Obama’s Failure to Connect

On October 28th President Obama flew to Delaware’s Dover Air Force Base to honor the return of 18 servicemen killed in Afghanistan. Again on November 10th the President flew to Fort Hood, Texas to honor the soldiers and civilians killed in the first terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. What was missing at both of these events was any emotional connection by the President to the nation’s losses.

Once thought of as cool, calm, and collected, President Obama has revealed himself to be a colder, more calculating individual, and somewhat narcissistic. History has shown these are not traits that endear a President to the public, hence, the failing poll numbers.

A president must be able to shed a few tears once in a while. As president, George Bush was shown on many occasions to have tears in his eyes as he dealt with the tragic events of 9/11 and the acts of heroism and sacrifice in the aftermath. Tears show both humility and humanity—to date, Obama has shown neither.

Obama Declares War on the Profit Motive

When it comes to the healthcare industry, the banking industry, the insurance industry, the oil industry and other sectors of the economy, President Obama and his Ivy League cohorts seem to have declared war on profits and the profit motive. According to President Obama, profits are evil. Profits don’t create jobs or grow the economy; they only serve to enrich the wealthy investor class. Only government can grow the economy. As a self educated neo-economist, let me correct this misconception.

The profit motive is an economic force that generates profits for an individual or company that has invested in a business enterprise. The profits generated by the profit motive are used to grow the business enterprise by expanding its customer base, hiring new employees, and investing in new business ventures. Businesses also use the profit motive to cut costs and improve profit margins, thereby generating more profits. All of this activity spurs economic growth, creates jobs, and raises the standard of living for all those who participate. Only anti-capitalists would consider profits evil.

President Obama said it best at a town hall meeting in August when he inadvertently said, “…UPS and FedEx are doing just fine….it’s the post office that’s always had the problems.” He could also have said Ford is doing just fine and will soon start to generate profits again.  It’s GM and Chrysler that will need more taxpayer bailouts—for generations to come.

The Nobel Peace Prize Winners and Losers for 2009

The winner of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize by unanimous vote is President Barrack Obama. Other winners of this year’s award include Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Syria, nuclear proliferation, the Taliban, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Neville Chamberlain wing of the Democratic Party.

The losers and those given no consideration by the committee include Israel, American service men and women fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, the former Eastern Block countries, General Stanley McChrystal, national security interests home and abroad, any progress for world peace before 2012, Sweden, and the Nobel Peace Prize itself.

President Obama has indicated he will accept the award. As he leads the charge to diminish our national defense posture and alienate our friends and allies abroad, he positions himself very well to repeat the honor in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Surely world nuclear disarmament can’t be far behind. Congratulations Mr. President on this well deserved tribute to your achievements—what are they again?

The Beginning of the End for ACORN

According to activist filmmaker James O’Keefe’s recently released video tapes, taxpayer supported ACORN offices in Baltimore, MD and Washington D.C. were more than willing to accommodate a pimp and his prostitute in their plans for business expansion. Their plans included the purchase of housing and the importation of under aged illegal immigrant girls from El Salvador, all for the expressed purpose of establishing a criminal enterprise—prostitution.

With the public disclosure of these allegations and others dealing with voter fraud and corruption, Congress and the Justice Department should immediately open investigations into ACORN and its criminal activities. The Democratic Party and the Obama administration should also reevaluate their close ties to ACORN.

I have a sense that America is paying very close attention to these allegations and where they could lead. Come 2010 and 2012, American voters will be reevaluating their support for a Democratic controlled Congress and White House. With current voter sentiment reaching a crescendo of anger and discontent, that outcome is not in doubt. I predict double digit Democratic congressional loses in 2010—and the ousting of a one term President in 2012.

Governor Palin is free to move about the country—and she’s looking for big game.

