Maxine Waters & Co. bust ACORN

It must depend on what the meaning of the word "nonpartisan" is

ACORN on ACORN:

ACORN is a non-profit, non-partisan social justice organization with national headquarters in New York, New Orleans and Washington, D.C.

Maxine Waters & Co. on ACORN:

“Obama needs ACORN, and we need OBAMA”

Now, about that tax-exempt status…

“It’s the socialism, stupid!”

Joe the Plumber has changed the campaign narrative

In just a week’s time, the narrative of the presidential campaign has become, “It’s the socialism, stupid!”

In the Real Clear Politics average of major polls, Obama’s lead has dropped from +8.7 (for 10/8 – 10/13) to +5.0 (for 10/12 – 10/18). That’s a slide of almost 4 points, nearly half (46%) of last week’s BHO lead.

The race is getting tighter, and it’s not close to being over.

Obama’s Joe-the-Plumber screw up is opening some voters’ eyes out there. John McCain and Sarah Palin are hammering away at this.

This not the first time Obama has let the cat out of the bag:

“If you talk to Warren [Buffett], he’ll tell you his preference is not to meddle in the economy at all — let the market work, however way it’s going to work, and then just tax the heck out of people at the end and just redistribute it,” Obama said. “That way you’re not impeding efficiency, and you’re achieving equity on the back end.” He continued by saying that he thought there was some merit in Buffett’s argument.

McCain and Palin should work this little reminder from “Obamanomics” (ironically, an August NY Times article) into their stump speeches.

George Santayana, Yogi Berra and the Election

Where have we seen this stuff before?

Remember when it appeared that Sen. John Kerry might make George W. Bush a one-term president just like his father? Can’t remember that? Let’s do a memory refresh from October 16, 2004. Leftblogger Jerome Armstrong of mydd.com looked deep into a Washington Post poll and found encouragement in the internals. The WaPo survey reported that Kerry “continued to claim a large lead in key battleground states. In these 13 states, Kerry held a 53 percent to 43 percent advantage among likely voters.” Armstrong gushed:

That’s a 10% lead by Kerry in the battleground states– Wow!

-snip-

The WaPost poll showing that Kerry leads in the battleground states is confirmed by Rasmussen, which shows Bush leading Kerry nationally by 2 percent, 48-46, yet Kerry leading Bush in the battleground states by a 48-46 percent margin– a 4 percent swing.

Looking at the battleground states then, there is a 4-9 percent swing from the national polling. Kerry’s lead over Bush is firming.

Apologies to Jimmy Buffett

To the tune of “Margaritaville”

He raised the plant’s taxes
It made hachets and axes
Company closed down and moved overseas
Now I’ve got no paycheck
I’m just a broke redneck
Livin on free government cheese

Chorus:
Wastin away in Barack Obamaville
Searching for my long lost U-S of A
Some people claimed that we’d get hope and change
But I know it’s gone away

Allies of evil get my scorn, not my respect

Sorry, Senator

Obama’s connections to 1960s radical domestic terrorist Bill Ayers is one thing. Other than the three Weather Undergrounders who accidentally blew themselves up, the WU “only” killed three people – two LEOs and a Brinks guard. Of course if that bomb hadn’t gone off prematurely, many military NCOs, their spouses and dates would have been killed or maimed (the bomb was packed with nails to maximize injury).

Obama’s connection to convicted felon and slumlord Tony Rezko is another. In this case, for the most part anyway, it’s “only” money.

Is Sarah Palin a racist?

Sometimes racism exists only in the eye of the beholder

*Playing the race card against Sarah Palin is just the kind of tactic you would expect from the nutroots Left, and just days after John McCain announced that Alaska’s popular governor would be his running mate, the nutroots Left lowered itself to meet those expectations. LA Progressive, one of the more unhinged blogs in the Leftosphere, was quick to post a hit piece by Charley James. By way of hearsay from a waitress named “Lucille” who allegedly works in a restaurant which isn’t named in an undisclosed location in Alaska, James tosses out a disgusting quote which he expects us to believe came from Palin’s lips.

