CNN quietly scrubs Palin’s name from article

CNN must have felt the love.  The cable news network had included Sarah Palin with the likes of Rod Blagojevich, Elliot Spitzer, John Edwards, Ted Stevens and others in a year-end political review titled “Politicians who fell from grace in 2008.” As frequent RedState contributor Warner Todd Huston had pointed out at NewsBusters.com, every person named in the article, with the exception of Sarah Palin:

“have either been convicted of criminal actions, are indicted for corruption, lost their positions, been drummed out of their party, or are soon to face jail time.”

That there was no reason for Gov. Palin’s name to be associated with those of the seven criminals featured in the article seems to have been clear to everyone except the anonymous author of the CNN smear job.

An outcry immediately went up from the Sarah Palin blogging community, and other conservative bloggers quickly followed suit. Then Greta Van Susteren of CNN competitor Fox News Channel added her objection to the growing protests of outrage. Now, without posting an apology, retraction or even a single word of explanation, Sarah Palin’s name has been completely removed from the piece as it now appears on CNN’s website. Such “scrubbing” is a familiar tactic employed by the left, as they take their cue from the Communist Party style book. The damage has already been done, so a retraction wouldn’t mean much, except to demonstrate that CNN has at least a modicum of journalistic integrity left.

Apparently it does not.

Update: Greta blogs that CNN e-mailed a private apology to Gov Palin and asks why not a public apology.

Wishful thinking on the part of the Left.

The goodness of Sarah Palin poses a serious threat to them.

There will come a time when the days of George W. Bush, a very decent man, will be sorely missed.

How long before we stop hearing “Give him a chaaaaance”?

Why would you even bring up the lib’s positions against her to begin with? It seems to be the main point and part of your post.

Then you missed the point.

Josh Painter Monday, January 5th at 9:30PM EST (link)

The point of my post was that our own Warner Todd Huston set events in motion which forced CNN to rewrite its own story and then pretend that version 2.0 of that story is the original.

It’s just a small step, but it demonstrates that conservatives, using the blogosphere, can at least make the drive-by media change its underwear.

It’s a start.

turning the “snark off” in bold…My point (which I probably should have been clearer about after my little bout of sarcasm) is that CNN’s main priorities are about appealing the a left-wing crowd and as such, just the fact that Sarah Palin energized the base (including me and those like me) and seems closer in nature to my neighbors and myself than my two illustrious Senators (Feinstein & Boxer) in CNN’s mind makes her 1) a big target and 2) worthy of being on a list with crooks, adulterers and totally corrupt and worthless elected officials.

Of course CNN will not make an official retraction or apology, or even offer up who wrote the offending piece of garbage in the first place - it doesn’t fit in with the talking points. Bottom line - CNN is worthless and that is why I do not watch any of their broadcasts.

I was being sarcastic about the lib’s talking points (sorry Josh - maybe it was a little off target from your post) because I think that the powers that be at CNN believe that BS about Sarah and to them it is waaaaayyyyy worse than anything Spitzer, Blago or Stevens did. Hell, we have all heard the meme that “private” affairs should not be held against someone (unless, of course, the someone has a R after their name)

But kudos to Warner Todd Houston for starting the ball rolling - we have to take whatever victories we can get - I have a feeling we will be seeing lots more like this from CNN and the drive-by’s as the Obamination Celebration continues.

Liberals fear Palin

Marcus_Traianus Monday, January 5th at 7:20PM EST (link)

-so the playbook of hate and mendacious fallacy weaving is being followed. They are very afraid of a real living and breathing conservative, who lives her principles. Especially, a governor that will continue to make tangible changes in the political landscape, create economic opportunity and stamp out anyone, irrespective of party, that does not honestly represent the people.

Liberals are also unapologetic mysoginists- always giving a runner up door prize to women- incidentally the last glass ceiling to be shattered. See any Democrats on the horizon to fill that role? Oh wait, Caroline Kennedy; sure, there is someone qualified.

You can almost smell the fear as they continue their off-election character assasination with the help of a pitiful press that Goebbels would be proud of and c-rate so called comedians whose real-life pathetic lives we laugh at.

Add it all up and if Sarah continues to succeed politically, their worst fears will come true. Palin will one day hold a national office.

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

Contributor to The Minority Report

Tbone Monday, January 5th at 7:22PM EST (link)

deserves NOTHING but respect from conservatives, hey Achance?

Envisioning when all that is Left is the Right.

Hey, Tbone, if she makes nominee on her own,

Achance Monday, January 5th at 7:48PM EST (link)

I’ll support her. She didn’t have to campaign for the VP, nobody challenged her in primaries etc. If she can get through that and have the nomination of my Party, I’ll support her

In Wasilla, all it takes is an R behind your name and the hated “old boys” making sure you don’t have any credible R opposition. When she ran for Governor, she’d been the ADN’s darling, or at least their favorite Republican for a couple of years. The People were disgusted with Murkowski over appointing Lisa and bored to death by John Binckley. In the General it was the same old Tony Knowles, the liberal Democrat that tires to talk like a Republican and did nothign for eight years but keep his and his buddies’ butts in the big chair. Good time to be running for Governor.

