FLASH: Ben Nelson opposes Kagan. Red State Dem sanity prevails…what about RINO’s? –OPPOSE KAGAN

See ABC News, “The Note”, Democrat Ben Nelson Opposes Kagan,

“…In a statement released this evening, Sen. Nelson said, “I have heard concerns from Nebraskans regarding Ms. Kagan, and her lack of a judicial record makes it difficult for me to discount the concerns raised by Nebraskans, or to reach a level of comfort that these concerns are unfounded. Therefore, I will not vote to confirm Ms. Kagan’s nomination.”
Nelson is the only Democrat to oppose Kagan at this point. Five Republicans, on the other hand, have said they will support Kagan’s nomination, giving her more than enough votes to win confirmation. A vote is expected in the Senate late next week.
     …
Nelson did note that if a procedural vote is held on Kagan, he will not filibuster, since he believes Kagan deserves an up or down vote. But on the final vote, Nelson is a no.”

Well well. We have a Democrat showing more sanity than “Lindsey Lograham” and other fine feathered RINO’s. (It’s sad that Ben isn’t willing to filibuster, but a no vote is still a no vote.)

Keep punching, and remember the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 if you want to beat Kagan the tough way, i.e., not a filibuster but 51 votes against her. It can still happen, but you have to make it happen.

She has declared for Kagan, 202-224-3121.

At least she didn’t vote for Diclose but she fell for Frank-Dodd. And Collins.

What is with you people in Maine?

have the best health insurance the taxpayers can buy. Plus they need to be chaffeur-driven in armored tanks. No plane trips. Food tasters involved as well.

  • izoneguy

then any Republican supporting her is left of Ben “Cornhusker Kickback” Nelson.

Push hard now to make the dominios fall in Obama’s lap.

  • jurispudens

And if Kagan has her way, we’ll all be forced to buy health insurance to subsidize others anyway…

  • jurispudens

    Thanks for that.

–Yes, to be left of Nelson is a sad, sad thing…

I think he’s toast in 2012 regardless. But at least he gets that he’s on incredibly shaky ground…

Or are their skulls too thick? …

Let’s for a second stipulate that the Democrats are going to loose “Big Time” in 2010, what does that mean to Nelson then?

Tack Right, because his party and his President is in the toilet, probably? Democrats in 2012 who are facing challengers might just have an out of Obama does not pull a Clinton after the losses in the mid-terms, they will turn Right, walking away from Obama or not, I’m betting yes.

I really don’t see anything that Nelson can do to win back the trust of, or re-ingratiate himself with, NE voters after ObamaCare.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet that Nelson is toast – in fact, he may look at his internal polling in 2011 and end up deciding that he won’t even run for re-election.

What happens if R’s take the Senate and House and introduce roll back legislation of ObamaCare?

Nelson throws a wounded Obama under the bus, nothing to loose after all and supports the roll backs. You will see other Democrats sampling the prevailing winds and doing likewise if Democrats loose power. Obama is not Clinton and he won’t tack to the Center, he’s not built that way. Won’t even be surprised if Nelson and others throw a wrench into any efforts to do lame duck damage if the Democrats loose big time.

Nelson is in a cage of his own making, and he can’t get out of it.

    Either:

    1) ObamaCare, with all its disastrous consequences, is implemented, and Nelson gets the lion’s share of the blame.

    Or,

    2) Somehow the Republicans put together enough Democrats (presumably including Nelson) to actually repeal it.

If scenario #2 plays out, the question to those flip-flopping Democrats quickly becomes, “Well then, why the Hell did you support it in the first place?!”

I don’t think any Dem, Nelson included, is going to be able to come up with an acceptable answer to that question.
