Yawn. Artist Protests Trump By Painting Badly With Human Blood

Artists who are desperate for attention do weird things they think will shock people. Artist Illma Gore has found a way to get free publicity created a rather uninspiring painting to protest Donald Trump’s inauguration. She has attempted to make it edgy by painting it all in human blood. The whole thing ends up being less shocking than her creepy face and neck tattoos, but you have to give some points to an artist named “Gore” painting with human blood.

The image is nothing but a copy of a painting of Betsy Ross sewing the first flag. Gore has replaced the the women in the painting with representatives of various aggrieved groups like Black Lives Matter, Muslims, millennials, etc. As a painting, it might deserve praise for creativity if it was entered in a high school art show. The blood gimmick doesn’t do anything for it but make it sort of gross. Gore claims to have used blood from 55 donors. The only feeling the piece evokes is the hope that she tested all of them for hepatitis-C before she started painting.

Gore is the same artist who subjected the world to that nude painting of Trump with tiny manhood a while back. Judging from the portfolio on her website, she is not so much an artist as she is a left wing cliché. One painting is a ripoff of the famous photo of Muhammad Ali standing over a defeated Sonny Liston but Gore has replaced Sonny Liston with Donald Trump and Muhammad Ali with a giant anthropomorphic vagina. How thought provoking. What could she be trying to say?

There’s nothing creative about this sort of on-the-nose hackery. The political agenda behind it is the only reason anyone knows it exists.

This isn’t bad art because of the political motivation though. It’s bad art because it’s just bad art.
