The “reality based community” strikes again

1000 words and all that

As I experience my worst college football season in my lifetime – Michigan fan living in Columbus, Ohio – and the economy heads toward whatever it is heading toward, I thought I would offer a little comic relief. The picture below was take in the parking lot of a local grocery store.

Both awareness of self and awareness of actual facts, rather than feelings, is a pre-requisite to being a Republican as well.

Of course, maybe the guy was just thinking that it would be “ironic.” Probably some trust-funder who felt guilty about inheriting daddy’s dealership.

I am to SMART to be a Democrat!

    • RedFox84

Not even going to point it out…

      • Moe_Lane

Although if it was intentional, it instantly becomes pretty funny. :)

Tried to play Ben-Hur with it, but it drove onto a Whole Foods parking lot!

Maybe we’ll see it on some “Best of the Blogosphere” feature soon.

So does driving a BMW constitute poor?

    • reldim

Maybe the poor thing spent all her money buying the car.

  • Canthros

Although, if we Republicans are all supposed to be driving $80+K cars, I would love to know what I’m doing wrong.

If you settled for the tattoo, you only get the time share for the volcano lair. They should explain that in the pamphlet, but they don’t.

  • Downforce

I hate it when they figure us out! Time to redo the template!

    • oldmom

I also am two smart to be a democrat. ;-)

      • blooch

        we’d all be driving $80+ K-Cars.

Somebody should have told my checkbook. Last time I saw it, I was hoping that I could, you know, feed my family and pay rent and things like that. I’m not rich, but I’m not stupid either!

When I was in Columbus and at Ohio State around 1990 I once saw a bumper sticker on a BMW, but it said “there’s no government like no government”. I loved it. Had it been on a VW Bus I wouldn’t have but the fact it was on a BMW gave it special meaning.

BMW drivers in Columbus have obviously gone down hill in since then.

Not to defend the “poor” BMW driver pictured, but on the other hand…

We just bought an ’05 BMW X5 and I paid LESS for it (used of course) than I paid for my 2000 Yukon (new) in April of 2000. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another new vehicle again.

So the point is, BMW drivers aren’t necessarily rich. Ok, let me rephrase that. I drive a BMW, and I’m sure as hell not rich.

We just bought a 02 330i. Actually, it was very cost effective. BMW does not tier credit so those of us that squeak past on credit get the same rates as someone with a 850 score. (very low compared to others)

As to the one pictured, that is a fairly new one, I think they went to that body style around 06, so they still paid a lot of $ for it.

But I’m also slow in grammar. Oldmom, forgive us. Our public school teachers in English were not that good either.

I wonder if I can trade it and the digital camera in…

          • Raven

Have more money than this driver of a new Civic…

As an Appalachian State University alum, I would like to say that I?m proud of supporting two losses you will suffer in this life:

    34-32

    President Obama

my 96 year-old grandfather thinks we’re in another Great Depression; you can’t tell him anything different even when you point to his Cadillac in the garage.

My decoder ring must be busted, because I haven’t noticed any of that in my missives from the VRWC.