Since the beginning of July, the top news headlines have been all Michael Jackson. In second place is Governor Sarah Palin. On July 3rd, Governor Palin announced she will be stepping down as Governor of Alaska effective the end of July. Speculation has been rampant, with most news media outlets and political pundits jumping on the band wagon to quickly criticize her decision and spin her announcement as a political epitaph.

Of course, Governor Palin supporters know the real reason for her resignation. She’s running for President in 2012. As self proclaimed campaign advisor to the “Palin for President” campaign, I suggest she announce her run for the presidency from the same Caterpillar plant in East Peoria, IL made famous by Barrack Obama. She should ask those assembled, “How’s that stimulus working for ya?’

From there she should head over to Tiergarten Park in Berlin, Germany. The same Tiergarten Park made famous by Barrack Obama. There she should announce that America will not kowtow to two-bit dictators like Hugo Chaves, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Castro Twins, or Vladimir Putin. America is again on the march for freedom, liberty, and justice for all.

On her return to America, she should hold rallies in states with the highest unemployment. Most of those states would be blue states. She should ask one simple question at these rallies; “Are you better off today then you were six months ago?” Time will always march on, but the answer to this question will never change as long as Democrats control Congress.

At some point she should move to Iowa, the same Iowa made famous by Barrack Obama. She should help Iowa Republicans take back the state in 2010. This would propel her into the national spotlight and certify her as the “front runner” in Republican circles. Her quest for the Republican nomination in 2012 would be assured

Along with all the speculation, I sense a tinge of fear as the political elite talk her down. They know if she decides to run she could win big in 2012, sending shock waves through Washington’s political establishment. She could also propel conservative Republicans back into the majority.

I don’t know if Governor Palin will run for President in 2012, I can only hope. But the public should be warned. If you’re a liberal Democrat; beware. If you’re a member of the political elite; take heed. If you’re name is Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Barrack Obama; cover your tracks. Come August 1st, Governor Sarah Palin is free to move about the country—and she’s looking for big game.

Angry Voters in 2009; Elections in 2010

Since becoming President, Barrack Obama has angered a lot of Americans. I’m angry that terrorists in Afghanistan now have the right to remain silent and the right to a court appointed attorney.  I’m also angry that the Obama administration is spending trillions of dollars we don’t have. This summer I’ve noticed a large and growing number of Americans are angry about something. For Americans looking to join in the fun and get angry, there’s a plethora of reasons to choose from this year.

Many Americans are angry that former Vice President Dick Cheney isn’t yet behind bars. Other Americans are angry that we are winning the war in Iraq and doubling down in Afghanistan. I guess these angry Americans would rather we lose the war on terror as payback for America’s past sins. As a patriotic American, I’m angry at these angry Americans.

If you recently lost your job, you are angry. If you are facing home foreclosure, you are angry. If you are one of the 5% of Americans paying more in taxes this year, you are angry. If you voted for Obama and you now realize he can’t deliver on a whole host of campaign promises, you are doubly angry. With job losses, home foreclosures, and the national debt reaching new highs every month, we are fast becoming a nation of very angry people.

2010 will be the soonest angry Americans can act. I predict they’ll take their anger out at the ballot box. With all the dark clouds gathering on the political horizon, 2010 will be the year of the “perfect storm”.

Israel and the Bush Doctrine

For all you people who criticized George W. Bush for invading Iraq because of concerns about WMD’s, what would you now advise the Israeli government do about Iran? As with Iraq in 2003, the world can only speculate as to whether Iran has a nuclear weapons program. My guess is they do. What makes Israel more vulnerable then the United States to a nuclear strike has to do with geography

Simple put, the large geographical size and relative isolated location makes the Untied States virtually impossible to destroy with anything short of nuclear Armageddon. The little nation of Israel, on the other hand, could be destroyed from the fallout of just one nuclear blast. So now, do we wait for evidence of Iran’s nuclear program in the form of a mushroom cloud over Israel?

