Journalism is still dead

Doctors describe its condition as "unchanged"

A while back, I wrote Journalism’s obituary.

Now one of my favorite authors, Victor Davis Hanson, has penned this excellent piece on its demise. Unlike my meager effort, VDH’s essay is eloquent and comprehensive.

Highly recommended.

Drag on the ticket in PA

In Biden country, Sarah packs 'em in

The latest meme from the in-the-tank-for-Obama MSM is that Gov. Sarah Palin, as the GOP vice presidential nominee, is a “drag” on her party’s ticket. They even have numbers from their own polls to back it up, thanks to a generous oversampling of Democrats to fudge the results.

The drag on the ticket in PA

Promoted from RedHot. - Moe Lane

The drive-by Obamunist media and pollsters are trying to convince us that Sarah Palin is a “drag” on John McCain’s presidential ticket.

Meanwhile local televeision station WNEP, located in Joe Biden’s hometown of Scranton, PA, reports on the visits of the two vice presidential candidates to nearby Williamsport on the same day (emphasis mine):

There is excitement in the air in Williamsport. Thousands of fans of both vice presidential hopefuls, Democrat Senator Joe Biden and Republican Governor Sarah Palin, are cheering on their favorites in Williamsport.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand at Lycoming College to hear Democratic vice
presidential hopeful Senator Joe Biden.

It all started around 2 p.m. at Lycoming College’s Lamade Gymnasium on Mulberry Street. Several hundred people packed the gym for a opportunity to show their support for the Obama - Biden ticket.

-snip-

As Biden was speaking at Lycoming College, Republicans were filing into Bowman Field, just a few miles away. That’s where Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will speak at about 7 p.m.

At least 10,000 tickets have been given out to see the Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Joe Biden can only draw a few hundred people in his old stomping grounds, while Sarah Palin attracts thousands in the same town on the same day?

Who’s the real ticket-dragger?

Joe Biden was against gay marriage before he was for it

Thanks for clearing that up, Senator

October 2: In the vice presidential debate, when asked if he would support gay marriage, Joe Biden answers, “No. Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage.”

October 20: Biden is a guest on the Ellen Degeneres Show, and says that if he lived in California, he would vote against Proposition 8, a ballot initiative which would ban gay marriage.

Isn’t it refreshing to finally see a pol who has the courage of conviction?

Why McCain should win Tuesday

Four reasons the MSM won't mention

I believe John McCain will pull off an upset victory in the general election next Tuesday, just as he revived what all the “experts” had said was a dead campaign and went on to win the primaries which earned him his party’s nomination. There are five reasons for my optimism for the McCain-Palin ticket’s chances.

Rendell: People at McCain rallies don’t have any wealth

Thank you, Gov. Obvious

At about 3:05 in this YouTube video excerpt from the Rachel Maddow show on MSDNC, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell lets it slip:

I look at these McCain rallies in Pennsylvania, and he says ‘Barack Obama’s going to take your wealth.’ But they don’t have any wealth.

Right, Guv! It’s the wealthy who support Obama. The average Joe the plumber, Mike the mechanic, and Florence the flower shop owner support John McCain because they don’t have any wealth. That’s why they can’t afford for Obama to tax all the profits out of their small business aspirations. They can’t afford for Obama to let the Bush tax cuts expire. The great majority of average Americans can’t afford an Obama-nation!

Can Obama be trusted on Israel?

Time is up, Senator

Sen. Barack Obama’s priorities were revealed in his answer to the following question from moderator Brian Williams in the Democrats’ first presidential debate back in the Spring of 2007:

Chill, Baby, Chill

Domestic drilling goes under the bus if Obama wins

The familiar refrain of “Drill, baby, drill” has become a rallying cheer at all John McCain and Sarah Palin campaign events. It puts an exclamation mark on the GOP ticket’s all-of-the-above energy policy. That policy calls for tapping all of America’s bountiful energy resources, including renewables and other alternatives. When McCain and Palin make appearances in the coal belt of the eastern states, the mantra is expanded to include, “and mine, baby, mine.”

Great news for McCain!

He's up 889 points in this poll.

It could be the most important poll of them all…

About that $150,000…

What a coincidence.

About that $150,000 that the RNC spent for campaign appearances sake on Clan Palin…

The liberals and their captive media outlets, MSDNC in particular, have been howling like lonesome coyotes over it. They don’t seem to think that the $5 Million and change that was spent to move Barack Obama’s acceptance speech from Denver’s Pepsi Center to Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium was in any way aa audacious as dropping a mere $150K on Gov. Palin and her family. Okay, we can play that game. Forget the Night of The Greek Columns.

