FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

John Boehner is Righteously Angry

Watch him on the House floor early this afternoon stating the obvious: that not one single member of the House of Representatives had read the 1,000-page, $800,000,000,000.00 borrow-and-spend bill they were about to vote on, and that the unanimously-passed instruction that Americans receive 48 hours to read the bill before its passage had been knowingly — and dishonestly — scrapped.

Throwing the bill onto the ground was a nice touch. It’s just too bad Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was likely on a plane to Rome at the time, and didn’t get a chance to see it.

Everyone with an ‘R’ after their name should behave in just this manner toward liberal ideas until they’re no longer serving in Congress.

    • mom2oneson

We wouldn’t even be in this situation now if they stood up to this stuff a long time ago. I always wonder that like where are all the men? It’s like they are just helpless or something.

      • papalee

But they couldn’t bring themselves to treat the folks who had elected them in the same way. The Democrats play hardball because they know it counts but we have had too many sissy gentlemen only too ready to sell the rest of us into slavery.

That and creating a medical system which will ration health care and kill old people.

  • E Pluribus Unum

That was well said by Boehner. Calls the Dems for being a bunch of followers and moral cowards.

        Collins is too stupid.
Snowe is too far gone leftist
Specter is too stubborn to change his mind.

All we can hope for is that the lefties have really pissed of Specter. And on that level, we got a shot.

        • $peciallist

“Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), an Orthodox Jew, plans to walk to his home in Georgetown after the vote if it comes late because sundown marks the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath.”

          WTF….this is bizarro world….

          • $peciallist

            back flips….uggg

        • SoFiMil

Senators Collins, Snowe, and Specter should demand that in exchange for cloture, the final bill be read for the record. I’ve reached Senator Collins office to tell her this. Still trying to reach Snowe and Specter.

          • E Pluribus Unum

that’s about 15 hours of steady reading, I’d guess.

          • givemeliberty

At the pace of 1 page per minute it would take 18 hours non-stop to just read the bill much less digest what was read.

Doubt Cruella Pelosi would care. Her botoxed lips are probably still stuck on smiling as she rushes to her taxpayer paid trip to see the Pope. Also doubt that the Pope will be forgiving of her support for abortion even if she personally would’t have one. She is supporting it and an administration which will now be paying for abortions all over the world.

    • streetwise

      Alternative botox, you know.

And when she comes back, another earmark!

      • izoneguy

for her support of abortion. And just because she is from Kalifornia.

      • 6eorge Jetson

If you or I commit a sin, it’s the local priest for us.

When Nancy commits her whoppers, it’s off to the Pope courtesy of the US taxpayer.

        • streetwise

          :>)

        • itrytobenice

who is high enough in the Catholic hierarchy able to cover the quantity and quality of Queen Nancy’ sins. Exactly how many Hail Mary’s would you have to say if you have enabled the murder of tens of millions of babies?

fighting for what’s right for this country.

Fight On! Fight On! Now slay the liberal dragons!

  • jimmuy8

If there was ever a time to riot in the House, it is now. Someone needs a good beating with cane; just like the old days.

Can’t the R Senators just leave, deny the Senate quorum? Can that be done here–if they are going to vote against it in futility, leave and prevent a vote from taking place at all!

Here in Texas, the lib newies were falling all over themselves, peeing their pants at the “bravery” of the Ds when they pulled that trick, will they be so lovey-dovey now?

  • Kyle-MI

Voting for a bill when you don’t even know what is in there is the ultimate act of blind following. Even time a Republican is asked why he doesn’t support this bill the reply should be “Do you know what is in there?”

  • tempest

This kind of BS legislation is why we have to Second Amendment!

    • Taniwha

My thoughts exactly. I have been seriously thinking about what it would take for there to be an actual tax revolt, a modern day Boston Tea Party.

This is why we left England in the first place.

  • smagar

If the Dems are going to be jerks about it, we should get in our licks as well.

    • Mike gamecock DeVine
    • izoneguy

so it is on the record.
And when they come to those “Prorky admendments” they should be read very slowly. I heard the bill is like 1100 pages. Have our 38-39 Senators read about 28-30 pages each. I don’t know the Senate rules but we need to stretch this out and make it very painful. This bill will be nothing less than torturing the AMerican people.

    • Common_Cents

Reading aloud should be mandatory. It helps with transparency, accountability and it SLOWS down congress so they do less damage. They would have to priortize agendas. Or they’d probably all take Evelyn Wood speadreading classes or go to auctioneer school.

