Well – Obama said that we are not a Christian nation and that we would be the world’s 9th largest Muslim nation. So why wouldn’t  Muslims act like it is a Muslim nation? Kill non-Muslims and protest their funerals.

A Remembrance rally was held yesterday for the soldiers who were gunned down Monday by a Muslim. Here is a first person account:

Secure Arkansas organized a rally in remembrance of the first terrorist attack since 9/11. Pvt. William Long was killed and Pvt. Quinton I. Ezeagwula was wounded by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad). Channel 11 was the only TV crew out there with a camera, and the AR Dem Gazette sent a reporter and a photographer. The event had several speakers who did a wonderful job. Video footage of them will be uploaded soon. However, the most shocking part of the event was when a muslim fanatic crashed the event. The fanatic drove by and yelled at us, then parked in the parking lot and stood out with a homemade sign yelling anti-American and later anti-Semetic comments. Had this been a ceremony for Tiller, this would have been the top story for both local and national media. Since it isn’t a top story, it’s up to you to send this to as many people as possible. The hijab-clad fanatic in the video is vile. This is a memorial to a dead soldier and she is screaming “Jesus was Muslim” and talking about the religious freedom in Egypt. “Christian churches and Catholics in Egypt practice freely”.”Jesus is not G-d’s son!” “Jews are liars!” Obamanation.

North Korea has for decades been the most isolated country on the planet, with almost no links to the outside world. The Internet can be accessed only by the most powerful and well-connected in Pyongyang, while ordinary North Koreans aren’t allowed to possess mobile phones.

Which is why the discovery Monday that the North Korean government has a Twitter page caused a stir in the world known as the Twitterverse.

“First they got nukes. Next level: Twitter account” tweeted Mikaël Hardy, a French engineer living in the Chinese city of Shenzhen and one of the first to discover that Mr. Kim’s regime had gone online using the account kcna_dprk.

Word spread fast. Within hours, more than 300 people were “following” the North Korean Twitterer, including this reporter. To my surprise, the kcna_dprk immediately returned the compliment and deigned to follow my postings as well.

The Pyongyang Twitterer’s bio reads “News from Korean Central News Agency of DPRK,” referring to the news service that has long been the official voice of the regime (the country’s official name is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea). All of its 467 updates since going online in April have been English versions of the agency’s news reports.

Mysteriously, another Twitter page (koreadpr) claims to be the Twitter page of Mr. Kim himself, who has bragged in the past of his Internet knowledge and once asked U.S. secretary of state Madeleine Albright for her e-mail address. However, it sits empty other than an image of North Korea’s official state emblem and a link to the government’s website.

Who knows if the Twitter account is for real. And why would Kim Jong-il need a Twitter account anyway? He has MSNBC, CNN, The New York Times, The United Nations, ABC, CBS et al to do that kind of work for him.

Then again he could just be jealous of all of the Che posters used by Obama campaign supporters and he just wants to be cool too.

If Che can make it onto the walls of Obama’s campaign headquarters in Houston and a judge’s office in Ohio then just imagine how cool leftists would be if they had a Twitter feed from The Dear Leader! So shave off those goatees, take off the cause bracelets and leave the Che t-shirts at home. kcna_dprk’s tweets will be all the rage in the faculty lounges from now on.

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani didn’t blink today when a surly passer-by threatened to knock his lights out as Rudy strolled with wife Judi in the Hamptons, challenging the wacko to “do it!”

A “slim, well-dressed man” came charging out of nowhere and began ranting at the happy couple as they left an arts fair in Bridgehampton at 1:30 p.m., according to patrons sitting outside the nearby Golden Pear bakery on Main Street.

“I’m gonna punch your lights out,” the suspect — identified as John McCluskey, 69 — repeatedly yelled at Giuliani, startling Judi, the witnesses said.

This takes place just one week after some Code Pink protestors jumped in the face of Donald Rumsfeld and his wife outside the Washington Correspondents dinner. Story here. Not surprising though. They join Ann Coulter, Bill Kristol, Thomas Friedman, and the Minuteman Project directors as those attacked in public.

Communist dictator in waiting Hugo Chavez is preparing to shut down the last TV station that opposes his rule. Full story here. The Venezuelan government claims that the station incites “panic and anxiety” by criticizing the government.

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) – When Venezuelans tune to Globovision, they see protests against faulty public services or a talk show guest saying Hugo Chavez could be executed by his opponents, just like Italian dictator Benito Mussolini.

Now Chavez seems to be gearing up for a final showdown with Globovision, Venezuela’s only remaining opposition television station on the open airwaves.

