Texas Joins the Fight for States’ Rights

Texas is now officially on the States’ Rights bandwagon.  Don’t blame us for being slow; it just took a while to occur to us here in Texas that this could even be a issue!

State Rep Brandon Creighton has sponsored HCR 50, calling for the Federal Government to “cease and desist”  any and all mandates “beyond the scope of … constitutionally designated powers.”  Don’t just Remember the Alamo; Remember the 10th Amendment!

Governor Rick Perry has joined the resolution:

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

In spirit, at least. I’m not a Texan, but I sure wish I were. That Lone Star is shining bright!

We weren't slow

as HCR 50 was introduced in the Texas Legislature in February. It is currently in committee as is HCR 66, which says the same thing. But I am glad Slick Rick is getting some media coverage for this.

I am hoping Texas is just the first

even states that have Democrat governors should offer a bill. In this case I am thinking of Virginia. This would be a great way for the assembly to embarrass the horrible carpet bagger Tim Kaine he pretended to be moderate on the heels of Mark Warner.

We all need to push our legilators and governors to follow the right path led by the Texans!

Molon Labe!

Even though I am stuck in the echo chamber (DC), I still love my state.

Gov. Perry has certainly been talking a lot lately. I’ve seen him on national tv more in the last month than I have in the last 8 years. I don’t think it is the challenge from Sen. Hutchinson for governship. I think we might see a trading of positions. She runs for governor, he goes for her senate seat. He’s going for the national stage to fix this mess.

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.