The blog’s description of the author is rather terse:

Charley James is an American journalist, author and essayist who lives in Toronto.

Obama Putting on Ayers

A fine kettle of red herrings

First Barack Obama top advisors said that their candidate “didn’t know” about Bomber Bill Ayers’ past and that the whole Obama-Ayers flap was a “red herring.” Now Obama says he “assumed that” Ayers had been rehabilitated.

So if Obama didn’t know that Ayers was a mad bomber, then why would he assume that the man needed rehabilitation?

What do we have here, a red herring or a fine kettle of fish? Perhaps Team Obama is trying to cook up a fine kettle of red herrings.

An endorsement bonanza for McCain-Palin

None more important than that by the NRA

Promoted from diaries. I’d also like to note something that Geraghty did: no Republican candidate since 1980 has won the Presidency without the endorsement of the NRA. True, there were only two (Bush in ’92; Dole in ’96), but it was still a necessary hurdle for McCain to cross. – Moe Lane

Today the McCain-Palin team raked in a bonanza of endorsements. According to conventional wisdom endorsements don’t matter that much in politics, but at least one of the multiple nods announced over the past two days for the GOP’s ticket could make a big difference. NRA-PVF, the National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund, put the gun rights organization’s stamp of approval on the Republican Party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates, and that endorsement carries a load of clout.

NRA doesn’t always made a presidential endorsement in an election year, and it has not been overly enthusiastic about McCain. Jim Geraghty explains in this post on his Campaign Spot blog hosted by National Review:

Creepy Comrades: The Ayers-Chavez Connection

"Curiouser and curiouser," said Alice

In a recent post I referred to a speech unrepentant domestic terrorist and Obama associate Bill Ayers delivered in Caracas, Venezuela, to the 2006 World Education Forum, sponsored by UNESCO. His text is full of Marxist rhetoric, but that’s just Marxist Ayers being Ayers. He’s also a professor of education, and there’s nothing unusual about his presence at a global forum on education sponsored by an arm of the United Nations.

But dig down below the topsoil, and you will discover that the ties between Ayers and Chavez run deeper than his appearance at an academic forum which just happened to be held in Venezuela that year.

Who says you can’t just make stuff up?

Building the perfect political beast

Who says you just can’t make stuff up?

Well, Barack Obama does, actually. “You can’t just make stuff up,” has become one of his favorite stump speech lines. But as we all know, you can just make stuff up, and not just in politics, either.

Making stuff up is taught in creative writing classes in college, and those authors who are accomplished at making stuff up are well rewarded for their efforts. British writer Mary Shelley, when she was just 18 years of age, made up a fantastic yarn about a scientist who used parts of corpses to make what he intended to be a man, but turned out to be a monstrous creature. Shelley’s book was originally titled Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, but it became popularly known by the short title of Frankenstein.

Bill Ayers: A Piranha in Obama’s Mainstream

Junior senator from Illinois does not show presidential-quality judgment

Sen. Barack Obama’s website still insists that unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers is just a “mainstream” college professor. Ironically, that whopper appears in a section of the site labelled “Fact Check” and as a quote attributed to the Associated Press. Don’t be surprised if it is scrubbed from the website soon. I recommend that one for caching just in case…

Millions of mainstream Americans will be at a loss to see how these remarks, delivered by Ayers to the 2006 World Education Forum in Caracas, Venezuela, are in any way consistent with their own views:

Capitalism promotes racism and militarism – turning people into consumers, not citizens…

Viva Presidente Chavez! Viva La Revolucion Bolivariana! Hasta La Victoria Siempre!

Unleashed Pit Bull Palin Bites Obama on his Ayers

Will McCain follow suit?

At a fundraiser today in Englewood, Colorado, GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin bared her Pit Bull teeth and bit Democrat presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama for his relationship with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Palin said:

“Our opponent though is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect, imperfect enough that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. Americans need to know this. Talk about taking the gloves off, I too being that outsider and only being a part of this for 5 weeks now, I think ok we gotta get the word out. This is in fairness to the electorate; we gotta start telling people what the other side represents.”