Broadcast regulators are investigating the all-news channel for inciting “panic and anxiety” during a minor earthquake when it criticized the government for slow response.

“We’ve been subject to dozens of investigations, but this one is undoubtedly the most absurd,” said station director Alberto Federico Ravell, a bespectacled, tough-talking man who relishes poking fun at the president.

Chavez has called Ravell “a crazy man with a cannon.”

“There is a crazy man with a cannon in Venezuela, but it’s not me,” Ravell quipped in response.

This comes just one week after Great Britain banned radio host Michael Savage for making statements that their leftist government doesn’t like:

“…considered to be engaging in unacceptable behavior by seeking to provoke others to serious criminal acts and fostering hatred which might lead to inter-community violence.”

Michael Savage has since filed a compliant in England over this issue declaring that:

“The allegations in the Press Release constitute serious and damaging allegations which are actionable under English law,” declares the complaint from Olswang LLP, a leading London firm.

Are these two moves just more of the international left using their government power to squash free speech? Is this more “Shut Up” on a small scale or something else? It is odd that similar moves are being made to silence opposing speech by media outlets in the same week.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Former Republican presidential hopeful Alan Keyes, a Roman Catholic priest and 19 others were arrested Friday after marching onto the University of Notre Dame campus to protest President Barack Obama’s planned commencement speech.

The arrests marked the third straight Friday that protesters have been detained. They are angry about the school’s decision to give Obama, who supports abortion rights and embryonic stem-cell research, an honorary degree and have him speak at Sunday’s commencement.

“Notre Dame is arresting a priest,” the Rev. Norman Weslin, founder of the Lambs of Christ abortion protest group, said as Notre Dame security personnel put plastic restraints on his wrists Friday. “Why are you arresting a priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? You’ve got it all backward.”

SOUTH BEND — Norma McCorvey, a primary figure in the controversial court case Roe v. Wade, threw her support Friday behind those protesting President Barack Obama’s invitation to speak at Notre Dame.
In what was advertised as a speech but quickly turned into a Q&A between McCorvey and anti-abortion activist Randall Terry, the former pro-choice advocate, a woman of few words, wasted not a one, delivering caustic one-liners to a crowd of several dozen pro-life activists gathered at the State Theatre in downtown South Bend.
Asked her opinion of The Most Rev. John D’Arcy, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, she said he needed to “get up off his behind and do something” to prevent Obama from speaking at Sunday’s commencement.

And of Obama’s travel plans, “I hope he runs out of jet fuel,” she said.
McCorvey said she could not understand “why a Catholic school would call and ask Mr. Obama to speak at commencement exercises. I just can’t fathom that.”

It appears that Norma is going all in as well on this one. Good for her:

The 61-year-old said she plans to protest on campus today and get arrested.
McCorvey was the plaintiff “Jane Roe” in Roe v. Wade, the controversial 1973 Supreme Court case that legalized abortion nationwide. At the time she was in her early 20s and pregnant with her third child.
For many years following the court decision, she continued to fight for abortion rights, but switched sides and joined the pro-life movement in the mid-1990s after converting to Christianity and then Catholicism.

She will be joining pro-life groups protesting Barack Obama’s speech on Sunday.

So the White House just figured out that their planned release of more photos would “inflame anti-American opinion” and would “impact the safety of our troops.” Thank you captain obvious. Comments and story via HotAir here.

He’s not saying that’s the only consideration; how could he, knowing it would set a precedent for concealing any evidence of malfeasance in the name of national security? Rather, he emphasizes that the investigations are closed and that the Pentagon’s not trying to justify or otherwise hide what happened — which seems to me an obvious attempt to distinguish this case from the release of the torture memos, where some are trying to justify the tactics involved. Note, incidentally, his insistence that the photos are “not sensational,” which seems a curious counterpoint to his worry that they’ll rile up jihadists. If he loses the court battle and the photos come out and they’re really bad, he’ll have a lot of explaining to do about his characterization of them here.

Long before the current financial crisis, nearly two years ago, a little-noticed cloud darkened the horizon for the US government. It was ignored. But now that shadow, in the form of a warning from a top credit rating agency that the nation risked losing its triple A rating if it did not start putting its finances in order, is coming back to haunt us.

That warning from Moody’s focused on the exploding healthcare and Social Security costs that threaten to engulf the federal government in debt over coming decades. The facts show we’re in even worse shape now, and there are signs that confidence in America’s ability to control its finances is eroding.

Prices have risen on credit default insurance on US government bonds, meaning it costs investors more to protect their investment in Treasury bonds against default than before the crisis hit. It even, briefly, cost more to buy protection on US government debt than on debt issued by McDonald’s. Another warning sign has come from across the Pacific, where the Chinese premier and the head of the People’s Bank of China have expressed concern about America’s longer-term credit worthiness and the value of the dollar.

