There’s a big update to the whirlwind drama that is the Robert Bentley sex scandal down in Alabama.

After a weekend of him denying anything illegal, his party demanding his resignation, the state Supreme Court green-lighting his impeachment proceedings, and the first day of those proceedings, he has been arrested and booked on campaign finance violations.

Bentley is in trouble for having an affair, which in and of itself is not impeachable. What is, however, is using his political power to try to intimidate others into silence, and apparently some of the things he did while trying to cover up the affair have landed him in prison.
