The Dukes of DC

Let me start out by saying I am all for us going over the fiscal cliff, but only if we do so like Wile E. Coyote. Just keep walking until we realize the ground is gone, then fall in time with a slowly fading whistle until we hit the ground and leave a USA-shaped hole in the ground. Maybe there will be a trampoline at | Read More »
Testify!

In my high school years, I attended a Catholic school and, as such, was subject to classes purely on the Catholic faith. Four of them, one for each year. I was not a fan of these classes, and not because of the content. My senior year, I was definitely not a fan. The teacher, I was certain, was insane. I don’t doubt that people do, | Read More »
LA-3: Third place cadidate, Ron Richard (D), endorses Boustany
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | November 9th at 05:18 PM |
On this site, I’ve seen opinions divided on whether on not Conservatives should go for Jeff Landry, the representative from the current 3rd District or the representative from the soon-to-be defunct 7th Congressional District. Arguments on both sides are actually fairly strong, and the campaigns have gotten incredibly nasty. Living in Lafayette Parish and working in Vermilion Parish, I am getting rather tired of it. | Read More »
Thermopylaeing the Republican Party
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | November 8th at 08:50 PM |
I just turned one of the most famous Greek battles into a verb. Let me just enjoy that accomplishment for a moment. Before I go on, full disclosure: my personal beliefs on abortion and gay marriage are not up for debate. I am very certain you and I disagree on some social issues, but as Mr. Erickson pointed out to me earlier today, the Republican | Read More »
National Taxpayers Union endorses Jeff Landry
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | November 1st at 03:17 PM |
Hey, Louisiana folks. Fantastic news. With only a few days left to go, the National Taxpayers Union has endorsed Jeff Landry for U.S. Representative in District 3. “It’ll take a combination of tenacious veterans, recently-tested tax-fighters, and many energetic newcomers to get the nation’s finances back on the path to sustainability,” said National Taxpayers Union Campaign Fund (NTUCF) President Duane Parde. “Congressman Landry is an | Read More »
Take a moment to enjoy anti-Romney people’s comments
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 31st at 01:53 PM |
I work at a newspaper that belongs to a media group who recently endorsed Mitt Romney and is running editorials saying such in all its papers. Granted, I’m a lowly sports editor, but those of you who read what I post often enough know politics is my favorite sport. Once one of these goes in the paper, we then put it online. Luckily, some Obama | Read More »
Your First Time
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 25th at 08:50 PM |
My first time was in the back of a Dodge. I was furiously going to town, in a rush to get finished. The absentee ballot deadline was fast approaching. Holy crap. This ad is extraordinary. I cannot believe someone would think this was a go-… A suggestive ad rallying support for Putin’s presidential campaign shows a young woman seeking a fortune-teller’s advice. “Let’s find out, | Read More »
Here’s what I’d like Romney to say on Monday
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 18th at 11:37 PM |
I actually ended up doing one of these for both candidates. You can find the Obama speech at my blog, if you wish to read it. —————————————————————– Good evening Mr. Moderator, Mr. President and America. The President has spent four years appeasing one, single region in the world. And even in attempting to appease them, he has failed. By now, we all know that, in | Read More »
The Town Hall Tie That Wasn’t
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 17th at 12:15 AM |
So, here we are, fresh after debate number two. Twitter actually stopped me from tweeting. Apparently, I went too hardcore. It is clear to me that this debate was a tie, if only because both sides are trumpeting the victory of their candidate. I did hear a lot about how rude Romney was, but these same people were silent during Biden’s relentless interruptions, and Biden | Read More »
Braaaaaains and Politics: The VP Debate
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 8th at 09:08 PM |
Zombies are so damn overplayed, but there is a key element in them. It is so easy for the infection to spread. Just one zombie can turn a population into a bunch of mindless creatures. Everybody is sure the debate between incumbent vice president Joe Biden and challenger Paul Ryan is going to be a slaughter. I’m not so confident. It’s not that I can’t | Read More »
