Here are some interesting excerpts from the Senate report.
“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.
“Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical.” - Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.”
Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in the history…When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists.” - UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning PhD environmental physical chemist.
“The IPCC has actually become a closed circuit; it doesn’t listen to others. It doesn’t have open minds… I am really amazed that the Nobel Peace Prize has been given on scientifically incorrect conclusions by people who are not geologists,” - Indian geologist Dr. Arun D. Ahluwalia at Punjab University and a board member of the UN-supported International Year of the Planet.
“The models and forecasts of the UN IPCC “are incorrect because they only are based on mathematical models and presented results at scenarios that do not include, for example, solar activity.” - Victor Manuel Velasco Herrera, a researcher at the Institute of Geophysics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico
“It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming.” - U.S Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA.
“Even doubling or tripling the amount of carbon dioxide will virtually have little impact, as water vapour and water condensed on particles as clouds dominate the worldwide scene and always will.” – . Geoffrey G. Duffy, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Auckland, NZ.
“After reading [UN IPCC chairman] Pachauri’s asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it’s hard to remain quiet.” - Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society’s Probability and Statistics Committee and is an Associate Editor of Monthly Weather Review.
“For how many years must the planet cool before we begin to understand that the planet is not warming? For how many years must cooling go on?” - Geologist Dr. David Gee the chairman of the science committee of the 2008 International Geological Congress who has authored 130 plus peer reviewed papers, and is currently at Uppsala University in Sweden.
“Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp…Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact.” - Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch UN IPCC committee.
“Many [scientists] are now searching for a way to back out quietly (from promoting warming fears), without having their professional careers ruined.” - Atmospheric physicist James A. Peden, formerly of the Space Research and Coordination Center in Pittsburgh.
“Creating an ideology pegged to carbon dioxide is a dangerous nonsense…The present alarm on climate change is an instrument of social control, a pretext for major businesses and political battle. It became an ideology, which is concerning.” - Environmental Scientist Professor Delgado Domingos of Portugal, the founder of the Numerical Weather Forecast group, has more than 150 published articles.
“CO2 emissions make absolutely no difference one way or another….Every scientist knows this, but it doesn’t pay to say so…Global warming, as a political vehicle, keeps Europeans in the driver’s seat and developing nations walking barefoot.” - Dr. Takeda Kunihiko, vice-chancellor of the Institute of Science and Technology Research at Chubu University in Japan.
“The [global warming] scaremongering has its justification in the fact that it is something that generates funds.” - Award-winning Paleontologist Dr. Eduardo Tonni, of the Committee for Scientific Research in Buenos Aires and head of the Paleontology Department at the University of La Plata. # #
In addition, the report will feature new peer-reviewed scientific studies and analyses refuting man-made warming fears and a heavy dose of inconvenient climate developments. (See Below: Study: Half of warming due to Sun! –Sea Levels Fail to Rise? - Warming Fears in ‘Dustbin of History’)
The Senate Minority Report is an update of 2007’s blockbuster U.S. Senate Minority Report of over 400 dissenting scientists. See here: This new report will contain the names, quotes and analyses of literally hundreds of additional international scientists who publicly dissented from man-made climate fears in just 2008 alone.

Steph C Thursday, January 15th at 11:23AM EST (link)I, for one, am so thankful for global warming right now. Without it, just imagine how cold it would be. Really, when you think about how it must be averting the next ice age, why concern ourselves with it? If anything, we need more global warming because it’s darned cold out there, even for those locations that are used to the cold.
Honestly, skepticism pays at times. Everybody was so willing to jump on the warming bandwagon that it’s really pathetic. What’s even more pathetic is that no matter how much evidence to the contrary is provided, they continue to parrot old… interpret wrong… data and call the rest of us stupid for not believing. They can’t believe in God but they can believe in man-made global warming and grouse about overpopulation.
Well, here’s a challenge for them… a play on the casting the first stone chapter of the New Testament. Let those who believe the world is overpopulated self terminate and solve the problem. If they’re not willing to do that to further their cause, then they just need to get out of my face about what they think I do wrong.
My house is “greener” than Al Gore’s, Obama’s, Capitol Hill, and just about every other advocate’s house you can think of… and it’s not because I believe in global warming but because I don’t want to pay the utility bills.

It’s foolish to conclude anything about anything of a global magnitude when your time frame of interest is 50, 100 or even 1000 years.
You’d better be able to model and explain the last significant, spontaneous warming event, which was about 14,000 years ago. How about an explanation of the cycles of that & previous ice ages? Most scientists are in pretty much agreement that the population of the world has been wiped out several times due to the extreme change in global climate….
I am almost certain that all of this happened before we vile humans even inhabited the Earth. So now why all of a sudden does ANYONE think WE have anything to do with the global climate? The Earth will end one day whether it be from the sun burning out, the rotation ending, something happening to cause actual chatostrophy….this will probably happen LONG LONG LONG after we humans are gone, there will probably be several more mass population wipe out.
Does not mean we as humans act as good stewards of the Earth. But punishing people with high taxes and the such to save the Earth that no matter what will end one day?
Of course I could add that our Savior will probably be here before the Earth has a chance to end, but I was trying to write something even a liberal could understand. Probably still failed.

