Why Is Drudge Linking To Alex Jones’s “Info Wars” Site?

As I normally do on a daily basis I visited the Drudge Report. On the left hand column there are three links regarding Texas Governor Rick Perry.

The first link is this: National Journal: Perry Road Tests Stump Speech
The second link is this: NBC NEWS:Perry: Stand Up and Stop Apolgizing
The third link? Infowars.com.: Bilderberg Approved Perry Set To Become GOP Frontrunner

This is apparently not the first time Drudge has linked to that charlatan Alex Jones, but this piece is absolutely ridiculous. Drudge loses credibility by linking such crap on his site.

First there’s the title. Rick Perry if he gets in will be formidable, but does anyone really think he becomes the automatic front runner? He’s well known with conservatives and in Texas, but relatively unknown to most Americans. Most polls that include Perry have him in single digits.

The lead paragraph:

“Every indication suggests that Bilderberg-approved Texas Governor Rick Perry is set to become the front runner in the Republican race to challenge Barack Obama for the presidency, illustrating once again how a shady, secretive and undemocratic global elite holds the reigns of true power while Americans are distracted by the delusional notion that they have a genuine choice in 2012.”

Isn’t it great to know that the world’s most trafficked website (?) is perpetuating Alex Jones’s absurdities that our Republic is a sham?

There’s more:

“Texas Governor Perry, a protégé of Karl Rove, is very good at acting like a down-home populist, but that’s all it is – an act. Perry is George W. Bush 2.0.”

I may not be an expert on Texas politics but I have a clear impression that the Perry’s and the Bush’s don’t care for each other. Have we ever heard Karl Rove’s name mentioned in connection with Perry’s tenure as Lt. Governor and now Governor? In point of fact, Karl Rove actively supported Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison in her primary effort to defeat Rick Perry’s bid for a third term just last year. Perry crushed her and Rove and his Bush supporters went down to ignominious defeat at the hands of Perry in the GOP primary. I’m quite certain G.W., Rove and Senator Hutchison (who’s retiring) would not categorize Perry as Bush 2.0.

The rest of the article goes on with Jones’s usual conspiracy nonsense even suggesting that Perry’s participation in an Istanbul conference violated the “Logan Act”.

Oh and of course the conspiracy to nominate Rick Perry is to stop Ron Paul’s momentum.

Matt Drudge does yeoman’s work sifting through items for our perusal, but someone needs to call him on this crap. It’s embarrassing to intelligent and thoughtful discourse. What a waste.

Obama, the Clintons and numerous other politicians attend.

Those most fearful of a Rick Perry run are Ron Paul and Obama.

Once you get Rick on the same stage as Romney – Rick will tear him up.

  • The_Gadfly

I read them as “can you believe there are people who believe this crap?” articles.

  • harpsichord

He links stuff just for the sake of oddity, irony and contrast. Doesn’t bother me none.

Either he is trying too hard to shock the timid, or he has gotten too big for his britches and has begun thinking that a story becomes legitimate the second he vouches for it.

I just have to make sure I’m not drinking coffee at the same time… my laptop objects vociferously to be spat on…

Is there an editor at Drudge with some sort of agenda against Rick Perry?

Obviously somebody at Drudge wondered about its presence: perhaps they read our bewildered musings here at RedState yesterday, and decided it was a bad idea.

To be fair, it is possible the person listing the link did not know the nature of the website, but of course they should have checked.

In any case, Rick Perry seems to be a top candidate with no baggage, and the idea of a Perry/Bachmann ticket enthuses me! :)

    credibility when he cites infowars.

and his supporters are all on the same page. If you read the comments sections of most any article about any of the other candidates, it is filled with every piece of trash and garbage anyone can come up with against that candidate. It is getting harder and harder to determine if most of those posts are from liberals, or Ron Paul supporters. When they bring up the Bilderberger garbage, I always assume it is a Paul supporter posting.

Most of the Paulies aren’t even trying to post glowing facts about Paul or his accomplishments (there aren’t any), they are following their idol’s lead in trashing anyone they think can overtake their guy. Ron Paul was the first one I heard trying to tie Perry to Bush on a TV interview. Now the rest of the leftist media is following his lead. No question Perry will step on Paul like he is an ant. Perry has to be Paul’s biggest nightmare.

In national polling of the GOP field, for whatever it’s worth, Ron Paul was coming in higher with the left leaning pollsters. Since the first debate, even with the lefties, he is losing ground. That is causing his supporters to dive deeper into the dumpsters.

in real life, paulbots are anti social and afraid of authority. so they tend to be ”9-11 truthers” and people who think the government has black helicopters waiting outside their window spying on them. they are more likely to be found at a code pink rally or living in their parents basement and spamming presidential internet polls than they are to be found doing anything constructive for the conservative movement,

and when ron paul ran in the republican presidential primary in 2008 he only won 5% of the vote. so the reality is 19 out of 20 republican primary voters had the sense not to vote for this loser. and i fully expect voters in the 2012 presidential primaries to once again reject him and his nutty agenda.

He is not anti-Perry or pro-Infowars.

Drudge is linking to a “hot rumor” just as he always has.

I still wake up in the morning and think, “Has the World ended?” Probably not, but I better check Drudge to make sure

  • hotspur

to other conservative sites and I find it highly disturbing. Someone needs to tell Drudge that he is risking his reputation by linking to Jones.

  • hotspur

Guess who one the poll? Ron Paul at 56%. This just goes to show how utterly corrupt and low the Paulites really are, rigging any poll they can get their hands on.

  • mikeymike143

hotspur, there is a better chance of the new england patriots benching tom brady and asking me to be their starting quarterback than there is of ron paul winning the republican presidential nomination. and don’t even get me started on the issue of those deranged paulbots. 56%. LOL

Do any of you know about UN’s Agenda 21? Are you aware that the TTC is a centerpiece of the globalist Agenda 21 and the North American Union? Why would Perry support such legislation, especially when so many oppose it, if he did not support the globalist agenda?

In my opinion, Drudge has near infinite credibility, and questioning his credibility just because you are a Perry fan and don’t like the InfoWars article, actually weakens your credibility.

It is not reasonable to say that Perry is relatively unknown to most Americans. He is the high profile, long running Governor of Texas, and often makes national headlines. He is on several conservative talks shows, including Rush.

Rather than simply lambasting Drudge and Infowars, why not refute the claims with “intelligent and thoughtful discourse” and facts?

Why does Perry champion the TTC?
Why does Perry champion untested gardicil vaccines that kill little girls?
How can any self-respecting “conservative” ever have supported Al Gore?
How could anyone with true conservative principles ever have been a democrat?
Why did Perry attend the Bildeberg meeting?
Why did he stall the TSA bill until he had no choice to add it to the SS agenda?
Why did he makes excuses and lie about the reasons for not adding said bill to the agenda? ht tp://ww w.youtube.com/watch?v=_NoUIFdaNC8
Please explain any number of the following 14 reasons Perry would make a really bad president: ht tp://endofth eamericandream.com/archives/14-reasons-why-rick-perry-would-be-a-really-really-bad-president

The TransTexas Corridor, a highway that would run along I-35, from the Oklahoma state line to the Mexican border was originally George Bush’s plan.
