How qualified to be vice president of the United States could a Republican be who:
Is young – under 45 years old?
Speaks in favor of economic development of Alaska?
Advocates and engages in exercise for personal fitness?
Has lived in the wilds of the American Northwest?
Fishes, hunts, and loves the great outdoors?
Has a reputation, not as an environmentalist, but as a conservationist?
Has at least five children?
Is a moralist for whom every issue is a struggle between good and evil?
Is a reformer who has taken on the GOP’s “good old boy network”?
Believes corporations should be controlled, but not strangled?
Said, “These fools on Wall Street think they can go on forever. They can’t”?
Has made some powerful enemies?
Believes the military needs to be expanded?
Has shown a brilliant sense of political symbolism and timing?
Believes the people, not the courts, should determine their own policies?
Is not a lawyer?
Has never been elected to national office?
Is on the GOP ticket for VP with less than two years in the governor’s office?
Pretty well qualified, as it turns out.
The year is 1900, and the candidate for vice president is Theodore Roosevelt.

Is this young governor qualified to be VP?

We know Sarah Palin is well qualified to be vice-president, and if necessary, president. History proves it!!

Orca Saturday, September 20th at 3:46PM EDT (link)Teddy Roosevelt, when he was tapped to be veep had already served on the federal level as Asst. Sec of the Navy, incharge of preparing our navy for the Spanish-American War. He had also graduated from Harvard and attended Columbia Law School. He was a published author of politcal history. He had years of activity in state and local politics.
Sarah P. has barely been outside the country, has zero real foreign policy experience, took years to get a BA (4yr degree) in Journalism after attending 6 schools.
Comparing Sarah Palin and Teddy Roosevelt is an example of the dumbing down of American History and shows disrespect for TR.
So, you're voting for McCain, then.

Orca Saturday, September 20th at 4:11PM EDT (link)You know when you leap to such big conclusions you are likely to pull a muscle.
This article and thread is about comparing Palin and Roosevelt. Obama and Lincoln are not part of this equation.
Regardless of what the experience levels of Obama,Lincoln or Millard Fillmore are (or were) I still say Palin is no Teddy Roosevelt. You do yourself no favors by showing ignorance of American History.
No answer. No surprise.

Qualification
DonPMitchell (Diary) Saturday, September 20th at 9:41PM EDT (link)Orca, I’m assuming you’re an Obama supporter. I’m not, but nevertheless you make a good point about Palin’s poor educational background. Obama has been a Senator and went to Harvard, where he was president of the Law Review. There’s no question in my mind he is intelligent and knowledgeable, I just don’t agree with his leftwing philosophy.
I was talking to another older Republican I know, a businessman, and he had the same concerns about Palin as I do. There are a lot of us who are very unhappy about Palin. Her energy and personality are wonderful, but she seems totally unqualified to be president. And after all, that is the most important issue with a VP, could she be president? The major of a tiny town, governer of Alaska for less than two years, a young-earth creationist, a journalism major from third tier schooling. What was McCain thinking?
