Obama’s nominee for CIA chief has a daughter who just loves anti-American dictators

Seriously — if you’re surprised, raise your hand. Didn’t think so.

The fact that a far-left activist would be palling around with diehard enemies of freedom in their own countries and abroad isn’t the least bit surprising; it’s what makes the “liberal” moniker the utter oxymoron we all know and love.

Leon Panetta’s daughter is a perfect example. From Mike Waller’s blog:

If the adult daughter of a CIA Director-designate hangs out with sworn enemies of the United States, it’s a matter for the United States Senate to probe aggressively. And so the Senate really has to ask some very pointed questions about Linda Panetta, daughter of President-Elect Obama’s pick to lead the CIA, and her ties to Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega and Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

Linda Panetta is a noted anti-military activist who has accused the US military of teaching Latin American officers how to torture. She has also been close to causes hostile toward the United States and friendly to the old Soviet Union, and the regimes in Cuba, Venezuela and Iran. …

This photo shows Chavez with his arm around Linda Panetta, while former Sandinista junta leader Daniel Ortega smiles on, at left. You saw it here first.

This says a few things about CIA Director-designate Leon Panetta. While a parent can’t necessarily be blamed for his wayward children, we think senators should ask the nominee to be the next CIA chief about his daughter’s support for sworn enemies of the United States. As a congressman, Panetta was pretty soft on the communist FMLN guerrillas in El Salvador, and Daniel Ortega’s Marxist Sandinista regime in Nicaragua. So father and daughter’s views do coincide somewhat.

Certainly any prospective CIA intelligence analyst would be grilled pretty hard before getting a security clearance if it was known that his or her sister or daughter was an anti-US militant who aided and abetted Chavez and the Sandinistas. And even then he might not get a very high clearance. It’s only fair to hold Leon Panetta to at least the same standards that apply to ordinary CIA analysts and operators.

The Senate has an obligation to nail down this problem when it considers confirming Leon Panetta to lead the CIA.

Considering the fact Panetta has no relevant experience in intelligence community, and unfortunately for us, Obama considers all of this…irrelevant as long Panetta has no ties to Bush administration.

And by the way, no, I’m not terribly surprised, but you know, Cheney has a lesbian daughter!

Even so, I do agree with you….

Somehow, I doubt that the new Director will be subjected to a lie detector. Anyhow, the sins of the daughter are more likely to reflect either: a) what she learned at home and school; or, b) her open rebellion against parents. Either way, not particularly good for Panetta.

      but you can’t pick your family… Alas…

Imagine the conflict here: Linda Panetta is in Venezuela with Chavez. CIA is actively pursuing binLaden. CIA finds Chavez with binLaden and Panetta. Is the bomb dropped on the villa?

And I want to know why these top guys don’t get lie polygraphs, if they don’t. The top guys need to be so above board that they are fully trusted. Let’s start with Obama and Biden.

This SHOULD be a huge issue….just like it SHOULD have been a huge issue during the 2004 campaign that JF Kerry had sucked up to him in the eighties….and the Republicrats in the Senate SHOULD be front and center in committee asking all the relevant questions…

    But will they?

I don’t know what’s worse…the appeasers in the Democrat Party that sucks up to these dictators or the gutless PRIXXs in the Republicrat Party that refuse do confront them on it…I do know who is the more contemptible of the two!

    • mbecker908

Will they? Hell no. The Senator from Utah is already on board. McCain and Graham are right there too.

…the more contemptible… The Republicans. You can’t blame a scorpion for stinging you, he’s just doing what comes naturally.

And a secretary of state about to be confirmed who’s spouse has pulled in multi millions of dollars from foreign governments and I guarantee we’ll hear nary a peep from our “Conservative” leaders in the Senate!

        • mbecker908

But since there are at most three, it won’t do much good.

          • AceInTX

            for treasury and state?

There is no Senate committee for “treasury” per-se

          • AceInTX

As for treasury…I’m embarassed to admit I don’t know this but doesn’t the Sec Treas. need confirmation and is there no committee that vets before it goes to the floor to be voted on?

        • izoneguy

the Republicans want these wankers confirmed. Give the democrats just enough rope to hang themselves? Why would we want competent people in place to help an in-competent president?

          • AceInTX

because I thought there had to be a reason for the stupid moves these guys make…but I’ve given up on it…they really are that stupid!

Principle doesn’t matter as long as they’re liked by the tea and crumpet crowd and the liberal media circuit!

  • jen2001

They are running out of leftist/socialist/marxist/corrupt and dirty democrats to nominate. They are going to need the second stringers soon….

What if Chavez or Ortega decide that lovely Linda is going to become a ward of their state, until such a time that daddy performs some favor?

I mean, she goes marching into these countries, hobnobbing with these officials who are sworn enemies of the US.

“How nice of you to join us, Linda… we have a cozy 10×10 room made up especially for you for an indefinite stay…”

  • reaganwarrior

Linda isn’t Mr. Panetta’s daughter, at least according to Wikipedia. In fact, he doesn’t seem to have any daughters at all.
