Poll: Voters Trust GOP over Dems on 8 of 10 Key Issues
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | July 11th at 05:35 PM |
Well, that didn’t take long. Those of us who expected the Democrats, with control over three DC houses — House, Senate and White House — to blow it didn’t expect it happen so quickly. But it seems that the donkey party, by misinterpreting their 2008 election victory as a mandate (it wasn’t) and by overreaching on the stimulus, abortion, cap and trade, health care reform | Read More »
You can still call her ‘governor’ after July 26
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | July 8th at 07:39 PM |
Like ex-senators and former presidents, ex-governors retain their honorific titles, so Sarah Palin will still be addressed as “Governor Palin” after she officially turns the reigns of her office over to Sean Parnell July 26. The 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate has never been much of a stickler for that kind of thing, though, as she signs “Sarah” to her non-official correspondence. So what will | Read More »
In other news…
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | April 29th at 12:48 AM |
Completely drowned out by all the hoopla over news of Arlen Specter’s return to the Democrat Party he abandoned so many years ago, was this little item from top pollster Scott Rasmussen: For just the second time in more than five years of daily or weekly tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot. A new Rasmussen Reports national | Read More »
Dr. Frankenbama: Death Tax Re-Animator
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | April 2nd at 10:54 AM |
Death and taxes may be inevitable, but they shouldn’t be related. - J.C. Watts, Jr. President Bush’s tax cuts of 2001 and 2003 lowered the death tax from 55 percent to 45 percent this year and would have eliminated them entirely next year. But Dr. Frankenbama’s budget drags the rotting corpse of the death tax from its intended grave by keeping it at its 2009 level next year. The doctor | Read More »
S.P.E.C.T.E.R.
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | February 10th at 01:29 PM |
He did it again. But no Republican should have been surprised. Sen. Arlen Specter has a long history of stabbing his party’s conservatives in the back. Ronald Reagan was one of the first to feel the point of his blade: At the end of his first term, he voted against the Reagan Administration in two bitter, losing battles: to make William Bradford Reynolds associate attorney general, and Jefferson Sessions | Read More »
Sarah Palin endorses Rick Perry for reelection
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | February 3rd at 12:24 AM |
The Texas Republican gubernatorial primary race has just gotten more interesting. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Sarah Palin has endorsed Texas Governor Rick Perry for reelection. According to Wayne Slater, who wrote the Morning News story, Gov. Perry’s campaign is using the Palin endorsement to try to peel away conservative support among women for Sen. Kay Baily Hutchison, Perry’s main opponent in the GOP primary | Read More »
Media Wars: The Bampire Strikes Back
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | January 24th at 09:27 AM |
The newly-minted president took some shots at congressional Republicans Friday. When they expressed their concerns about his stimulus package, he basically told them what they could do to themselves. In not so many words, the messiah/president told them to perform an act which is socially unacceptable and physically impossible. Then Professor Obama proceeded to lecture the rebel scum, advising them that they should stop listening to conservative | Read More »
Things are tough all over

Sam Fox has a Long Island auto dealership which sells Cadillacs, Saabs and Hummers. Let me rephrase that – those are the brands his dealership is authorized to sell. He’s not selling many vehicles these days. You don’t have to try to imagine his frustration because he has let it be known. Mr. Fox has written an op-ed which appears in today’s edition of the | Read More »
Gallup: Republicans Prefer Palin for 2012
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | November 22nd at 11:02 AM |
In a survey of Republicans and political independents who “lean” toward the GOP to determine which prospective candidates they would and would not like to see run for president in 2012, Governor Sarah Palin tops the list of those receiving positive responses. Gallup conducted the poll Nov. 5-16.
Who in the GOP is really targeting Palin?
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | November 15th at 04:27 PM |
In a guest post on The Moderate Voice, Floyd and Mary Beth Brown argue: Those knifing Palin are the old-guard Republicans who don’t want to see her as the nominee in 2012. The old-guard GOP candidates are likely Gov. Haley Barbour or former Gov. Mitt Romney. I disagree. I haven’t seen any compelling evidence that either Gov. Barbour or former Gov. Romney want to take | Read More »
Pawlenty’s Way
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | November 14th at 05:48 PM |
Jack Thompson, commenting on the RGA conference he covered for Human Events, paints a picture of Tim Pawlenty which is not very flattering. He also says the Minnesota governor seemed to be positioning himself not only to lead the “reformer” wing of the party, but to make a run for its 2012 presidential nomination: Pawlenty used his time at yesterday’s roundtable discussion to cast himself | Read More »
With change comes opportunity

The electorate voted for change yesterday. Now we will see what kind of change they will get. We will also see that with change comes opportunity. First, a mea culpa…
The Accomplished Sarah Palin
By: Josh Painter (Diary) | August 31st at 11:08 PM |
Thursday night/Friday morning, on the eve of John McCain’s announcement of who his running mate would be, was an all-nighter for this scribe. I really was tired and sleepy, but I just couldn’t make myself go to bed. Instead I was following this thread of comments on the Draft Sarah Palin For Vice President website. Adam Brickley, who created the site in February of 2007, | Read More »
