Note to Jim Moran (D-VA): People who want to kill themselves to kill you don’t care about your ‘reputation’
Politico has a report today on Democrats’ effort to transfer the violent terrorists currently imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay to facilities within the U.S.
“It sets us back in the war on terrorism to be maintaining Guantanamo,” said Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), who’s heading an investigation of the facility for the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
“It will enhance our reputation to close it down and to apply our system of justice to all of these detainees,” he added. …
Moran told The Politico that he’s recommending Congress cut funding to the detention center at the end of summer 2008. The men held there should then be released, tried or moved to the United States, he said.
First of all, Rep. Moran needs to take a look at the track record of those folks who have already been released from GITMO, many of whom took advantage of their second lease on free life to rejoin the jihad and do their utmost to take more innocent American, Iraqi, Afghan, Pakistani, etc. lives.
Second, Moran desperately needs a reality check when it comes to the murderous pieces of human excrement that populate GITMO and other terrorist prisons around the world. This obsession with “our reputation” the Democrats have developed since President Bush’s decision to go to war with the alliance he had — 38 countries, including our closest real allies — is a delusional farce that substitutes a weak-minded alternate reality for the one we are actually living in.
The fact is, Congressman, these killers don’t care one whit about “our reputation.” You can play as nice as you want with them; they’d still put a knife between your shoulder blades or a bullet between your eyes if given the slightest hint of a chance.
