More on Turkey and Syria
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 4th at 04:05 PM |
Turkey has authorized cross-border action against Syria if need be. This according to Al Jazeera. The mandate, valid for one year, was passed by 320 votes in the 550-seat Turkish parliament, the Anatolia news agency reported on Thursday. Besir Atalay, Turkey’s deputy prime minister, said authorising the use of force in Syria was not a declaration of war but was intended as a deterrent. The vote | Read More »
Turkey, Syria exchange shells (I don’t mean they went to the beach together)
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 3rd at 07:56 PM |
Turkey has hit targets inside Syria. Syria has hit targets inside Turkey. NATO is upset. According to the BBC article: A woman and her three children were among those killed earlier when the shells, apparently fired by Syrian government forces, hit Akcakale. Turkey’s response marks the first time it has fired into Syria during the 18-month-long uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Nato ambassadors discussed | Read More »
Oh my God, a new video of Obama changes everything! …Except not really…
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | October 2nd at 11:43 PM |
The Daily Caller has posted the “damning” video of a Barack Obama speech from 2007. It was simultaneously prepared to be made public with Sean Hannity and The Drudge Report at 10/9 CST. Hannity opens his show with it. Drudge put it up. The Daily Caller’s reported was on Hannity’s show and ready to let ‘er rip. Okay, let’s get this out of the way. This is | Read More »
Why the media leans that way
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | September 23rd at 12:27 AM |
We hear it all the time. The Media is a left-leaning collection of reporters and commentators who have completely invested their jobs in the liberal ideology. But have you ever stopped to think why that is? I am a trained journalist. I have a degree and everything. Just to get right down to it, it really begins at that point. You know the old saying | Read More »
On 9/11, Depression and Overcoming
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | September 11th at 07:50 PM |
“Where were you on 9/11?” It’s a question still asked by many, even eleven years after the fact. Each time it is asked of my generation, we say we were at school. Older folks say they were at work or at home. Unlike my generation, I, too, was at home. I didn’t go to school that day. I was woken up by my dad at | Read More »
DNC Night Two: I am so happy right now
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | September 5th at 10:36 PM |
Basically, the following are my thoughts on tonight’s festivities in Charlotte. I encourage all of you to post your jokes about this great evening either in the comments or tweet them to me. I’ll gladly share them with the Internet. Let’s start with Elizabeth Warren, who introduce herself as Bill Clinton’s warm-up act. Already, I’m in tears. Who does that? Who opens themselves up f-… | Read More »
Conservatism and Politics, Oil and Water
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | August 19th at 11:32 PM |
What strikes me as odd is that we see a growing trend in the country of voters becoming more and more Conservative, but we see government acting rather liberally with our money and even on the social issues. So, with the voter wanting to see the change of politics to their values, and electing people to do just that, why isn’t it happening? I am | Read More »
Is anyone else excited now?
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | August 11th at 09:12 PM |
Finally, we can all sit back, relax and actually be allowed to feel something that isn’t “What the hell?” toward the Romney campaign. This has been the most boring race so far, at least in the Romney camp. Miscues, missed opportunities, Andrea Saul’s absolutely inane statement and nothing for a Conservative to sit back and say HOORAY over. Then, this morning last night happened. The | Read More »
A Game of ADOS
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | July 12th at 09:08 PM |
ADOS stands for “Attention Deficit… Ooh! Shiny!” and it’s a game being played in this presidential election. We’ve had so many distractions in this race I can hardly remember what the issues are. Luckily, we have the Inter-… …Nevermind. The Bain Capital attacks are always fun. The immigration issue caught a lot of us off guard. Obamacare? Another one. We have yet to sit in | Read More »
A Political Shotgun Wedding
By: Joe Cunningham (Diary) | May 29th at 11:27 PM |
I attended a public hearing tonight that can really only be described as a political shotgun wedding. To the City Council for Natchitoches, Louisiana (That is pronounced how it looks, folks: NACK-UH-TISH. You can see that, right?), the right side of the audience was the groom’s family, the left the bride’s family. Both sides did not like each other. The right side of the crowd | Read More »
