NRA Endorses Perriello

Very disturbing news from the Martinsville Bulletin:

Both incumbent Congressman Tom Perriello and challenger state Sen. Robert Hurt say they are supported by the National Rifle Association, but both also expect Perriello to get the NRA’s endorsement in the 5th District congressional race….

The NRA will make congressional race endorsements Oct. 1 or the following week, according to an association spokesman. She added that the association’s “friendly incumbent rule” means that elected officials who support the NRA and have a good voting record on issues of importance to it will continue to receive its support….

The NRA has contributed $1,000 to Perriello’s re-election campaign, according to Barba and federal election records.

Not too much to add to this other than my mounting disgust with the NRA. Given the fact that they will take hard earned member funds and use it to support a man who does everything in his power to increase the role and reach of our national government into every aspect of our lives, I am feeling gratified that I let my membership lapse. At least my money will not support a candidate that I will crawl over broken glass to vote against on November 2.

The NRA has lost the ability to differentiate between a 2A supporter and a political weasel who uses the 2A to better his electoral chances.

Maybe they will surprise us on October 1, but don’t hold your breath.

As a side note, the reference article mirrors the talking points from Perriello’s radio ad blitz now running on local stations touting his ‘conservative’ record of supporting gun rights, budget cuts and opposing Pelosi.

All departments at MiniTrue are working overtime…

and a LOT of NRA members have come to recognize that the board is a little left of their center of gravity. The NRA has lost an enormous amount of good will this election cycle and their endorsement does NOT carry the weight it used to prior to 2010!

but I would say judging by the yard sign tally around the liberal end of the VA05 district Hurt has a good edge. The NRA has indeed burned a lot of good will over the last few years, and I don’t see them eager to make it back up.

Perriello is getting desperate as his latest ad attacking Hurt as a big tax raiser! I was screaming curses at the radio when I heard that – the inmitigated gaul of these democrats. The sad truth is that Hurt did vote to raise taxes and is (at best) a dysfunctional conservative (and we could have had so much better!).

But still, he is light years better than this un-bearded, shameless, marxist. I expect the ads to become even more disjointed from reality if the last election cycle is any guide (lot’s of outside groups).

So, if you split the difference between Periello’s own polls, and the SurveyUSA one, my guess is that Hurt is up at least +10% in VA-05 right now.

That said, I expect Hurt will win by something closer to 20% – I’m expecting only Grayson of FL (and possibly Kosmas of FL) to lose by more…

and the polls in the race, earlier on has Hurt beating the marxist Perriello by wide margins. I heard this polls results on local radio-

      http://bearingdrift.com/2010/08/18/new-poll-shows-hurt-leading-perriello/

In a poll from Aug., it showed the race at 49-43 with Hurt in the lead. As the article claims, it is probably a better picture on the race. The website linked is a Republican website. I don’t doubt for a minute that Hurt is leading, but, I don’t buy that it is by more than 20%. There was never a question that the poll would tighten. It is a worry to me that the poll is tightening this many weeks in advance. When Perriello ran against Goode in 08, Goode was leading against the election stealer, by wide margins, until very close to election day. Do not discount the fact that Perriello will do all he can to steal the election once again. His war chest against Hurt makes Hurt’s money look like pocket change. Perriello has Soros backing, and, his biggest contributor is ActBlue, a Soros organization. Perriello brought NY politics to VA. He is a sleaze bag Progressive. As expected, he has commercials about Hurt’s tax increase votes plastered everywhere.
