DCCC to Republicans: Stop ‘Playing Politics’ with the Troops

Democrats use troops as guise to fund global bailout, then criticize Republicans for 'playing politics' with troops after they voted en bloc against funding a mushroomed, pork-laden appropriations bill

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Friday it will launch a series of district-specific radio ads targeting vulnerable Republicans who voted against President Obama’s controversial war supplemental package.

As a matter of national security in years past Republicans have shown tremendous support for similar measures, however last week they voted en bloc against the $106 billion appropriations bill.

The Democratic Leadership and the DCCC would be content to let the public believe Republicans were “playing politics” with the troops, having voted against the emergency legislation out of pure spite for the president.

Over 100 Republicans voted for the bill when the first iteration—before the $83.5 billion bill mushroomed—reached the floor of the House several weeks ago. But after the Democratic Leadership rewrote the bill to include billions in funding for lawmakers’ pet projects, including an additional $5 billion in funding for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), virtually all Republicans defected, accusing the Democrats of lacing the emergency war-funding bill with billions of extraneous pork barrel spending.

If a global bailout is to be to debated and funded, it surely does not belong in a war appropriations bill. Democrats know this, just like they knew bailout-averse Republicans would, instinctively, vote against any such measure. And then they realized they had the upper-hand, they held the coveted “you’re-playing-politics-with-the-troops” card.

Calculating Democrats put a hold on the appropriations bill as Speaker Nancy Pelosi scrambled to corral enough votes to pass the bill without Republicans and anti-war Democrats. They did, and their disingenuous strategy to score political points—at the cost of our troops’ safety—was set afoot.

Among the Republicans targeted are Congressmen Ken Calvert (CA-44), Charlie Dent (PA-15), Jim Gerlach (PA-06), Dan Lungren (CA-03), Mike McCaul (TX-10), and Lee Terry (NE-02).

As a testament to their lack of due diligence, they also set their sights on a retired U.S. Army National Guard Colonel, Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02).

Military service in Congressman Wilson’s family doesn’t stop there. His oldest son Alan McCrory Wilson, a major in the Army National Guard, spent a year in Iraq. Addison Wilson, Jr., a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, is a lieutenant in the Navy. Wilson’s third son, Julian Dusenbury Wilson, is a captain in the Army National Guard. And his youngest, Hunter Taylor Wilson, is a current student at Clemson University – where he is, fancy that, a member of the Army ROTC and Army National Guard.

Now if there ever were a legislator who would be chiefly concerned with funding the military—thereby ensuring his own family has the resources they need—Congressman Wilson would be that legislator. And if there ever were a party who would be chiefly concerned with scoring political points by jeopardizing the military, the Democratic Party would be it.

Shame on you, Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Chris Van Hollen. House Republicans were prepared to, and indeed did, pass a troop funding bill. Giving the military the resources they needed was not atop your agenda. As details of your strategy have fleshed themselves out, it has become increasingly apparent you were principally concerned with scoring disingenuous political points.

Shame on you, indeed.

It's 100% about total control

civil_truth Saturday, June 27th at 11:59AM EDT (link)

It’s about pure corruption and permanent power. And in pursuit of that, they will destroy 200+ years of governance, shred deliberative process, exploit those who defend our country to destroy it, and when all else fail, send out the brownshirts.

This cap and trade bill totally exposes the duplicity and arrogance of the Democrats, knowing that the press will not call them on it.

It Really Shouldn't Be Very Hard To Turn This One Around on The Dems

In fact, I think they’re stepping ‘in it’ by even trying this tact.

It will now allow the GOP to come back with the World Bank thing - in the middle of an economic crisis, with 10% unemployment, foreign aid is about the *least* popular thing going with the electorate.

If the Dems really want to explain why they just gave away a bunch of money to terrorist governments, on the back of a bill for our troops, while Americans are virtually starving, let ‘em try.

(IIRC, a similar bill helped kill the Dems back in ‘93-’94…)

I fear that the population is to well conditioned to revolt.

When there was a corrupt and clearly rigged election in Iran, of all places, the citizens there went forth into the streets and protested in the tens and hundreds of thousands.
Some of them were beaten severely for their actions.
Some died.
(While our Glorious “Leader” watched, then played 18.)
And THAT was when the ‘choice’ was between two candidates who are not greatly dissimilar.
Yet here, in this country, the House of Representatives ignores the polls, the hundreds of thousands of phone calls, the CLEARLY stated will of the citizens….and passes the most egregious legislation ever.
And on the streets today?
Tens or hundreds of thousands of citizens expressing their outrage at this power grab? This incredible bastardization of the processes that millions have fought and died to preserve?
Nope, a compliant and fully trained population, looking for the local Michael Jackson tribute memorial.
There was more outrage at the way Britain’s Got Talent treated Susan Boyle’s then over how Pelosi and Waxman smirked when they screwed the Nation.
Nikita Khrushchev was absolutely correct, and HE never provided a time line.
He didnt need to.

More like too rich and lazy. nt

Authoritarian regimes censor news from (America) Iran

BEIJING - Out of fear that history might repeat itself, the authoritarian governments of China, Cuba and Burma have been selectively censoring the news this month of Iranian crowds braving government militias on the streets of Tehran to demand democratic reforms.

Soon Obama will be censoring news from Iran - you can’t let freedom spread to America.

It Doesn't Take Many To Stage a Revolt

Some say as few as 5% can precipitate a revolution.

I think the question comes down to - what are people around sites like this going to ultimately do?

‘Cos, you’re right - it mostly won’t come from the unwashed masses.

But the revolutionary must swim in the sea of the peasantry.

Only a fairly small number are needed to really do things that are demonstrative or even more convincing, but those people need great support from the populace, not a majority, but large enough numbers that the government can’t safely marginalize them or suppress them violently. The Ds have already shown us in a much less ideological administration than Comrade Obama’s that they don’t mind killing a few “extremists.” As long as the numbers are small enough that the activists can be credibly characterized as extremists, they’ll just be marginalized, persecuted, and killed if necessary. And if you think I’m being hyperbolic, remember Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Peasants Usually Just Keep Their Heads Down...

…And try and avoid getting shot.

And I’m not in the camp that ever wants to use either Waco and Ruby Ridge as a debating point. What we’re talking about is so far away from those that it’s not even close.

Anyway, we’re not there yet. And, like you, I’d rather let the Obamunists make the first move to truly overreach. They haven’t done enough yet to even galvanize people politically (though they do seem to be getting there pretty quickly). We’ll see if they do anything more than that in the coming months…

Long as the peasants keep their heads completely down,

you’re fine. They have to be unsympathetic enough towards the government that they don’t call the authorities and report you for your Gadsen Flag on your truck with a gunrack.

The only “debating point” I make with Waco and Ruby Ridge is that in both cases, a Democrat administration showed it was willing to kill people who could be characterized as extremists and who didn’t enjoy a lot of popular support.

Maybe the DCCC should talk to their President

bobojake Saturday, June 27th at 2:00PM EDT (link)

about how obama has played politics with our troops and destroyed alot of moral in the troops and their familes.
A photo op to show obama packing care boxes does not heal the wounds obamas adiminstration has caused by words and actions. People all over this Nation are feeling the incompetence that the obamas have brought to the Whitehouse and their disrespect for the United States of America.
Its time for obama and the DCCC to realize they are not GOD.