Let’s not even argue whether we needed a big stimulus or not. Many Americans apparently think we do, and the Dems will prefer to argue that point all day long.

What they WON’T want to talk about is all the garbage they put in the bill. Fine; let’s talk about that.

Let’s ask why the Dems rushed this bill through the way they did. Let’s point out all the stuff buried in the bill.

Because they rushed it through the way they did, we are now free to posit that they knew they had stuff to hide. As far as we’re concerned, that’s the way it is. Let the Dems try to convince everyone else otherwise.

And, as for the MSM, let’s ask why they seem so unconcerned about how this bill came to law the way it did. Why isn’t the MSM outraged over the contents of this bill?

As far as I’m concerned, it’s because the MSM wants to see the Democratic Party succeed. So, it’s not going to ask the Dems questions, if those answers would embarass the Dems.

I can’t wait for the media aftermath of this bill. They’ll be some criticisms of the Dems for the way they handled the bill—and then the MSM will move on. They’ll call it old news.

OK, then. As far as I’m concerned, they own this bill, too.

    • smagar

      1) We should be nice to Snowe, Specter and Collins, but that’s it. We should do nothing to earn their votes on anything, at the very least for this Congress. IMO they’ve used up their aces. And, if they threaten to go vote with the Dems if they don’t get their way, fine. I’d rather spend more time in the wilderness and come out with a fiscally conservative party, than kowtow to these three.

      2) Primary Specter. If the choice in 2010 is between Specter and a Dem, I pick the Dem. He just cost my son’s generation hundreds of millions of dollars, at the very least. I’d like to see a R Senator in 2010, but I really want to see Specter go down.

      3) The MSM is on the clock. Are they outraged by the way the Democrats conducted themselves during this bill? Are they outraged by the colossal waste in this bill? Or, will they ignore it—the way they ignored the Obama campaign’s credit card fraud, his promise to “bankrupt” new coal plans, etc… If the MSM quickly moves on to other subjects, I submit that we should take that as tacit MSM approval of Porkulus. In which case they own it, just as much as the Dems do.

Are they journalists firsts, or Democrats? We’ll soon find out.

      4) We need to talk, repeatedly, month in and month out over the next two years about all the garbage in the bill. We need to ignore the Dems and their MSM allies, as they tell us to “just get over it already.”

No, I submit instead that we have not yet begun to fight.

What’s say our 2010 candidates campaign on fixing the fixable parts of Porkulus? Surely they can’t have spent it all by January 2011. Let’s offer the voters a chance to get some of their kids’ money back.

We can also campaign as a party who will:
      - follow the rules of the Congress. We will return to regular order
      - not pork up bills.

Pearl Harbor beat up our Navy pretty bad, but it didn’t kill it. In fact, it woke it up. Less than a year later, the tide turned at Midway.

It is possible that the Dems (and their MSM allies) have awakened a sleeping giant, and filled it with a terrible resolve.

      • Mike gamecock DeVine
      • smagar

I recall no major newspaper editorializing against Porkulus.

Editorials are the authoritative voice of a newspaper.

The time for a newspaper to raise concerns over Porkulus, and still have it mean something, was this week.

Don’t be surprised if the major newspapers unload on the Obama White House now. It’s safe to do so now. Obama knows it. The MSM knows it.

I hereby assert that, in accordance with the principle of “silence equals consent,” the MSM’s silence on Porkulus justifies our assuming that the MSM supported Porkulus.

By remaining silence, the MSM facilitated the success of Porkulus. So, they own it.

        • Mike gamecock DeVine

          great idea

the rush to vote provides a great fairness opening to open eyes to the substance

and I mean, esp the major permanent govt expansion provisions

committee assignments and if so lets work to get that accomplished!

  • mom2oneson

I was in the car and heard a speech on the radio how they needed it to pass so people on unemployment can put “food on the table.” I felt *so* nauseous, is this how they “argue” to get votes with these broad statements creating a fake victim? I wanted to tell him back what about food stamps? We already give out a ton of money in food stamps and it just drives up food prices for everyone. Aren’t these people even familiar with public assistance? Also even without food stamps if they were recently layed off they are obviously able to work they can find some way to generate income to buy food. It’s so weird the way he created a victim that doesn’t exist.

    • Finrod

Well if by food they mean pork, and by table they mean liberal groups’ checking accounts, then sure they’re putting money in their pockets, er food on the table.

    • gekster

      nt

  • izoneguy

When they say ?food on the table.? they really mean getting those porky admendments passed.