I should hope not. Knowing that Israel is surrounded by a Who’s Who of Iranian sponsored terrorist organizations, I would hope they put the Bush Doctrine of preemptive strike into action and destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program. If they don’t, chances are they’ll never see a mushroom cloud—they’ll be part of it.

Why I Am Now a FORD Man

As a junior in high school in 1970 I bought my first car, a 64’ Pontiac GTO. It will always be my favorite. Since then I’ve owned many General Motors vehicles, including a 1975 Chevy Camaro, a 1985 Chevy 1/2 ton Scottsdale, a 1990 GMC 4-wheel drive Sierra, a 2003 GMC 4-wheel drive Canyon, and most recently a 2008 GMC 4-wheel drive crew cab Sierra. My wife has also owned several GM vehicles over the years.

It’s sad to say but my 2008 Sierra will be my last GM vehicle. I don’t believe the federal government should be in the business of making cars. I don’t believe they should be in any kind of business at all. They’re not good at making practical business decisions. They’re only good at injecting politics into business decisions and spending (wasting) taxpayer money on these businesses (bailouts). In the case of Chrysler, giving unions priority over bondholders and a majority stake in the new company is a perfect example. The union is now both management AND labor. Is that going to work? NO.

How does Ford now compete with Government Motors? Ford files its corporate taxes with the federal government and must comply with government rules and regulations. As such, the government will have a distinct advantage in knowing its competitors inner workings. The government can then dictate to Ford policies that will make Ford less competitive, and force them into bankruptcy protection (government involvement). It sets a dangerous precedence when the government becomes your competitor. Whole industries will soon be under direct government control.

How do we stop this government takeover of the private sector? We start by not participating. I bought my last GM vehicle last year—I’m now a FORD man.

Cheney Speaks Truth to Idiots

Former Vice President Dick Cheney is smart, articulate, and knows his stuff. I still remember the two Vice Presidential debates in which he participated. With his straight forward, quick witted, no-nonsense debating style he easily won these debates with opponents Joe Lieberman and John Edwards. The fact that the Main Stream Media scored it different is proof of their bias, and their fears.

And now Mr. Cheney is taking on President Obama. A review of the two speeches last week that has everyone abuzz reveals the former Vice President is someone who can still maintain command of an audience with articulate oratory while the President is aloof and naïve and has to rely on teleprompters to be effective. I scored it Cheney 1 and Obama 0.

As a Republican, it’s our miss fortune that Dick Cheney never ran for President. He would have been a great one. Thank God, though, he’s still center stage in the public debate surrounding national security and the issues that confront us today. Right now, America can use a man with Dick Cheney’s talents—he speaks truth to idiots.

Obama gives Republicans Clarity of Purpose; Election Victories will Follow—Guaranteed!

The ‘leftie’ blogs and the ‘Main Stream Media’ are currently saturated, indeed wringing wet, with articles and commentaries pointing out the recent turn of events (Arlen Spector, Colin Powell, etc…) as proof the Republican Party is in disarray and on the decline. As for me, I respectfully disagree. I say to those RINO’s contemplating similar moves, “So long, farewell, Auf wiedersehen, goodbye!”, and, “don’t let the door hit ya’ where the Good Lord split ya’.” I say to the Republicans, not since Ronald Reagan have we been given the opportunity to draw such a distinct contrast to the philosophical and moral differences we have with Democrats. By all means, let’s take advantage of this opportunity.

Let’s begin by standing on the principals of American exceptionalism. Let’s reaffirm our priorities of strong national defense, conservative fiscal restraint, defense of the defenseless, family friendly policies and family values, and effective, efficient, lean government as opposed to just ‘bigger’ government. As a former Democrat, these are the principals that drew me to the Republican Party, and these are the principals that will drive more Americans to the Republican Party as they renew their faith in America.

Obama is a personality; and the cult of personality will fail, mark my words. But what Obama has given us as Republicans is clarity, and a clear road to victory. With clarity comes purpose; election victories will follow—guaranteed.
