Obama’s Latest Theory on The Gulf Oil Spill: Blame Congress, or the Tea Parties or the Press

After blaming the policies of the previous administration and BP for the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the President has found a new “A** to Kick” Congress.

In an interview with Roger Simon of Politico,The-Finger-Pointer-in-Chief has decided to point his blame digit toward congress, telling the congress that some members of Congress should share the blame for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

“I think it’s fair to say, if six months ago, before this spill had happened, I had gone up to Congress and I had said we need to crack down a lot harder on oil companies and we need to spend more money on technology to respond in case of a catastrophic spill, there are folks up there, who will not be named, who would have said this is classic, big-government overregulation and wasteful spending.”

But if it happened six months ago, the president would still have looked for someone else to blame. Besides that, six months ago, the president had the government paralyzed, doing nothing but the healthcare debate.  With his next thought he went after the Tea Party.

“Some of the same folks who have been hollering and saying ‘do something’ are the same folks who, just two or three months ago, were suggesting that government needs to stop doing so much,” Obama said. “Some of the same people who are saying the president needs to show leadership and solve this problem are some of the same folks who, just a few months ago, were saying this guy is trying to engineer a takeover of our society through the federal government that is going to restrict our freedoms.”

Actually Mr. President we are still saying that your are trying to engineer a takeover of our society.

“You know, what I think I get frustrated with sometimes, as do, I suspect, other members of my team, is that the media specifically is demanding things that the public aren’t demanding,” the president said. “What the public wants to see is us solving this problem. And that may not make for good TV.”

Ah so now its all the fault of the Media. So which one is it Mr. President, Congress, the Tea Party or the Press? Or is it just anybody except you.

The Gulf oil spill also had its roots in misguided policies begun by the Clinton Administration

Blame Bill Clinton…..

CLINTON CATALYZED GULF OIL DRILLING BOOM

http://www.dickmorris.com/blog/2010/06/10/clinton-catalyzed-gulf-oil-drilling-boom/

Just as the subprime mortgage crisis had its roots in the Clinton Administration decision to require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to find enough low income borrowers so that half their loans were subprime, the Gulf oil spill also had its roots in misguided policies begun by the Clinton Administration.

In 1995, President Clinton signed the Outer Continental Shelf Deepwater Royalty Relief Act which exempted oil wells drilled deep in the Gulf from the normal royalty payments they would normally have owed the government for their oil. Usually, these payments amount to between 12% and 16% of their revenues, so exemption from this requirement did a great deal to catalyze drilling in deep waters in the Gulf of Mexico. As a result of the Administration action, deepwater oil production in the Gulf increased rapidly, growing from 42 million barrels annually in 1996 to 348 million in 2004. The latter figure represents about 6% of total United States oil consumption and about 15% of domestic production. Natural gas production from deepwater Gulf drilling increased tenfold during the same period.

The Deepwater Horizon well was one of those catalyzed by the Clinton legislation and began drilling in 2001.

But, as with the subprime crisis, policy initiatives taken during the Clinton years – with the best of motives – were implemented without adequate regulation and without due consideration of the dangers involved. We are now suffering mightily for this failure of foresight and planning.

Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged

Royalty relief was a successful program...

Buck stops here?

lukematthews (Diary) Saturday, June 12th at 1:55PM EDT (link)

Obama seems to have trouble understanding even the most fundamental of American ideals. For example, he seems perplexed by the above phrase. When Harry Truman said it, he said all blame, and credit, must start and stop at this desk. No one else was held out as a scapegoat or causal factor. However, Obama says the same phrase and then proceeds to complain he needs a culprit and a whipping boy. He points his finger at everyone else, while saying the ‘buck stops here’, which is not what the phrase means at all.
It’s nonsensical and absurd. I understand they cannot operate with language meaning, well, what it means, but isn’t anyone interested in actual reality in the lame-brained media?
Strike that.
What a ridiculous assertion on my part.
