Because we are in bad need of an open thread today

Wow, we live in interesting times (curse you ancient Chinese philosophers!).

I have long held out that Obama had yet to prove that he was as bad or as incompetent as Carter, but I tell you, it’s pretty damn close.

My knees are getting weak, my stomach queasy, my throat is tight. Approvals for Obamacare is rising, financial deform is on the brink, and tomorrow brings us the amnesty push. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

I have been so involved for the past year, and I want to keep it up, but sometimes, I feel a bit defeated. Don’t get me wrong I am doing my part where I can. I did some calling for my local GOP, and have put in enough volunteer hours to get to meet the chairman of the party. I will then ask him, how I can become a precinct committeeman. So I am not sitting down on the job. I just feel like things are deflating. I sense a change in direction. Or is it just my pessimist nature?

The more active you become, the more your pessimism will clear. Good for you!

    • lineholder

but I chalk that up to typical human nature.

Suppose someone makes a decision affecting your life that you don’t like. You might be afraid, anxious, irritated, angry, etc. Then after a while, you probably would begin to “accept the inevitable”. You would become resigned to the inevitability of those changes. You might even attempt to try to see it in a positive context just to prevent feeling miserable or resentful. I think this administration is counting on our responding this way.

That’s why what you are doing is so important. The door of opportunity is still open for us. You’ll be in a position to get more accomplished.

      Hang in there!

is in a D+22 district. He can say whatever he wants, insult whomever he wants and will never have to worry about an election, except perhaps a primary challenge.

I sincerely hope there is a wave in 2010 and we clean house. But these types of pols will always remain in the bluest of areas and will always serve as a reminder of that portion of the electorate that is content to have rulers and too braindead to be outraged by any form of depravity.

I know theres a lot of good people in CA but right now, I’m kind of rooting for it to slide into the ocean…

in our elected officials, Mostly on the left, but a few republicans too.

He needs to be sent home by the voters. They usually remain quite and stupid, but people are finally getting angry and waking up. So who knows?

But one of the things I thought was most interesting in that video of Stark’s town hall meeting was the comments expressed by legal immigrants. I’m hearing the same from legal immigrants here in NC. They bitterly resent the attitude of the current administration towards illegal immigrants.

        • http://impudent.edublogs.org/ kyle8

Another factor in the illegal immigration controversy is that it is incredibly RACIST. I don’t mean that people who wan to curb illegal immigration are racist, I mean the people who support illegals are racist.

Because the truth is that only one nation, one ethnicity is helped by illegal immigration.

It isn’t the thousands of Indians, Chinese, Indonesians, Nigerians, or Eastern Europeans who want to enter our country, it is only Mexicans who gain special victim status.

And that my friends is RACIST!

          • lineholder

I won’t hesitate to own up to that for a second.

Did you know that there are laws in Mexico that prevent a person from having a second job? One of the legal immigrants that works with me was telling us that this is one of the reasons he applied to become a legal immigrant to the States. He couldn’t live on one job and even if he had been offered a second job, he wouldn’t have been allowed to take it. Here, he works two jobs, 16 hours a day, at least six days a week…and he is grateful for what work he does have. But he came here legally. He chose to go through the right channels.
