Basically, this boils down to this: Everyone else in Congress is a bad actor (“them”), but my Congressperson is a good guy (“one of us”). In other words, the problem is “them” not “us”.

The same kind of mentality that says that what is “necessary spending” in my community is “pork” everywhere else.

…but I still can’t believe that for all the teeth gnashing in the last several months about throwing all the bums out, people a still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes right down to it. So much for change.

In the same manner that (under GOP administrations and congresses) Americans are led to believe that although their family/neighborhood are okay, their fellow Americans are suffering just a few miles away.

Except Americans need to be guilted into believing that “their” Congressman (and Senator) is making fellow Americans suffer. Perhaps a groundswell of letters to the editor (and local T.V. stations news departments) from outside districts pleading our fellow Americans to stop screwing us by enabling this latest generation of congressional dumb(jack)asses.
