” experience is because she has no other experience to speak of. Even McCain doesn’t have “executive” experience the way Palin does. I’d much rather have a president who is well-versed in law and the constitution than in running a business any day.

It seem very curious to me that people are praising Palin’s “executive experience” so much and denigrating Obama’s lack thereof when McCain’s suffers from the same lack of “executive experience”. The last time I checked McCain has never been a mayor, governor or any kind of elected official with so called “executive experience”. His highest elected position is exactly the same as Obama’s, U.S. Senator. He just happens to have held this position a lot longer than Obama, but the fact is they have achieved the same level of political success. If we follow the logic being pushed by Republicans then Sarah should be on the top of the ticket, not VP since she has his valuable experience. Let’s hold McCain to the same standard he is holding Obama to. He doesn’t deserve a pass simply because he has been at the same level as Obama a lot longer. A senator is a senator, nothing more.

We’ve forwarded it to many friends, who have in turn sent it on to others.

The Dimmies are going nuts, with good reason. She’s their worst nightmare, and some of them are smart enough to know it.

The first two people we talked to after she was announced as the VP pick both used the word “exciting” to describe it, or “excited” to describe themselves.

And these were people who we’ve never talked to about politics–that is, not political junkies.

and, dare I say, outright baldfaced lies here beggar the imagination.

First, we do like it that you guys are comparing your #1 to our #2. There hasn’t been a candidate as devoid of qualifications for the presidency since Wendell Wilkie as is Obama.

What standing if front of a bunch of law students a few times a month has to do with anything is anyone’s guess, but is certainly doesn’t equate to anymore experience, and certainly a lot lower on the scale of difficulty, than a high school teacher.

Obama’s foreign policy experience? Granted he attended an Indonesian madrassa where the student records show him as a moslem. I suppose that counts for something. And he did preside over the largest political rally in Berlin since 1938.

If you even bothered reading your own Factcheck citation you’d find it doesn’t say what you say it does.

Go away. We’re not interested in this low level dross.

to take up the slack at home, according to the sexist Dems.

Note to stay-at-home dads: If you’re voting for Obama, the joke is on you. If your working wife is voting for Obama, you might want to check with your wife to see if she thinks Sarah Palin is shortchanging her kids by leaving them home with dad.