I’ve done still air at minus 60 or so and and wind chills a lot colder than that. Wind chill really only is a measure of how it feels to a person who isn’t well clothed. I’m pretty much a cynic about wind chill other than as it relates to a person outside and not dressed for cold.
My house has a “design temperature” of minus 20. That means my furnace will run all the time at minus 20 still air. Below minus 20, my furnace will run all the time but will not be able to keep up; the house will start to get colder, air temp colder. Even far above design temp, the walls and windows will have gotten cold and the house really isn’t all that comfortable. Below design temp, the air in the house is getting cold and it isn’t a perception of cold, it IS cold.

Yep. Anything but the high and low temperatures land smack-dab upon the 30-year NWS mean value is proof of human-induced planet destruction.

Global Warming
jonathanswift Saturday, January 17th at 12:41PM EST (link)The models in the 1990s that seemed to be predictive certainly merited further review. However, since global temperatures since the year 2000 have fallen, it appears these models were not predictive and making policy based upon projections that did not hold is absurd.
Models always need validation before belief
KC Monday, January 19th at 1:01PM EST (link)Computer models are useful and if you can get one to model at least the highest order of an effect it can help with further study. The mistake is in the belief system that jumps to the conclusion that the model is true when in fact it has not ever been correct. The models continue to show thermal growth as they continue to show CO2 growth but the thermal growth is really a decrease.
The earth climate is very complex, our abiity to model complex things is still in its infancy. This is why I never take a model for the truth. Of course scientists who run models want financial support and they are getting it from the world socialist movement who understand that something does not have to be true to become a political movement. Note that both candidates in the last election were forced to admit that global warming is occurring when in fact neither has the slightest understanding of the math and physics involved. They do know how to listen to a political advisor.

Speaking as a conservative scientist ...
lincoln_student Tuesday, January 20th at 7:49AM EST (link)Speaking as a conservative scientist, I would like to point out the evidence that global warming is real, human-caused, and strategically serious is strong and growing stronger. Surveys of trained climatologists show that 97% of them accept this evidence.
To dismiss this overwhelming scientific consensus as a “hoax” is delusional thinking of an extreme form.
It is a utter disaster for American conservatism that so many conservative leaders have foolishly chosen reject this evidence, and instead have embraced the disinformation that is so prevalent on this thread.
There are many thoughtful American conservatives who understand this: John McCain and Newt Gingrich to name two. Unfortunately, thoughtful conservatives are in a minority nowadays … as hysterical denialism has become the norm in American conservatism.
By fostering denialist hysteria, RedState does a huge disservice to conservatism.

92.5% of the scientists reject the conclusions of the UN’s IPCC report.
Even though there were very few actual “climate experts” contributing to the UN’s IPCC report, let’s use the UN ’s number of scientists for the sake of this exercise.
UN Scientists (52)
Dissenting Climate Experts Who Signed the Manhattan Declaration (197)
79% of climate experts reject the conclusions of the UN’s IPCC report (The actual percentage of dissenting climate experts is much higher).

Climate Experts Who Signed The Manhattan Declaration
In light of the overwhelming evidence and growing consensus that directly refutes the UN’s conclusion on climate change, you really should consider revising your position.

Moe is absolutely right ...
lincoln_student Tuesday, January 20th at 10:30AM EST (link)Moe says: Not particularly on anybody’s side, probably not a provocateur, has skin in the game when it comes to Iraq, sound on Blackadder.
What Moe says is absolutely right. I’m not particularly on anybody’s side, because Mother Nature is not particularly on anybody’s side.
But I’m no student … professionally I’m a quantum systems engineer. And right-versus-left politics aside, the basic science of human-caused global warming is sound … and Mother Nature punishes without mercy all who embrace political fantasies instead of sobering global realities.
As for the claims on this thread, not a single peer-reviewed article has been referenced. That’s a huge warning signal.
Historically, those communities who regard scientific peer review as a “conspiracy” have been … well … delusional. Martin Gardner’s classic Fads and Fallacies in the Name of Science is worth reading in this regard.
Bottom Line: Today’s global warming denialists are continuing a long American tradition of ideology-driven nut-jobbery … and they are gravely harming the cause of American conservatism in the process.
Hi. Stop using "denialist." Site moderator talking.

To me, “consensus” seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects … There are still people in my party who believe in “consensus” politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors … I mean it.

Jack_Savage Tuesday, January 20th at 11:41AM EST (link)I need to get to the grocery store because I am snowbound today in Durham, NC. Is there any way you can throw some temporary global warming my way? Or is all this because of global warming?

rbdwiggins Tuesday, January 20th at 11:20AM EST (link)Among scientists, the Anthropogenic Global Warming “consensus” never existed.
The links I provided up-thread will take you many more places than I expect you’re willing to go. A quick perusal of the list of dissenting climate experts clearly indicates the international component and readily lays waste to your premise that it’s “a long American tradition of ideology-driven nut-jobbery.”
Clearly, I know you really didn’t mean to, but that certainly is an accurate description of a typical global warming acolyte.
And now, as the facts begin to overwhelm the hype, the purveyors of the Man-Made Global Warming Hoax are losing the battle of public opinion as well.
Lucky for us, the “movement” started about a decade too late.
