Obama’s policy on terrorism will be “to uphold high ideals”

How\'s *that* for a sound defense policy?

That’s the entire AP story: “President-elect Obama says his policy on terrorism strategy will be to uphold high ideals.”

I guess that’s all we need to know in this new hopey-changey world where nothing concrete is said or done, and ideas with less form than a morning fog are given the weight of actions themselves.

I’m sure al Qaeda, Jaish al Islam, Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, the Taliban, and the rest of the lengthy laundry list of international terror organizations will be forced to rethink their entire collective raison d’être in light of this pronouncement.

Do bear in mind, though, that if America is attacked during an Obama presidency, allowing any blame to be placed on him or his policies is strictly off-limits (this happens when a Democrat becomes president, you see).

    Wow… That’s some hope and change, eh ? How about this Mr. Obama: “Our policy on terrorism will be to crush it with all the might and resolve of The United States, her armed forces and her free people.”

    Either that AP story wasn’t complete and their upload went all scwewwy wike a wabbit, or that was the entire thing and we’re in much deeper trouble than any of us previously thought.

      “Uphold High Ideals”?? Is an Ideal a new type of firearm, or surviellance technique? Or is this lofty refrain akin to “we’re gunna speechify ‘em”? Neville Chamberlain and Peace in Our Time?
      Sure wish Mr. Obama would get specific, I’m starting to have my worst fears realized.

      Probably be removed as your will. How DARE you question the Most High?

    figure out that lofty rhetoric is worthless now that he’s about to actually be responsible and accountable for what happens?
    Or, as I suspect, are we going to find that his “higher ideals” include the fact that no matter what, he’ll remain above reproach and blame?

    Everyone involved with his foreign policy and defense matters are loyal to either Bill Clinton or George Bush. They will turn on him in a heart beat when something goes wrong.

    Plus they will leak everything that they do not agree with because they know he has no balls and will back off anything that might get bad press.

      Bush will be blamed for everything negative that happens unto the 7th generation, so chill. Nothing will ever be Obama’s fault — now or in the future.

      The Obamabus still has plenty of room underneath, and the media will continue to be his greatest ally.

      For example, I can guarantee you there won’t be any articles from the NYT releasing classified information about anything that happens while Obama is on the clock.
