John Kasich: Thanks Redstate for what you do

If you talk to the editors about being associated with Redstate one of the first things they will tell you is how cool it is to hear how popular the site is with politicians, activists and grassroots folks all around the country. It means a lot when you meet someone and they say: “Oh, I love Redstate – read it everyday.”

Well, it just so happens that one of the people who is a fan of the site is running for Governor of Ohio. I have had a number of interactions with the Kasich campaign and they have always been helpful and have frequently indicated that they are big fans of RS. And in case I doubted it, John Kasich himself took time out from his busy schedule to record a short video thanking all of you for the work you do.

I think that is pretty cool.

And I don’t have to tell you that Ohio is a critical state or how big it would be to win this race. Governor Strickland and his cronies in the labor unions and other liberal interest groups is going to have a lot of money and ground troops come November. We have to match that firepower.

and along with Rob Portman for Senate, should also help sweep a significant number of US House districts back to the red. Strickland has been a huge disappointment after winning office in 2006 basically only because former GOP governor Bob Taft was so horrible. (Even Republicans couldn’t stand him.)

He has done nothing to stop the bleeding of businesses leaving the state because of high taxes and regulations, and people are going to throw him out.

Time for a new day with John Kasich as Ohio governor!

He sees to be a reasonable person. I hope he wins. His coattails should be long enough to help others.

… at least based on what I’ve seen of him on television as a congressman and commentator. He has a definite “everyman” appeal that plays very well right now.

Many blessings, and best of luck to you, John.

I’ve had my eye on Kasich since he left the House as a possible candidate for a much higher national office. A successful run for governor, then a strong showing as governor, would obviously be a good next step. I’m confident that we have a real option here for an exceptional chief executive at multiple levels…

but not for 2012. I’d be surprised if he entered that race after only a year as governor. Then, hopefully we wont be looking for a candidate in 2016. But even in 2020, he will not be an old man.

The only hangup that many Ohio conservatives have is his support of Clintons assault weapons ban while he was in Congress. Ohio was one of the last states to allow concealed carry, and former GOP governor Bob Taft actually vetoed the bill, after he had promised to sign it. Fortunately, there was enough support in the legislature and his veto was overridden, but with poison pills added to the bill that we are still working on eliminating today, 6 years later.

Ohio Democrats have actually been friendlier to Ohio gun owners than the GOP (see RINO former Senator Mike DeWine.) Kasich has largely avoided directly answering 2nd amendment related questions during his campaign, making gun owners wonder if they’re going to get the same treatment again.

However, except for the hardest core one-issue voters, this will not hurt Kasich. I am a CCW license holder, and still strongly support him, as do most others I know. It certainly hasn’t hurt him in the primary race, as his name recognition, popularity, and bone fide credentials on other conservative issues are unmatched.

He has been, is now, and I believe alsways will be a strong courageous conservative who will stand up and fight.

My best to the Kasich campaign and I will be donating.

I have missed John Kasich. I supported him when he ran for President. We would be much better off if he had won. Ohio is my native state, but I no longer live there, but am contacting all my relatives there to support John. He is just fantastic. Pray for another miracle like we had with Scott Brown, though John Kasich is a real conservative.

John Kasich will send “Taxin Ted” Strickland to his Tee Shirt Stand in FLA and Ohioans cant wait !

John Kasich would make a darn good president and is the only politician that I like as much as Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint. I wish there were more men like John Kasich in Politics. Kasich did great work on the budget with another legend Pete Domenici. He is that Great Blue Collar Conservative that we need more of in the Northeast and Midwest. Kasich connects with Blue Collar America, he because he has solutions and is a persuasive Reagan conservative with Blue Collar roots. There will be a lot of Kasich Democrats in Ohio and Ted Strickland is going lose, because Kasich is that good.

    Course, I’m easy. :)
