Song of the Day

It's a Dead Man's Party

Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby submit the Song of the Day for Monday, September 15, 2008 is…

“Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo
(originally The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo)

From Boingo at the Ritz, 1985:

CHORUS
I was struck by lighting
Walkin’ down the street
I was hit by something last night in my sleep
It’s a dead man’s party
Who could ask for more
Everybody’s comin’, leave your body at the door
Leave your body and soul at the door . . .
(Don’t run away it’s only me)

All dressed up with nowhere to go
Walkin’ with a dead man
Waitin’ for an invitation to arrive
With a dead man . . . Dead Man . . .

Got my best suit and my tie
Shiny silver dollar on either eye
I hear the chauffeur comin’ to the door
Says there’s room for maybe just one more . . .

Courage. And try to smile, even though you might be dead. :)

    And…a great song!

Impossible to categorize great. Too bad they don’t play live any more, except in bits and pieces ;)

But Elfman is the music behind a lot of cool and creepy movies and he’s a natural genius. Russian descent.

And frankly, at this moment, there are some people who I really wouldn’t mind being tortured…

If we really wanted to torture people, we’d quote Hamlet:

    From Shakespeare’s Hamlet, 1603:

    LORD POLONIOUS:
    Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

It’s only 405 years old, you’d think someone would have read it by now, but apparently we don’t read Shakespeare any more.