Team McCain has finally turned loose the self-described “Pit Bull with lipstick” to take a bite out of Obama where he may prove to be most vulnerable – his associations with radicals of various stripes.

It remains to be seen if McCain will go after Obama in a similar matter. But with just a month to go and trailing in the polls, what does he have to lose?

Protest

The Romulan Senator

I strongly protest recent allegations that in the vice presidential debates, Sen. Joe Biden appeared to have “Vulcan eyebrows.” The comment was not only racist in nature, but an affront to all Vulcans.

Anyone who takes the time to review videos of the debate can easily see that Biden’s eyebrows are clearly Romulan:

The Senator from Romulus

Vulcans do not lie. Romulans, however, are known prevaricators, as the record clearly shows. Biden’s many lies told during the debate, together with those eyebrows, leave little doubt that he is a Romulan mole.

It is logical.

Re: What will Tina Fey do now?

Which begs the question...

Agree, Mark.

And your question begs another, “What will Kathleen Parker do now?”

According to talk show host Mike Gallagher, she isn’t budging:

“On my radio show today, Parker defended her column. Feisty and a bit combative, she reiterated her belief that Gov. Palin is a lightweight who wasn’t “properly vetted” and ought to fade away into the sunset, clearing the way, as she put it, for Mitt Romney to become Sen. McCain’s running mate.”

News flash, Kathleen. John McCain is more than just a casual student of history, and even before Sarah Palin vindicated McCain’s decision to choose her with her outstanding performance in Thursday night’s debate, the Arizona senator was not about to repeat McGovern’s folly of 1972.

Mitt Romney is an adult who got over himself and put all of his energy into working for the McCain-Palin ticket, Kathleen. If only you and some other conservative elites would take a lesson for the gracious and politically astute former Massachusetts governor.

Defining Sarah

It's not about you, elites

The media elites of both the Left and the Right are trying so hard to define what Palin should say and do, and frankly it’s insulting to the average voter. Joe and Jane America couldn’t care less about what Palin reads, what Supremes ruling she dislikes the most or whether she’s familiar with all eight permutations of the Bush Doctrine.

What the average American wants to know from Sarah is what would she and John McCain do to make their lives better. What would they do about high gasoline prices? What would they do to make sure there’s a supply of gasoline if our foreign suppliers ever decide to use oil as a weapon against us? What is their answer to the small business owner who has to pay high taxes and deal with government regulations while they try to make their enterprises successful? What would they do to keep Acme Inc.’s local plant from pulling up stakes and moving overseas so that their son doesn’t lose his job there and the town doesn’t waste away? What would they do to help make sure that their daughter will be able to get back what she’s paying into Social Securtity when she gets old and retires? What would they do to help Mom and Pop get health insurance if they should lose their own jobs? What would they do to keep the family safe from terrorists and madmen who run nations with an iron fist while they seek to acquire nuclear weaponry?

These are the kinds of things average Americans worry about, not the crap that elites from Mo Dowd to George Will, wrapped up as they are in their tiny little universes which revolve around their overblown egos, think are important.

Ms. PAC-Man

Eating up the campaign cash

There are many twists and turns in the maze in which Poison Pelosi’s PAC-Man gobbles up the “fruits” of politics that are campaign cash:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband’s real estate and investment firm over the past decade, a practice of paying a spouse with political donations that she supported banning last year.

Financial Leasing Services Inc. (FLS), owned by Paul F. Pelosi, has received $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting fees from the speaker’s “PAC to the Future” over the PAC’s nine-year history.

The payments have quadrupled since Mr. Pelosi took over as treasurer of his wife’s committee in 2007, Federal Election Commission records show. FLS is on track to take in $48,000 in payments this year alone – eight times as much as it received annually from 2000 to 2005, when the committee was run by another treasurer.

Saying, “Democrats are committed to reforming the way Washington does business,” the speaker supported a bill last year that would have banned members of Congress from putting spouses on their campaign staffs.

Just like in the famous electronic game, Ms. PAC-Man seems to have encountered one “ghost” she cannot avoid. As with all Democrats, you have to watch what they do, opposed to what they say.