And, if you’ll look back, you’ll see a post I did here when all the talk was of Pawlenty in which I said that if McCain’s going to nominate a nobody, he ought to nominate a nobody from nowhere since that nobody’s a woman. Guess it’s that great minds thing or something.

So, let’s see if she actually can answer questions and develop and articulate policies that can resonate on the national level. Other than giving money away, I haven’t seen any sign of it here. It’s been real easy to be popular in Alaska with oil at over a hundred, which it was for her first two budgets. Now she gets to see what it is like when you have to say no to people who supported you. And, yeah, I too would like to know what she reads other than the clippings file the staff gives her every morning.

In Vino Veritas

Hey Achance, I'd like your opinion on

red_oakster Monday, January 5th at 8:14PM EST (link)

something.

Palin’s weakness was her wobbliness on some policy areas. She has four years to do her homework and read up on the the history of US foreign policy and the American Constitution. That’s more than enough time and Alaska is about as far from the limelight as one could imagine.

She’s not stupid, and the remedy to her problem seems obvious (at least to me). So if she spent some time reading the right books and seeking out some regular conversations with the right experts, her main vulnerability would disappear. If she showed she had mastered her brief, she’d be very tough to beat for the nomination.

Do you think she has the self-discipline? Or is there something that would stop her from doing what she needs to do?

Like I told Tbone, if she's the nominee, I'll support her.

Achance Monday, January 5th at 8:49PM EST (link)

Because to be the nominee, she’s going to have to buck up and do some stuff against meaningful Republican opposition. The one time she had an effective opponent at the Statewide level here, she lost because she go “out conservatived” by Loren Leman. And she had plenty of “old boy” support; Murkowski made no secret of the fact that he wanted her to be his running mate.

So, she’s smart and ruthless, let’s see if she has the discipline to make herself into a viable top of the ticket candidate for higher office - or even for her own re-election in ‘10. That said, I’m still not convinced that she won’t primary Lisa Murkowski; you run a play as long as it gains yards and she can run against Frank having appointed her and Ted and Don having been so instrumental in Lisa beating Tony Knowles in ‘04. A reprise of the “taking on the old boys” thing. Again, I’m a dance with who brung you sort, so I’ll be backing Lisa even though I think it was the dumbest thing Murkowski did and it cost all of his chances of a successful administration - right from the first week!

In Vino Veritas

Can't argue with this logic.

Real simple, Tbone, and something the philosophers here don't get sometimes.

Achance Monday, January 5th at 9:11PM EST (link)

Lisa Murkowski is an incumbent senator now who won her own re-election, with some help from Stevens and Young. She’s doing a good job and will have over a term of seniority. I’m not willing to give up that seniority so Sarah Palin can advance her career. You dance with who brung you in politics or people stop taking you out. Sarah Palin has never left the dance with who brung her and some day that will cost her.

That said, we were doomed as an administration the minute Frank did it. The People never forgave him and the ADN never let anybody forget it. ‘Course, the ADN has hated Frank Murkowski ever since he beat their darling Clark Gruening back in 1980 - even before they were a McClatchey leftwing rag, they were just a home grown leftwing rag. Winning that ‘04 election for Lisa dictated EVERYTHING we did for the first two years.

Now that I’m retired, I’ve had time to reflect on some of it and I think I didn’t have much common sense. In fact, I think I was pretty damned stupid throughout my career. I turned down the bribes, walked away from most of the corrupt bargains, and stayed away from most of the pretty young things that just loved my title. In retrospect, I’d have been a lot better off if I’d taken the bribes and got in on the deals. Most of it is so arcane that there’s no way to convict you even if you get caught. Only if you’re so arrogant that you challenge the prosecutor or try to lie your way out of it can anything ever happen to you except you just get richer and richer, have nicer and nicer houses, cars, and boats, and always have PYTs on your arm. If a prosecutor comes along, you just make it easy for him and cop to something simple, make a tearful appearance on TV with your adoring wife, and go on with life.

An Important Tell

davo119 Tuesday, January 6th at 3:43AM EST (link)

The election was two months ago and yet Sarah Palin is still front page news. This is comment #39 of a story chronicling yet another bold faced lie in the MSM attempting to disparage her. There is something here that is unique and enduring and is based in the substance of her appeal. She is simpley able to connect with people. That connecting ability is not something which can be learned or feigned, it is a gift.

She has connected with the hard core left as well as with conservatives and ordinary middle class families. That is why the attacks on her and her family rose to such hideous levels out of all proportion to anything yet seen in a national campaign with zero criticism by the MSM.

If her very existance wasn’t such a threat to the pyramid of lies that is the core of liberalism and such a great hope for those who want to enjoy liberty and freedom she would cerrtainly have been forgotten by now.

Once the inauguration is over and the accompanying pandamonium subsides there are fundraisers she can attend (there will be numerous offers) and she can enter the political arena in her own right. Her presence at the Republican Governors Conference and campaigning for Saxby Chandliss is a good start.

Never give in! Never! Never! Never!
