FRONT PAGE CONTRIBUTOR

I don’t know how much overlap there is in a Venn Diagram of Florida grads and Corrine Brown (D-FL) voters, but….

Open Thread

….based on this, I’m not so sure both sets, overlapping or not, shouldn’t be jailed or exiled to a small Pacific atoll for their own safety and for that of the rest of us.

Bear in mind, that’s a U.S. Congresswoman who holds a Masters in Public Speaking from the University of Florida.

Now, I’ll stipulate that my opinion of such things is coloredinfluenced by the fact that I’m (a) a conservative, and therefore likely predisposed to find anything Corrine Brown says objectionable in some way or another; (b) a graduate of the University of Georgia, and therefore definitely predisposed to find anything relating to the jean shorts-sporting “Gators” objectionable in pretty much every way possible; and (c) a speaker of the English language, and therefore predisposed to find this gibberish being spewed by a Member of Congress both embarrassing and worthy of the highest ridicule (Wow, you just got more honesty right there than you’ll get in a year from “objective,” “unbiased” MSM “reporters”!).

However, this has got to be embarrassing even for those of you who don’t fit into any of the above categories. I mean, come on, Congresswoman Brown! Have you no pride (nor shame)?

This brings up an interesting idea. Along with the printed Congressional Record, we really need to start stockpiling video of everything these Critters say. Sometimes transcripts (especially those that can be “revised and extended” after the fact) just don’t convey the entire message an elected representative is sending in remarks made on the floor.

I’m sure the transcript of this embarrassment won’t.

Let’s make this today’s Open Thread.

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Perhaps she should call her good friend President Teleprompter and ask for some tips.

  • IJB

I’ve known about her since the early 90s at least.

She’s still the same – an empty body taking up space in Congress.

    • Blue_Collar_Muse

voters have been sending her back for almost 20 years. Is there literally NO way to compete in her district?

  • Vladimir

Makes me even more proud to be a Sooner.

    • http://jeffemanuel.net Jeff Emanuel

      Lifelong Sooner here, too.

    • Tbone

Should show this to Tebow. He would turn pro or transfer to a real university.

    What else can I say?

    • cube

I was hoping UF’s band could have marched in and she’d sing the whole “Go Gators” song. And then, her analysis of Palsgraff with Tim Tebow praying beside her.

      LETS GO CANES

but of currently serving reps Gus Bilirakis, Andrew Crenshaw, Connie Mack, John Mica, Jeff Miller, Adam Putnam, and Tom Rooney are all Republican reps that are UF grads, while Corinne Brown is only one of four dem reps that are UF grads.

Does this sort of statement really merit time on the Congress floor, however? Does it not devalue the institution responsible for significant debates on the country’s future if it also exists as a platform for ‘look at how wonderful my local football team is’? The British parliamentary system has many flaws, but restricting this kind of politicking to written Early Day Motions is a good thing.

Incidentally, if you wish to see the opposite of Corinne Brown, check out some of Dan Hannan’s speeches to the European Parliament:

No. Can you point to anything a Democrat has said that makes anymore sense?

See, her speech is actually an upgrade to what they say about serious stuff.

please secure the lid tightly when your done, Mrs brown…

After seeing the spectacle that is Congresswoman Brown, any apprehensions I had about running for Congress have all but been discarded. How that moonbat became an elected official (for 20 years no less) shall no longer be a source of befuddlement, but rather a source of inspiration. For Christ’s sake, she looks like the archetypal nutjob spinster who lives alone in a cat-infested, rent-stabilized apartment in Manhattan.

One thing is for sure: Donning that robe, Ms. Brown will never ever be accidentally shot while strolling through the woods during deer hunting season.

Not give us her 64 team bracket.

This gentle lady from Florida did not go far enough! How does she not delve into the mystic RPI rankings and debate the merits of President Obama’s picks. Why? She’s totally in the tank for Obama
and covertly manipulating the lines in Vegas..

Obama is engaged in the unlawful trafficking of college brackets. By announcing to the world his picks, the lines in Vegas are going haywire. At a time like this, he really should have waited to announce his picks until after March Madness ends. Obama’s quick picking the NCAA tournament flies in the face of practiced gaming theory. The overs are under. The unders are over. Bookies are destroying the few remaining pay phones in cities across the nation.

In the Heavens above, “The Greek” is still really apologizing. .

  • GCBWI

You couldn’t tell by her delivery…

In an era where one can get college credit for studying Klingon and an advanced degree in Circque du Soleil studies and Paranormal Psychology, nothing surprises me anymore.

  • jarrod21

This is the lead up to her proposal to bail out the BCS with billions of newly-printed dollars.

We’ll solve that pesky football problem, I tell ya what.

  • drjecdo

Ah, more of the Democratic Party’s best and brightest. Gives me confidence that the country is in good hands.

I don’t blame her, though; if she weren’t in Congress, she’d be homeless living under a bridge. I blame the morons that keep voting for her.

{{drum roll}} – Government! yipee! hey wait a second, if the best job growth is in government how are we not becoming a socialist state?

  • devCharles

and I really don’t think Corrine Brown is representative of the current university. University of Florida is currently in the Top 50 best schools in the country according to US News and World Report. She is right about some things though. We just won our 2nd BCS championship in the last 3 years. Not to mention the back to back NCAA championships two years ago. Go Gators.

By the way Jeff, how’s Georgia gonna do this year without Stafford and Moreno. They’ll be going against a fully returned two deep defense that held the highest scoring football team of all time to 14 points.

    Should be fun.

  • itrytobenice

And did you notice the chair corrected himself? He started out calling her the Gentlelady and then changed it to Gentlewoman. I guess he knows her.