By the strangest of political coincidences, $150,000 turns out to be exactly the same amount that Al Gore’s 2000 campaign paid Big Al’s fashion consultant Naomi Wolf. Team Gore cut checks to Ms. Wolf to the tune of $15,000 a month for about 10 months - from January through October of 1999. Then Donna Brazile took over the campaign and trimmed Wolf’s paycheck down to a paltry $5K per month.

So, the Dems spent $150K (not counting the actual clothes) putting Gore in earth tones, and the GOP spent $150K on fancy duds and other stuff making the Palins what ZZ Top would call “a sharp dressed clan.” I don’t think Al’s suits were put up for auction like the Palin clothes will be, but let’s not quibble over the small stuff. It’s a wash.

Now the donkeys and their media flies should please stop their braying and buzzing. Their hypocrisy has been outed.

You might be a McCain-Palin supporter if… (Updated)

Somebody gets in your face, your yard or your car.

Your 12-year old daughter gets called a racist by her classmates for wearing a T-shirt with your candidates’ names on it.

Your Lexus just got keyed.

Your car isn’t a Lexus, but it got keyed anyway.

Your political yard sign is missing.

Your political yard sign is missing, and there is only the empty frame for it left standing in your yard.

Your political yard signs are missing, but there are empty pizza boxes in your yard.

Your yard sign is still standing, but it has Molotov cocktail burns around the edges.

You’re 75 years old, and a 73-year old Democrat poll worker jumps on your back and starts pounding on your head because you objected to her marking your voter ballot for Obama when your intention was to vote for McCain.

Your face is bruised because your political sign was ripped out of your hands, and you were beaten with the stick it was attached to.

Your head got shoved into a wall at a restaurant.

You have a black eye and the letter “B” scratched onto your face because of your political bumper sticker. *Or not.

Your house gets shot up because of your political yard signs.

Your tour bus takes one for the team.

*UPDATE: Or, you could just be an unhinged Ron Paul supporter who made it all up.

The Obama Thugocracy Has Arrived

Words have meanings.

When Barack Obama urged his supporters to get in their face, did it not occur to him that some of his more deranged followers might take him literally?

A 20-year old woman was attacked and robbed at a Pittsburgh ATM today. A spokesperson for that city’s Police Department said that after the robber took the woman’s money, he became enraged when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on her car.

The perp then beat the victim with his hands, kicked her and used a knife to carve the letter “B” into her face.

WTAE has the story here.

Mr. Barone, about that Obama thugocracy you said was coming…

It’s here.

Equal Time: Why I am voting Democrat

Guest blogger Rev. Jeremiah "Che" Leftowitz 'splains it all

Today Red State recognizes Sen. Jeff Bingaman, Democrat of New Mexico, who is pushing for a new “Fairness Doctrine.” Should Barack Obama get himself elected, there will be, rather than checks and balances on a Democrat congress determined to bring radical change to this nation, a willing accomplice and cheerleader in the White House. Among the many new measures sure to be passed by the congress and signed into law by a President Obama will be the Doctrine.

We can already see what NBC’s concept of “fairness” is on its cable news network MSDNC. It’s all DNC talking points all the time, with the possible exception of one token “conservative” in the person of former U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough. In that same spirit, Mainstream Conservative presents its own preview of internet life under the “Fairness Doctrine” by giving “equal time” to guest blogger Rev. Jeremiah “Che” Leftowitz, who explains why he is voting Democrat.

Move over, Joe the Plumber. Here’s Joe the Dumber!

Let's talk national security a while...

Just when the Obama campaign was enjoying the focus of the race being on a weak economy, here comes Joe Biden to bring the game back to John McCain’s strong suit - foreign policy and national security issues. Not only that, but Biden managed to stencil a big question mark over his running mate’s head at the same time. And the big ol’ dumb guy made it all look so effortless, too.

Bummer for their side.

Fashioning criticism

The anti-Palin media critiques are wearing thin

Now the Obamunist media is upset over the shopping spree the RNC sent the Palin family on soon after John McCain named Alaska’s governor as his running mate. The talking heads among them won’t dare mention that their own fancy threads are freebies, btw.

It’s come down to the wire on the Battleground

Mr. Franklin's republic may be saved after all

When it comes to political public opinion polls, if I had to pick the one which I would trust more than all the others, it would be the Battleground Poll. Unlike most other polls, the Battleground presidential poll is a bipartisan effort of The Tarrance Group, a company with Republican clients, and Lake Snell Perry & Associates, a polling firm which serves Democrats.

Of the four presidential elections since 1992, the Battleground Poll was the most accurate predictor of the actual outcome among all public polls in three of the four, coming within a tenth of a point to the actual results in the 2004 election. The only one they were off the mark on was the election of 2000.
