The Telegrah reports:
Mirek Topolanek, who is running the EU presidency despite the collapse of his government in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, highlighted European splits over the fiscal stimulus plans promoted by President Obama…
Mr Topolanek warned the European Parliament that the Obama administration’s stimulus package and financial bail-out “will undermine the stability of the global financial market”.
“All of these steps, these combinations and permanency is the way to hell,” he told Euro-MPs in Strasbourg.
Obama’s supporters assured us during the presidential campaign that The One would achieve a new respect for the U.S. among the European nations. That doesn’t appear to be working out very well.
And all the roads jam up with credit
And there’s nothing you can do
It’s all just pieces of paper flying away from you
Oh look out world, take a good look
What comes down here
You must learn this lesson fast and learn it well
This ain’t no upwardly mobile freeway
Oh no, this is the road
Said this is the road
This is the road to hell

Here's my shortlist so far:
aesthete Wednesday, March 25th at 10:31PM EDT (link)Israel: Obama’s first call was not to the only functioning democracy to the Middle East, but to a group (not a nation, but a group) whose main claim to fame is blowing up an awful lot of stuff in both Israel, the Occupied Territories, and abroad. (Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan, anyone?)
Britain: Insultingly poor preparation, taste, and a general apathy surrounding the first meeting that the Obama Administration had with the outgoing PM of GB. I will note that Brown shares many of Obama’s same views; it can only get worse with a Tory PM. Oh yeah, and returning the Churchill bust so generously loaned to us by GB after 9/11.
France: Snubbing the reigning President of France by making contact with Jacques Chirac, the former President, in favor of Sarkozy, who he doesn’t even mention in passing in his letter to Chirac.
Eastern Europe: Obama’s meeting with expansionist Russia ahead of eastern European nations like Poland, as well as his stated dropping of the missile shield.
Europe in general: A proposed “renegotiation” of our trade agreements and a stunning lack of coordination for how the economic problem will be dealt with, now that it’s gone global.
I have a question: has Obama visited Iraq ever since being inaugurated? I don’t remember him having done so, but I could be wrong.
