I just thought I’d take a moment and remind you guys how 2016 is shaping up. Right now, it’s 15-4.

On the Republican side, we have Jeb Bush, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, and Scott Walker, all of whom are current or former governors. We also have [mc_name name=’Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’C001098′ ], [mc_name name=’Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’P000603′ ], [mc_name name=’Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’R000595′ ], and (regretably) [mc_name name=’Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)’ chamber=’senate’ mcid=’G000359′ ], all current senators. We also have Ben Carson, and accomplished doctor, Carly Fiorina, a former high-level businesswoman, and Rick Santorum, a former politician who has done this before. Not all have declared, but all are expected to be in the race. Of those 14, five are what we consider minority candidates – one woman, one black, two Hispanic, and one Indian-American. All of them have pretty accomplished resumes.

The Democrats, meanwhile, have Hillary Clinton, an untrustworthy former First Lady, senator, and Secretary of State; Martin O’Malley, whose only notable accomplishes led to the chaos that Baltimore finds itself in; Bernie* Sanders, an avowed socialist; and now Lincoln Chafee, who… um… used to be Republican or something?

15-4 is pretty notable alone, but when you take the whole diversity and records of success into account, it’s quite possible the Democrats might just start packing their stuff and heading home for a couple of years. Best case scenario? You put Clinton and O’Malley on the same ticket, which would be a ticket so white when you pull the lever, a ginger baby pops out. And who doesn’t love babies (except maybe the Democrats???)?

On a more serious level, I will offer the Democrats some advice: Go for Martin O’Malley. He has the youngest face of your candidates, and he isn’t totally insane.

*I have no idea why at first I said “Barry Sanders,” other than a subconscious hatred of the Detroit Lions for reasons that shall not be explained.