Wow – who could have EVER guessed that creating a $1.8 TRILLION dollar deficit might cause a loss of our AAA credit rating? I mean with the Obama White House filled to the brim with college professors and lawyers I’m sure that they thought this out already. You know – all of that smart power. Of course you would have to believe in capitalism and free markets to pick up on that potential credit rating problem.

Question – If China refuses to lend us money because they think we are a credit risk will it be considered “Red Lining”? Not to worry. If that’s the case they will be sued by Obama and protested by ACORN. Maybe Barney Frank and Chris Dodd can drive up to the United Nations and demand that they write some laws that force China to lend us money.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration has begun serious talks about how it can change compensation practices across the financial-services industry, including at companies that did not receive federal bailout money, according to people familiar with the matter.

The initiative, which is in its early stages, is part of an ambitious and likely controversial effort to broadly address the way financial companies pay employees and executives, including an attempt to more closely align pay with long-term performance.

Administration and regulatory officials are looking at various options, including using the Federal Reserve’s supervisory powers, the power of the Securities and Exchange Commission and moral suasion. Officials are also looking at what could be done legislatively.

Among ideas being discussed are Fed rules that would curb banks’ ability to pay employees in a way that would threaten the “safety and soundness” of the bank — such as paying loan officers for the volume of business they do, not the quality. The administration is also discussing issuing “best practices” to guide firms in structuring pay.

Just remember. If the socialists can convince everyone that they can control pay limits of top executives or mid level employees then the next thing they will go after is control over the minimum level of salaries offered to everyone else. Hint – that means that voting against the guy in office could mean a vote against how much you, the average private sector employee, is paid for your work.

I hate to say that we told you so but we did. Barack Obama seeks socialist oversight of executive pay – including companies that did not take or need bailouts. Next up – the health care industry. Cutting costs by cutting salaries. Because just like the financial sector it’s about quality and not quantity. Quality – you know that thing that federal bureaucracies know so much about.

The Obama White House has been celebrated in the press for its expensive cocktail parties.  Jake Tapper of ABC News reported on the menu at one of the parties in January: 

Hors d’oeuvres — chicken curry, wagyu steak — will be served in addition to drinks.

Wagyu Steak is a wonderful delicacy for those who can afford the price. It comes in at about $100 per pound. But hey – what’s $100/lb steak when you’re running a $1.8 Trillion dollar budget deficit right?

Things do start to add up though so in tough times some real leaders always emerge to make the tough choices. Cut out the $100/lb steak at White House cocktail parties? Of course not! That will just not do at all. Now just where can the new Camelot find a place to save money? Hmm…..Oh wait! The military recruiting budget can use some cuts. Now that’s Smart Power in action.

The Washington Post reports that the Obama administration has proposed an 11% cut in the Pentagon’s recruitment budget. Wait -aren’t we at war? And with no draft it’s up to the Pentagon to recruit a volunteer army and doesn’t that take money? You would think that logic dictates a solid recruiting budget. But Barack Obama sees it otherwise. The Post reports:

…the Obama administration is proposing to cut the Defense Department’s budget for recruiting by nearly $800 million, or 11 percent, for 2010.

The proposed budget would reverse years of increased spending aimed at bolstering military forces strained by six years of combat in Iraq and nearly eight in Afghanistan

To meet the cuts, the White House said, the military services would have to cap recruiting and retention programs at 2009 levels, lower enlistment and reenlistment bonuses, reduce the advertising budget, and cut the number of recruiters.

Now I’m not suggesting that cutting out Wagyu Steak Hors d’oeuvres will save $800 million. On the other hand what kind of commander engages in such largesse while cutting a recruitment budget in a time of war? Obama managed to allocate $900 million from the budget to go to the Palestinian leadership (Hamas). Now that might have been a good place to start saving money. But I digress.

To be fair the Washington Post does point out that military recruiting gets better during economic downturns.

Pentagon officials, while acknowledging that weak economic conditions and the dire job market have made it easier to meet recruiting quotas

But when was the last time we were at war during an economic downturn?1969 during Vietnam? That was forty years ago. But wait – we had a draft then so just how did anyone put together easy recruiting without a draft during a recession?

It will be interesting to see what happens after these cutbacks hit. Will it slow down recruiting? If so will Obama opt to reduce the forces deployed or will Congress push for a draft? Only time will tell. Until then the Washington Press Corps will enjoy some greats meals. As will Hamas on $900 million in U.S. tax dollars. Our soldiers though must learn to achieve will less.
