Rob Portman US Senate Campaign Update

Portman focused on jobs and getting Washington out of the way.

I had the chance to stop by the new campaign headquarters of Rob Portman today as they kick their US Senate campaign into full gear in 2010.

Portman was kind enough to take a moment to give me an update which I captured with my handy-dandy Flip Video camera.

Rasmussen in early December reported the following:

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state shows Portman now leading Brunner 40% to 33% after holding a two-point advantage in September. Just seven percent (7%) would choose another candidate, but 20% are undecided at this point.

Portman continues to run nearly even with Fisher 38% to 36%. In their match-up, 18% of Ohio voters are undecided, while another eight percent (8%) prefer another candidate. The two were virtually tied in September as well, with Portman just ahead 41% to 40%.

    and Brunner’s stunt with the voting fiasco down at Vet’s Memorial in ’08 left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths. I hope they remember it when they see her name on a ballot.

      They blew it big time: total control for 8 years and they acted like Democrats: NOT cutting taxes, keeping the status quo while the state slowly went downhill, and then the Taft scandal.

      Kasich and Portman and Steve Stivers for Congress would be a big plus.

      And talk about disappointing: Voinovich! What happened with him? Raised to the level of his incompetence after doing so well in Cleveland?

        OH GOP are mostly big goverment Republicans. (DeWine, Voinovich, Taft, even Boehner voted for TARP) DeWine’s son was put in charge of the state party. Just remember that Portman was Director of the OMB during the time that the Republicans acted like Democrats. He enabled and encouraged the spending. Any budget/finance professional who cannot balance a budget is either incompetent or not a leader willing to make tough decisions.

        I will never vote for him.

        Your local Ohio county GOP might also be interested in helping registered Republicans become precinct committeemen; then again, maybe not.

          from today’s paper discussing problems among local GOP leaders:

          http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20100108/NEWS0108/1090331/1055/NEWS/In+Anderson++it+s+GOP+vs.+GOP

          Look at the bottom of the second section titled ‘We Don’t Need Rebels’. The local GOP is hesitantly reaching out to the outside groups because they are afraid of being run over.

    I have volunteered for Portman…I have to say, this is a MUST win. With Sherrod Brown as our other useless Senator, Portman would be the type of fiscal conservative we need. Things look good now…but we have to keep fighting the good fight.

    If John Kasich continues to do well and can win the Governorship, this will help a lot. Kasich is a great man and would be a great addition to Republican leaders.
