Yesterday, just outside of Dallas, Texas, two shooters attacked an art exhibit that was displaying parody images of Muhammad. Normal people were appalled at the atrocity, and several more knew that the phrase “Don’t Mess With Texas” was more than just words. The response to this shooting in Texas by the Left, however, is truly weird to watch. Many have said, essentially, that the art exhibit was asking for it, and others have decried the bigotry in mocking the central figure in a religious text.

Surely, in the midst of all this, we can find one person – just one person or group who is capable of seeing this through a different lens? Let’s ask The Boston Globe:

“It’s understandable, but too bad, that Islamists took the bait; without a public backlash, such a deliberate effort to stir up rancour would have passed with minimal attention,” they write. “In the future, Texas should feel no need to indulge such affairs with a promise of public space.”

…Okay, so yeah. I fudged that quote a little. Remember that time a Satanic group got permission to hold a black mass on Harvard’s campus, and Catholic groups were outraged?

Yeah, apparently when it’s Christians getting offended, we should just calm down and not let ourselves get trolled. When it’s Islamists that are getting offended, then the groups doing the trolling deserve what they get. The only difference here is that Catholics are not death-worshiping cultists bent on remaking the world into an incredibly strict religious society where rules are dictated by by militant zealots.

That’s not the only time Christians have been told to not get their knickers in a twist, either. When Christians were outraged that a crucifix – a cross with the depiction of Jesus Christ – was submerged in a jar of urine, was called art, and won awards, they were told “It’s just art. Lighten up.” As Erick pointed out, these same people praise The Book of Mormon as one of Broadway’s greatest productions, and these same people also thought that the religious irreverancy in the movie Hamlet 2 was inspired.

But, mock Islam? Mock Muhammad by depicting him in ridiculous caricatures? If they retaliate, then you deserved it. Just ask the people who accused Charlie Hebdo of “punching down” when depicting Islam, but ignoring the numerous offensive parodies of Christianity. Islam is off limits. Christians, however, have been around long enough and have screwed up enough stuff that they deserve what they get.
