If you are just joining me in this rabbit hole without reading my Stage 1 postfor background, you might want to hop out and do that first. There’s some background in that one which this post is built upon. That ended with bill to give the Secretary of the Interior the ability to decide which tribe becomes federally recognized, thus enabling him to take land into trust for those tribes. What you need to know is there is a huge push by the green movement to expand on reservations.
Van Jones, our former Green Jobs Czar addressed this in his infamous speech. Carl Pope, Executive Directer of the Sierra Club wrote an opinion piece on clean energy jobs in the Bimidji Pioneer, a newspaper in a town in northern MN just miles away from the Leech Lake Reservation.
The Senate must fight back against these old polluting industries and tell them it’s time to pay their fair share.
More redistribution of wealth can be found from Earthjustice, Indigenous Environmental Network, Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy and the Sierra Club who are all working together on environmental activities in various Midwest states. At a D.C. conference “Good Jobs, Green Jobs” in Feb 2009 sponsored by the Blue-Green Alliance, Winona Duke spoke on this as well.
(For a picture of Van Jones with Winona Duke, a leading American Indian environmental activist, click here)
Winona Duke of Honor the Earth told of her Ojibwa people’s 2000 year old prophecy for today: two paths lie before us. One is well worn but scorched; the other new & green. Indians want apprenticeships & training to tap the wind power potential of reservations, America’s windiest places, as 25% of all U.S. power could come from Indian lands.
This conference was a mix of
about 2,700 labor, environmental, agency, community, and faith-based advocates with the intent on working together to urgently push forward the new green economy to not only save the plant but also the people. The conference was organized by the Blue-Green Alliance, of which the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club are founding members.
The problem with all this is, as we have seen in Spain, green jobs actually hurt communities and lower jobs. The American Indian leadership is being taken over by people who will move the Indian Nation into socialism. Complete dependence on the State. The very ones who are saying they will help them are going to shackle them even tighter unless they can break free. The Indian Nation must return to the wisdom of their ancient forefathers and fight against a federal government who would take the remaining freedoms they have. They need a return to the spirit and wisdom of ages. There is a hand held out to them in hope but the other hand is hidden and is holding ropes and chains.
And there is the possibility for a Stage 3 as well.

SO Greens Have Been Arguing We Need To Reduce Our Dependence ON Foreign Oil...
rcov092 Wednesday, November 11th at 3:11PM EST (link)and their strategy is to make us dependent on non-foreign, but decidedly separate nations? WTH?
When will everyone get clear that the Green Movement is only about making America dark, impotent ….and non-existent.

ceili_dancer Wednesday, November 11th at 3:40PM EST (link)Tomato party, Green today, red tomorrow. Same sentiment though. They have nothing to bring to the table. The most effective campaign for cleaning things up was the crying indian back in the 70’s. But, it was about cleaning up your “yard”, not going back to the stone age while everyone else (China, India, Brazill,…) get to do everything they want.
American Indians have been used and abused by the government
Scope Wednesday, November 11th at 3:32PM EST (link)for a long time. I remember seeing a show about the utter poverty some on reservations live with. The particular reservation on the show dependd on the Federal Government for their medical needs and services. They were only given enough money to keep the clinic open for about 6 months out of the year before they ran out of money, medicines, supplies and etc. I guess rationed healthcare actually started long ago on Indian Reservations. Yet the Indians have not learned that all the government wants is to take over their land. As to the windfarms on their lands, they could get a good deal on over 600 windmills from T Boone Pickens, who already found out that they don’t generate enough electricity to warrant the project costs.
The Problem Is They Have become Astute Politically...
rcov092 Wednesday, November 11th at 4:02PM EST (link)now have plenty of unfettered cash from casinos and a 250 year old chip on their shoulder (not entirely of their own making). Abramoff taught them well how the corruption of DC coupled with boatloads of cash can benefit you if you are willing to spread it around.
The other side of that is that Abramoff taught the Dem’s well what benefits could be derived from selling your soul to interests with boatloads of cash to spread around. The lefties also learned that lesson and are lining up Abramoffs old constituencies to reap the harvest to be had.

Unfortunately, they have an entitlement complex

Most of the more activist Indian groups are full-tilt left wingers.
Achance Wednesday, November 11th at 7:46PM EST (link)This is another one of those places that the refugees from the failed revolution of the ’60s have hung out since then, getting fat and rich on federal grants and contracts. I spent three years as a honky dog working for the BIA trying to find $58 Million dollars they’d left lying around in rural Alaska. Made me start thinking the kind of thoughts I’d worked hard to stop thinking when I was growing up in Georgia.

I live in MN a few miles from a huge tribal casino
Common_Cents Wednesday, November 11th at 8:06PM EST (link)You can’t print money faster than they can make it. They just put up one huge windmill in a suburban residential area. No way you’d get zoning like that any other way.
And they have these 3 HUGE BRIGHT lights in the sky. How the heck they pulled that off I have no idea. It is nearby an a regional airport is also near a pattern for the main MSP airport. It is total sky pollution. It would have to blind a pilot if they ever flew near it. You look up into the sky at night and you see these huge beams of light. Disgusting.
Then they use up all their land for casinos and give some sob story to the county for more land for schools/housing etc… about putting a few hundred more acres of land they bought OFF the tax rolls. Of course they are free to buy land adjacent and pay taxes but that isn’t good enough. They lobby to get it off the tax rolls.
In return they donate money to help build roads, Umm the roads that they alone congest with casino traffic. Roads that wouldn’t need much upgrading if there were no casino. Obviously to make it easier for you to drive there and give them your money. Then they brag about how much they help out with the roads.
I doubt there is any gambling regulation either. I can imagine they have all their gaming machines computer controlled and can turn up the dial any time they want, especially w/ people using loyalty cards.
Me, I never have gambled there, only make them lose money on me on the fresh seafood buffet night once in awhile.

A cult of personality arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.[1] Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.
That windmill was built to power the activists building next door.
Karina Thursday, November 12th at 3:15AM EST (link)It’s Winona Duke’s group and only generates enough power for her building. Nice, huh? All that money spent and it’s not going to the people but the activists.
